We got the call too, just now 9/2013 in Tampa FL. We go to Home Depot a lot. It's annoying that they are selling our information. I let it go to my answering machine and didn't return the call.

I received the same call saying the same thing.

Girl named Andrea called to let me know I was a lucky winner of a navigator and gave me info where to go, when and how to claim it. Said she was a representative for cruise line.

Masha called to tell me I won a Navigator too. (star vacations) scam.

Here's an exact transcript of the message left for me:

"Hi, this is Marsha calling about your entry form you put in our cool car cold cash giveaway back in December.  Your name was pulled as one of our finalists about 6 weeks ago.  We actually did send you all the information through the mail, however the deadline to verify your entry form is in 48 hours and we have yet to hear from you.  If we don't hear from you we have to forfeit your entry to the runner up.  Don't let this happen. Give us a call as soon as possible at 1-888-923-1327.  Once again, congratulations."

Called me yesterday & said that I had won a prize & free gas cards.  If I didn't call back right away my prize would be given to someone else.  I called them back & they said we had entered a contest @ a home depot in feb. of 2008.  he told me to hold on and then never came back to me.  the man that answered the phone said his name was milt hampton.

actualy got the same call from the gal who said i filled out the card at home depot,,,,,we were stupid enough to to the thing that we won a trip to mexico and a 100 dollar gas card,,,,was nothing but a tour thru a hotel and trying to get people into time share we walk right out of the hotel with out filling out the paper,,,,,,was not told it had to do with time share what a waiste of time and money!!!

Received this message this morning on my cell phone:

It is a scam, and now that I have read L.hart's message, I can't believe companies would do this!

The worst part is some of us actually do enter contests, and get excited to hear a phone call like this! BUT, let me tell you...I entered a contest at MSN.com/autos and was chosen as a winner of an ipod. I did not get any emails, or phone calls to this effect, one day there was a package at my door, and inside it had the ipod and the congrats letter. So, trust me, they don't call you, they just give it to you, unless it is a car or something. But I'm SURE you get contacted by mail, etc.

I got the same message...I supposed I shouldn't waste my time, but I do remember entering this contest. What a bunch of crap.

I just got a message on my phone about an hour ago. I never enter contests and am on the do not call list. My name happens to be Marcia and I got the same message as you verbatim from Marsha. Curious, I looked up reverse phone # and got nothing. Figured you can google anything, and sure enough, found this info. Gonna be hard times out there and people are going to have to be extra careful for scam artists.

LOL!  I just got a call from "Richard Mann" saying my name was drawn for a new SUV!  Funny thing is, I don't recall entering any contest and they got my name wrong anyway.  They called me by my first name and my boyfriend's last name.  If I do enter anything (rarely), I don't use his last name!!!

I pretty much knew it was a scam, but I'm glad this site's out there to help us verify things!!!

We received a message from Angela saying that we have won the grand prize for some drawing and we need to call this number to the prize verification center to verify our information so we can claim our prize--car or cash.  She said on the message that this "won't cost us a dime".  I'm glad I called

Received this call on vmail yesterday.  Christina wants me to call back because my name was drawn in the "Cool Cars, Cold Cash" giveaway.  Claims it's not a sales call, but because of the high value of prizes there is a deadline to return call.

I never enter contests.  NEVER.  So, my guess is it's like other say a pitch for a time-share or other vacation club.  Thought I was on the Do Not Call list - guess I'll have to double check.

This is a tellemarketing scheme telling you that you one a tv or cadilac escalade.  I was told that I had to bring my id and a checkbook or credit card for verification.  I was still a bit curious but when I they said my 2 choices where to bring my wife to kids or just send my wife on her own and not just me on my own they replied by saying "They are trying to do me a favor."   I then asked them what their business sold they told me entertainment packages and they wanted 90 min of my time to just introduce themselves.  You never get something for nothing.  My guess is that they wanted my wife as she would be easier to sell opera ticket packages to rather than myself.
