It's the first of September, 2012 and this company is alive and scamming well. I submitted a resume to a "Power Applications" after being redirected to them from "MarketingJobForce.com".

The next day I answered a text to call 866-825-0612. I did so and spoke with a "Verification Specialist" (who breathed heavy, it was kinda creepy).

I figured it out by the end of the phone call that my application was not going to reach the company. I started checking around. I have found a multitude of complaints on a multitude of websites and Better Bs. Bureaus. It seems they use many names and addresses.

I haven't verified it, but I read on one of the boards that Florida's Channel 9 news, WFTV, exposed them a couple of years ago. If that's true, then apparently it hasn't stopped them.

Yesterday I called & emailed  the company that I was applying to and warned them that their company name was potentially being used for scam purposes. I asked them to verify if it was legitimate. I have not received a reply from that company so far.

One thing I found interesting was that the company I was applying to did not have the job posting on their Careers page, but they did state "no phone calls." That certainly makes it easy for the scammers to commandeer my resume.

I'm not easily scammed but this time I was. They have my name, phone numbers, and email. At least I haven't clicked on their Employer-Network link to "complete" my application.

Hey everyone,

My name is Donnie and I am the Web/Marketing Coordinator for The Employee Network. I think you might have us confused or it's quite possible there may be another company out there calling themselves The Employee Network and working as some type of hiring agency or scam as you all have described.

I just want to clarify that we are not a hiring/employment agency. We are the official Employee Discount Program of more than 100 of the largest Government Agencies, Corporations and Hospitals in Arizona, Nevada and the Nation. We advertise discount offers from local and national vendors to our employee members and have been in business since 1998. I just don't want our company to be confused with any that may be illegitimate or scams because we most certainly are not.

I called them up to let them know that this is a scam. the lady i was talking to was studdering when i said that and i told her to go (expletive) herself i know this is a scam and she hung up. U can't even look for a job without somebody trying to get over. If craiglist cant control that they need to be kicked off the internet bottom line!!

I live in Tampa and got THREE replies - same thing.  BBB says "F", can't verify.  I began to register with the first one and stopped/exited after typing in my email address.

NOW I got an email with my email address and a bogus password THEY CREATED!!!!  I am a bit nervous about this and intend to report them to the authorities.

Just got a text from 424-832-0405 saying "I just reviewed your application for the Bookstore Clerk position you applied for. Please call me at 877-835-3392." Obvious scam (as usual, from CraigsList). Thanks, "chefslb", for your great suggestion to not put your phone number on your résumé. And, right, what reputable employer would text you with interest in hiring you?

This company is a part of careercentral.com.. They have postings NATIONWIDE!!! They get your personal information if they can.. BE SMART!!!! NEVER Give out your address information on your RESUME of a website, UNLESS you know the company PERSONALLY..Even then I usually give a "To provide later" disclaimer... I NEVER give my full address.. NEVER!!!!! You have no idea if a site has been duplicated or is legit.. These people set up a listing to get your personal information...

I have tried to go on this companies site because I did give them my cell number, and after getting a text decided to edit my account and delete it... Here's the kicker, YOU CANNOT ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT!!!! All you can do on their site is apply.. You cannot see anything..  THESE ARE MOST LIKELY ID THEFT SITES!!!! The site I went through is as follows: http://www.phoenix-careercentral.com/...
DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFO... Have ONLY your email address on your resume, FOR ANY SITE!!! Most of the jobs that sound too good to be true ARE!!!!!!! They are STEALING your info from your resume... And when you get an email asking for additional info, verify the company, AND the person asking for it.. CALL THE COMPANY AND ASK FOR THAT PERSON DIRECTLY!!!! IF you are unfamiliar with the company, look them up online... NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY INFO!!! And I typically do not provide then anything till I come in for an interview... If they have an issue with my security, I do not want to work for them anyway.

I responded to a craigslist post for a pharmacy position...a few days later received a text from 424-832-0405 telling me to call 877-808-3878...so I looked it up and found this site. Who texts about a real job they are trying to fill? Im not going to return the call because my situation sounds way to similar to these other people. Dont fall for it folks, just more scumbags trying to make $$$ off you.

Got this twice! from the same number both times... A text message from 407-982-0443 saying to call the first time 877-847-2683, and the second time 877-808-3878. Both times I called the numbers and they immediately knew my name and had my information.... They stated they were a 3rd party referral company for the actual employer.... It pisses me off that they can keep doing stuff like this. I applied for an Admin Assistant Position in Florida and got this freaking scam! For the people that actually need jobs this is a total waste of time.

