So now this person named Seth calls me from 855-727-7506 says it s Willams and Anderson law firm. And that I supposedly owe money from a pay day cash advance from 2007 and that money from a bank account i supposedly had back then was verified I asked him to send me the paper work he say no only after it's paid. Then I get a call from the local county office says his name is peter and that he has papers to serve me where can he come to? As of today I have called that bank and if I had an account back then it is out of the system and I called the local sherrifs office and they have no one there by the name of peter. Please be ware of these fraudulent people

These folks are a scam. They tell you they will settle you out with this bs. the settlement # is how much i took out anyway. if they wanted to take me to court they had 5 years to do so.. out of the blue this scam from some place called staten island trying to take me to court. yeah okkkk. im no pro. but i made a mistake and anyway its out of statute of limitations. meaning i dont owe it anymore. then they have the nerve to call my wifes job from a 347 #. this place should burn in hell. if anyone see a prvt # calling you or telling you your going to court. tell them to kiss your A**

Has the statute of limitations for your state http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html expired on your debt? If expired, don't pay.

"You people deserve to be cost your positions at work" makes no sense because if debtors lost their jobs, how are they going to pay their debts? You really need to think this through.

No, you do not need to give your card info before they faxed over the paperwork. Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
1. $amount and name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
2. that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
3. that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
4. that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
Under "Validation of Debt" on pages 11 and 12, the FDCPA says the paperwork must inform consumers that they have 30 days to dispute the debt, and if consumers dispute the debt in writing *OR* ask in writing for the name of the original creditor and $amount, the collector must cease collection and send written verification of the debt to the consumer (might be original creditor paperwork showing your debt). What this means is all debt collectors *MUST* inform *AND* give alleged debtors the right to dispute, and collectors *CANNOT* just jump forward and take you to court without giving you the chance to dispute. If you didn't get the paperwork, it's likely an abusive-but-legit debt collector or scammer. If the collector claims he sent the paperwork, the paperwork has to come by certified mail so you have to sign for it for the collector to prove in court he actually sent it. If you didn't sign for it, the collector can't prove he sent it and you got it. If taken to court, motion the court for case dismissal because the collector failed to provide you proper written notice as required by the FDCPA and denied you the right to dispute. Please read through the FDCPA to defend yourself against abusive debt collectors. Real debtors need to understand that if you really do get sued, you'd likely lose in court because the collector would make sure he's not going to lose on technicalities or look stupid in front of a judge.
I believe a collector based in another state must be registered to do business (collect debt) in your state in order to collect debt from you. Check with your state licensing agency to see if this collector (if you knew who!) is licensed to collect in your state.
Creditors also sell charged-off debts to others who'll try to collect. Charge-off means the creditor has given up on collecting but the debt's still alive and won't die until the statute of limitations http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html runs out and even then some may still try to collect (low probability). The SOL does not prohibit collection attempts, it only says debtors don't have to pay and debtors must get proof it's time-barred to be safe. Read up on the FDCPA and learn your rights http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf and http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

These people are harassing me too. I have asked them several times to send me a copy of the loan they say i have and i would be glad to pay it but they just keep saying i have 24 hours to pay it i will be served...well thats been about 2 weeks....one friday they called me 15 times on my cell phone and 6 times at work...i have told them repeatedly not to call me at work and they continue to do it. I unfortunatley went thru a rough time time in 2006 and they say this is from then. i thought i had everything caught up and jpaid for from then but according to them they have this loan now....the loan was for 500.00 and now they say they are suing me for 3400.00. rude people who just hang up on you and i told them i would not give them my credit card info and he told me good luck and hung up on me! then a few days later the calls started again...at loss as to what to do....i fell like its a scam

You people deserve to be cost your positions at work and wherever else.  They are a Collection Agency, to which you are submitted after you don't pay off the cash advance loans you morons take out since you have no money to begin with.  They aren't a scam, and only professional debtors like you think so to cover your sorry a***s.

Well I just receive a phone call similiar to the one you recieved. It was in reference to a friend of mines. Fast talking the whole time. What's was crazy about the call is that they ask to speak to a mutual friend of the person they were looking not me. After that I went on the offense. Asked them how they got my number. They said they must have gotten the names mixed up with the numbers as far as references he gave them goes.  That just did not sound professional at all. The caller was trying to convince himself that I was the person they were looking for. He gave his name, number and ext to pass  along. Guess it does not pay for a friend to use you as a reference with out even letting you know. Hope these folks don't call  me anymore.

