| Is California the scam state?!?! 2012-09-06 16:30:17 Unknown |
The call that I recieved was from 916 287 3958. Wrong post I guess, but still relevant, and scarier because the caller claimed to be from a state legal office in California. I live in Conneticut.
A man with an Indian accent (the dot, not the feather) called my cell phone today from this number. Immediately I got the feeling that this was a scam and told him to p****off, but then he recited the last four digits of my social security number - claiming that there are serious legal claims against me and my social and that I need to listen to him and call a certain phone number. I kept asking who is making these claims against me, yet he would not answer and kept trying to persuade me of the legitimacy of his phone call, stating he was from some office within the attorney general's office in California. He butcher the name of the office. The name he gave seemed to be some variation of a legitimate legal office of the state, but because he spoke in such a thick accent and mispronounced so many words, I thought to myself that if the California states attorney's office highers people like this this country I really F**KED and we are all screwed. I told him to send everything in writing to me and until then Iwho not acknowledge his existence! n the end, I found this website and my suspicions of a scam were confirmed. I thought I'd just add to report so that others know not to put any weight to what these idiots say. If anything it makes me wonder if my entire identity has been stolen, but that is a subject for another thread. Peace.

They've started calling me, and I've contacted the sheriff's department. After I write this, I'm contacting Better Business Bureau. I tried to be nice, and requested that they take me off the list, however the person that answered hung up on me.
Then, this morning they called me before dawn, waking everyone up. The lady said, "We should've been up." I thought my husband was going to go through the phone.
What else can we do? These people need to be stopped, permanently!

Called 3 times at work on the same day. They do not leave a message. Its a distraction and has cost me money because of it. I am reporting the number to the FTC, Washington, D.C., The Attorney General for the State of California (916 area code) , and their local law enforcement. When I find out who the Principals are, I will also sue. Put a stop to calls like this.

Source Receivables? Got a call from these people. Would not identify themselves, legitimate address etc . Would not divulge her name etc When I told her she was on a recorded line, she hung up. Report them to the FTC, Washington, D.C., Your State Attorney General & their telephone carrier. If they do not pull the plug on them, sue the carrier. Its against the law to call a business phone repeatedly. Their distractions hurt the business and make them liable for legal action.

I just hang up. I'm on the DNC list, but that is a joke.

Seventeen calls so far. I have complained to District Attorney's Office, Sheriff's Office, my cell phone provider, multiple complaints on the Do-Not-Call registry (my number has been on that list for six months) and no results from anywhere. It shows as "unknown" in the caller ID, so either the perpetrator has their ID blocked or they are on a phone exchange that is still in the 19th century with no caller ID.
Their stupid recording is so garbled that it's hard to tell what it is even saying. They are always asking for "Stephanie (garbled)" and "press 2 if you are not Stephanie (garbled)". I press 2 and it has no effect.

A GOOGLE search reveals that the phone line provider for 916-248-4358 is:
LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, LLC
1005 North B Street Sacramento, CA 95811-0303
(916) 447-8256
I wonder if we can complain to them?

I emailed the District Attorney's Office and they told me to try the Sheriff's Office. I emailed the Sheriff's Office a few days ago and I have not yet heard back from them, but the calls stopped for a few days. Today, they started again from 916-248-4358. It shows as "unknown" in the caller-ID and I have not been able to find out from any source who these jerks are. If I can find a name and/or an address where I serve legal papers, I will sue them for $500 to $1000 per call plus time and expenses, depending upon what the law will allow. The perpetrator is probably some moron with a computer and no clue as to how to control the computer or the program that keeps dialing everyone. There is no way that I will EVER do business with these jerks, so I don't see why they think that harassing me is going to change that.

This number has called my cell phone fifteen times. The message says if I'm not Stephanie (garbled) press 2. I pressed 2. I still receive the calls. I have filed a number of complaints on the do not call registry site and I emailed the District Attorney's Office of Placer County, California, but have not yet heard back from the do not call registry or the District Attorney's office. If I can find out who these people are and where to send the subpoena or summons, I intend to sue them for $500.00 per call.

Almost 2 years for me too, automated voice keeps asking if N Neal press 1, if not press 2
They call me at my home number which forced me to use AT&T's $7 a month fowarding service to forward all calls to my Tracphone which displays the number so now I just ignore it.
| Rebecca 2010-09-22 20:03:02 Unknown |
These idiots have been told they have the wrong phone number and still they call with their idiotic message (normally to an answering machine) that says if you are not so so hang up. I've hung up and called them back asking my number to be removed from their system since it's the wrong number. Boy are these people dense!!!

This is the third time this automated electioneering message has invaded my life. I called the number later of the candidate, Alberto Torrico, and found the offer of removing my name from the list, which I tried to do, but previous experience with such automated messages from Sacramento has taught me that the identical phone calls keep coming and coming, with no way to block them.