You are wrong bro...! I did exactly the same thing as anyone else here, and the same as you. The one thing I noticed that is different from my experience from everyone else is that, a few days after the "FAKE" interview, I started getting spam text messages from a random number that I can not trace back. The phone number is 1234. Not sure if I'm the only one, but I receive the same damn text message about "phone security" about once a day. I have never received any damn spam text ever, until the damn "Employer Network" scam. I did a little research on this and found out that those people never intend to find jobs for anyone. However, they take the little information such as your e-mail address and phone number, and sells it to third party advertisement. Random people, companies, and crap that you do not need starts popping up. Don't worry about your information though, you are unlikely to get any valuable information stolen, except for annoying telemarketers and advertisements. This is how the company "Employer Network" or whoever they are, gets paid. So don't listen to this guy, he knows nothing.

Chill out, guys.  Employer Network actually does exactly what they say they do.  I called in response to their text, which admittedly is somewhat odd.  They knew my name, Caller ID apparently pulls up your information, and I got the same 5-25 minute explanation.  I said sure, and they asked a series of questions, but nothing too intimate.  They never asked for anything more personal than my phone number, and e-mail, which they already had, due to the fact that I put it in my resume and any applications I fill out.  They asked a few questions about schooling, and I told them I wasn't interested.  And that was it.  My guess is they're using what they do as a way to talk to people about going back to school.  I haven't heard anything from a school, so I'm guessing that when I said no, they took me off whatever list they had me on in the first place.  All-in-all, not an unpleasant experience.  I agree that people should be on the lookout for scams, but assume at your own risk.  Don't give out any information that you're not comfortable with and be smart about it.  But in my opinion, at least, Employer network appears to be legit.

Now those of you who want to can start screaming about how I work for them, etc., etc.  = )

I also told them that I was not interested in going back to school since I already have a degree but I just received an email from then telling me to go to their site employer-network.com to apply for jobs. Still seems a little phishy to me. You can't be too careful these days.

I got the same thing. Applied for a job on craigslist three days ago and just received a text message from 310-882-3204 asking me to call 888-907-0379. This is terrible that we have to be aware of scams even when applying for a job! Out of four jobs I applied for, only one was legit! Two others wanted my credit report and score before they would even set up an interview! Pretty dispicable if you ask me...

I received this same text but I did not respond... it definitely sounds like a scam. What type of reputable employer would send you a text asking you to call them??? I wish there were some way to report these ***holes. It sounds like they are trying to collect personal information from people, it's really sad that they are trying to scam people but it's even sadder that they are targeting honest people looking for work. BE AWARE, NEW SCAMS ARE BEING THOUGHT UP EVERY DAY!!!

I got a text from 646 483 3646 saying than they had reviewed my application for the receptionist application and to call 888-907-4193. I don't recall apply for receptionist but since I'm looking for a job I called anyway, a guy answer knowing exactly who I was, he told me his name but I forgot and said he needs to confirm my information and do a pre screening for the position. He said it will take 5 to 25 mins. I said I will call him back, but after reading these posts I will not.

Same thing happened to me. I applied for a job i saw on craigslist and got a text from 267-294-6496 telling me to call this number about the position. I called and verified the information they already had on me =[ But I don't think I gave them anything new. Then they emailed me this "survey" with a chance to win $500 on completion. But the survey required even more personal information to fill out. Obviously I didn't do so... I'm just hoping I haven't screwed myself by returning their call and verifying my initial information.

I applied to a job posting on craigslist with my resume last Friday. Today, I received the same text message from 312-519-1016 asking me to call 888-9070379. I have not called and probably won't at this point; I thought it very strange that any employer would text about reviewing an application.

I got a text too from  312-519-1016 and said to call 1-888-907-0379 about an admin. position. Called and got Employer Network. I asked what company they represented and they said just Employer Network. I told her that I didn't apply for anything. She said I applied yesterday. No, I really didn't. And it was creepy. She did know my name when I called.  They are prob. getting my resume from Monster or Career Builder. SCAM!

Text from saying to call 888-907-4193 just wanting to verify info that they have, it sounds very suspicious and really pisses me off that our home land security can not stop these people from harrassing real people that are desperately looking for real and legit jobs, the big problem I also have is how these places are able to get our info in the first place to just verify it over the phone in a suppose relation to helping the people get a job, this person said there office was in Orlando Florida, and I live in California, so how is someone in Florida going to find me a local job here?

Just got the same message regarding a job applicaiton for an admin position and to call them. To me they are not professional by sending me txt messages for me to call them. An email or an actual phone call would be more professional than a txt message.