They called today and yesterday and told me today that they hda noticed suspicious activity and thought I might be the victim of ID theft. Yesterday they were with the AG's office and wanted to speak with my supervisor. I Am the supervisor and I told them we don't get mixed up in our employee's personal matters. She was quite ugly and asid they were going to serve me with papers and I said that the best bet would be to serve her at home because we are a secure building and will not accept service.
Just freakin bill collectors. And I'll tell you for those of you who so self-righteously say pay your debts; I PAID these idiots, and they added more charges at the end and those I won;t pay. And quite frankly I feel so strongly about it that they can just take me to court...which they won't because the Judge will see I have paid and throw them out on their ear.
I don't like them asking for my boss, but luckily I, and another person answer the phones here and we just fake em out.
I will be reporting them.

I was very skeptical when I first received phone calls from this number. When I finally spoke to a man named Peter Walsh, he explained he was contacting me about an outstanding loan I DID have. He was very helpful and kind in helping me resolve my issues with the company I had the loan with. He also worked with me each time I ran into a problem with a scheduled payment. Mr. Walsh was not threatening in any way and I appreciate everything he did to help me. Thank you Mr. Walsh.

I've received two calls from a restricted number that turned out to be a collection agency looking for a family member. The most recent call came this afternoon. The rep was talking so fast and mushing his words together so much, that I could hardly understand him. He kept saying that my family member was under investigation, at one point he said something about criminal investigation! Clearly he was trying to make me think that my FM was about to be arrested or something. I got this same B.S. spiel the last time they called too!

I kept asking him who he was, what the company name was, etc. He refused to identify the company, but left his name, Justin Banks, and this number as a call back number for me forward. When I pushed for a company name, and more info about how they got my number, etc. I was transferred to a "supervisor" who didn't identify himself at all.

He did the same thing. Talked really fast and didn't articulate at all. When I asked him to slow down and speak more clearly, he started screaming at me. So, I hung up.

Here's the interesting part, 1) my family member said she contacted them the last time they called me and had already proved she didn't owe them a damned thing! 2) When Justin started to give me the phone #, first he said _03. I didn't understand him and I missed the first # so I asked him to start over. When he did, it changed to 888. This prompted me to look back at my phone records from the first time they called. At that time, I was getting tons of calls from 603-214-9001 that I was ignoring. I can't say for certain that they're related, but if anyone is also getting calls from that 603 #, you might want to look into that one too.

So now, me and my FM are both wondering exactly what kind of scam this is because the rep, Justin, was also tossing out my mother's name, asking who she was, etc.

Anyway, once I found this site, I decided to call the number myself. Sure enough, the answering machine said Alexander Williams and Associates. An internet search gave me one hit, the address (this is also the address for an animal clinic) and another phone number  718-447-6114. When I called that one, all I got was what sounded like a home answering machine with an electronic voice saying leave a message. No company name, business hours, nothing.

I have reported this to the FTC, hopefully if they get enough reports they can do something about it.

I get Pierre Walsh-who barely speaks English- at ext. 401. Based on the times they call(as late as 11 pm Est. Time), and posts on other boards,  I'm not giving them anything over the phone.

I just got a call from them also. For them to be "lawyers", you'd think they could speak proper English. The guy that left me the voicemail was barely understandable- I had to replay it 7 times! As for all the positive reviews, maybe some of you are legit... I worked for a really crappy company where the managers would go on boards like this and sing praises to the heavens for the company, so I'm not biting.

Since anyone can type information on here...who knows who is who.  I recieved a call about a so called debt several years ago and was told a summons was going to be sent to me and that I would be put in jail.  Well I contacted my local police department who confirmed that they do not put people in jail for an unpaid debt.  if/when the summons is sent and I recieve it.  I will be happy to go to court.  I will not confirm any personal identifying information over the phone nor will i give any credit card or banking information.  if this is kegit then i will work it out legally in a court of law.... I am waiting!

Yeah scammers for sure.  The people that called me sounded very uneducated with a New York accent.  For those who claimed they paid.  Post the address of AW and Associates.  I had someone check the 1293 Clove Rd in Staten Island that is an invalid address.   So Gennell and MS WELLS, please post the address.

I've done some research and they are indeed SCAM.  Anybody who says anything differently is associated with them.  I called that Emergency Vet place and they confirmed there was no such law firm or bill collector on the second floor.  I have friends whom are lawyers and they all say by law you must receive notifications in the mail regarding the matter before you are threatened with a summons.  It is a scam.  Don't be intimidated by their threats or phone calls.  Also when they called me twice around 10pm I knew right away it was a red flag.   Please do not give them your credit card or checking account info.
