When they call me, you can be as mean and obscene as you want, give theme a sex call.Ask if they are beating off now or os they wait for the men's room. Or them them you are playing with your self to the sould of his sexy foice. Waste there time. It is legal for you to do it when they CALL YOU - Illegal when you call them. Or keep a loud rock group ready to play on full volume on a tape player - let go with and wasl away.

Here you all go yelling at me cause I told you how it was.  Well someone has to its pretty sad your parents didn't teach you responsibility and people have to call you all day everyday because you stole money / goods.  When your watching your nice new tv you didn't pay for or on your computer that was taken out on "credit".  Remember your suppose to pay it back, and you all are on this sites because your so pathetic you'd rather waste countless days and hours to find a way not to pay for your stolen goods.  I hope none of you have kids because they need to be taught responsibility something none of you have.

Don't justify being a collector.  You guys are just a crooked as mortgage brokers.  People wouldn't have so much revolving unpayable debt if trashy banks like Cap One and other preditors didn't set their clients up for failure.  Take a shower to wash off your filth, go to church and ask forgiveness for being slime and get a job handing out fries.

OMG, today I received an "private" call on my cell phone.  I almost never answer these but today I was just a little board at my desk.  Dan Holister from Rueben and Yates told me that my father had been given as an emergency contact for my ex-wife (we've been divorced for 10 years) and that she was being sued and that she probably didn't even know about it.  I asked who on earth would sue her?  Dan Holister replied that that information wasn't available due to privacy issues.  Immediately I realized it was a scam and I told him that I something was fishy.  He put me on hold while his 'supervisor' picked up and started off insisting that I not be difficult as this was a big deal.  I said if you can tell me who is suing and give me your contact information, I'll consider passing this on to her.  He began screaming at me and hung up, but not before I got his 'call back' number.  Of course I Googled the law firm and here I am....

Ever heard the old saying, "you can catch more flies with honey ..."?  You can collect more money on debts owed by not being such an "a" hole when you call people.  You're pretty pathetic yourself because you have to resort to lies and harrassment in an attempt to collect a debt, which is a joke because unless you provide proof of the debt, most consumers simply blow you off as they are aware of the Fair Debt Collection Act.  Hope you don't ever lose your job and find yourself in the same situation.  Remember, what goes around comes around.  Grow up and get some manners!

The only reason you all are writing on this site is cause you dont like to pay your bills and your a direct reason the economy is in a sinking hole.  If you didn't pay a student loan you would be sure to have your wages garnished.  It you didnt pay your auto loan you'd be sure to have your car repo'd.  So why should you people get away with stealing money from banks and buying goods and not paying them back.  You all deserve a lot more than harassing phone calls! Your theives and should be treated like one.  Grow up and take responsibilty.

Once again my husband received a VM from this number.  There wasn't a caller ID number since it was a VM and the phone was off.  When I called the number they left, it was first a voice mail for "Joe" then it was for Mr. Longo.  My husband was told that his attny needed to speak with Mr. Longo in regards to court and it was a dated thing.

Thanks for the info about the sites to report this nonsense.  I will be using them! They still have not sent me the "proof" that we owe any debt.

That 716-362-0381 on your caller ID is a Buffalo, NY number. Hardly surprising since Buffalo, NY is the world capital of debt collection scams. I ran a Google search on "Ruben & Yates", "Ruben and Yates" and "Ruben Yates" and found nothing other than online complaints from consumers who've received calls from these shysters.  Also, the New York Secretary of State's business entity database and the White Pages and Yellow Pages directories show no company by this name.

I seriously doubt this is a real law firm. It has all the hallmarks of another Buffalo debt collection scam.

Regardless of whether it's a real law firm or not, they've already broken federal debt collection laws (disclosing information a third-party and false threats of lawsuits, and possibly impersonating attorneys, for starters) and appear to be trying to extort money from your mother. I suggest you report these con artists to all the following:

1) The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.

2) Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov  Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by an extortionist over the phone and give them all the details.

3) File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.

4) These crooks appear to be in New York, so file a complaint with the New York New York Attorney General at http://www.oag.state.ny.us/complaints/complaints.html or 800-771-7755

5) File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.naag.org

6) File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

In addition to reporting these scammers to law enforcement, you can also sue them.  For more information on protecting yourself from crooked debt collectors and suing them for fun and profit, check out these websites:

If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement.

Hope this helps.

Received a call today on my number looking for my mother from a ms. Halt identifying herself with Ruben and Yates Law FIrm and that she was calling about my mother's court date June 18th and gave me a 'court' case #XXXX (court cases have more number's than that, unlike her I actually worked for a law firm at one time). When I questioned her about why she was calling me threatening my mother with ascheduled court date and refused to give me a valid court case # she got very nasty and hung up on me. I called back and got through to a man whom identified himself as a manager, Mr. Longo. I told that if that woman ever contact my number again I would put a complaint against them for violating the fair debt collection act. IT IS ILLEGAL TO THREATEN SOMONE OVER THE PHONE IN AN ATTEMPT TO COLLECT AN OUTSTANDING DEBT.

Received VM stating they received a "formal complaint" attached to the "deeded property" at my home address - The message stated he could get me $40 to comply.  The man in the message stated a "Case #" for me to refer to.

Seems ominous.

My husband has received several calls from this number at his job.  Today they called his cell phone 3 times so I called them back.  They demanded that we pay an old dept without any proof that we owed the debt.  We have asked for written proof and not recieved it.  When "Joe" kept being pushy I let him know that I was recording the phone conversation.  When I asked if he understood that the phone call was being recorded he told me he didn't care what I was doing and that I was being uncooperative and refusing to pay the debt.  When I tried to tell him that I just wanted proof that I owed the debt he refused to speak to me and hung up the phone.  When I called back and asked to speak to his supervisor he told me that I had "pissed off the man in charge" and not to call back.  My husband had to call back and gave him a "junk" email address he could send the "proof" we owe the debt to.  Any ideas on how to deal with these jerks would be great.
