Our receptionist got burned by same scam when she first started, and we got over-billed for refurbished toner, ink cartridges, etc .  As mentioned above, they will call and ask for your copy machine serial number. Unsuspecting receptionists, trying to be helpful, give them the # (which these morons research for the type of toner compatible to your machine), and the caller innocently asks for the name of the person they are speaking to, thanks them and hangs up.  A few days later, a shipment of toner, etc., arrives. The PO# on THEIR over-priced invoice is the name of the receptionist (or whoever they spoke with). Fortunately, most companies are on to this.  I got a call last week with "private caller" as the ID--no introduction, no company name-and the girl just asked for our copier serial number. I said "No, thanks!" and hung up her!

Yes the same calls come to our office about 4-5 times a day, 5 days a week.  I got her to tell me the company name, she just said "IDC we supply the toner and ink cartridges". I tried to look them up online, but fell short of possible companies that might be listed as such. Usually they just hang up when I ask who they're with, but I guess I got a new person who fell for it. I'm really getting tired of them and would love to file a complaint somewhere!!

Some lady on the other line starts off by saying she needs our companies photo copier ID number. I've had scam calls like this before. I know we have a contract set-up directly with the copier brand we use. She kept asking for it and I as I was telling her no she hung up as if it was accidentally disconnected. Just don't pick up or hang up instantly if any company just starts requesting information on your products without saying who they are first. They called you, not the other way around.

Yes, had this same company call today asking for serial number.  As soon as you start to ask them questions they ussually hang up. Some times they will ask to speak to the person responsible for ordering copier supplies, hang up and then call back later asking for that specific prson.  Don't give them any info.  Scammers.

Got their call this am  If you have time for some fun -- say "Oh sure I can get that for you!" Put them on hold and check back rvery 2 mins or so and say "Just a minute I got interupted by some scam call --- I ll have the number for you in just a minute". Check back until they give up.That can take 10-15 minutes out of their scam time and only takes 30 sec or so of ours as we can do our work while they are on hold. If we all do that they'll go out of business!

HA! I think  got a newbie to the scam game.

He was VERY clearly reading from a script.

"Hi, my name is Mike and I'm calling from the company that manages your copier, I need to double check the model number on the machine."
I asked, "What company did you say you were with?"
"I'm with IDC." <---Usually they hang up on me when I ask this.
"Oh, that's not who does our copier, you must have a wrong number."

These folks always start out by saying "this is so-and-so with the copier company - we don't need a meter reading today, just the serial number from your machine." It's their way to find out what kind of copier you have, so they can start harassing you and trying to sell you stuff. Good advise to ask what their company name is - that changes their tone dramatically! (Usually they hang up).

Receive many calls like this - they ask for your copier serial number, as a scam way to get details on your copier type, so they can sic a sales person on you.

If you ask for the company name, they always hang up!

This call came in to solicit copier information for our office. I asked what company she was with and she said a name I never heard of. I told her we don't work with that company on our copier supplies so why did she need our copier information AND SHE HUNG UP IMMEDIATELY!! Would love to stop getting this kind of harassing calls specially during work

Receive calls from this number asking for the serial number of our copier.  We do not give out that information since this is obviously a hoax.  They are very insistent and always call on the same line at around the same time.  They want you to believe that you have ordered supplies, etc. from them.  If you give them the number you may get tricked into having unwanted supplies mailed to your office with an invoice for payment.  Just ask what company they are calling from and they usually hang up.

Yes, this is someone identified as Diane wanting to go over an increase in our toner supplies for a particular printer.  I told her that we order from a contracted company and she hung up on me.  It's a telemarketer plain and clear.

They called my office today and said very slowly, "This is Lee, I am calling to check up on the office copier.  Can you tell me what the model number is on it?"  I said, "Why would you need that?" and they hung up on me.

They called my job stating that they wanted to check the meter on the copy machine. I gave them the bull horn. They want call back again. When you call the number back they say it is not a long distance number.

This is a scam line.  They will call and pretend to be a provider for some piece of office equipment and ask for a model number or some type of information.  Usually they will call back within a day and let you know of a promotion that is ending soon and will talk their way into sending you something that is overpriced, poor quality, and in most cases won't even be compatible with your equipment.  Don't give them any information at all, just hang up.  It is a SCAM.

did some googling and found the number goes to either a not-very-well-liked pottery place in Redlands, CA.and also some clothing place in Seattle, WA.
Either way, not understanding why [they're] calling a Health Clnic in Ohio.............
