Same story. I called back and got a company called Asterisk that gave out a bunch of phone numbers for me to call from my computer. When it ended, it played Call=on-hold music. Oy!

It's a scam. Pretends to have been a victim of a computer virus but didn't realize I don't have the sort of computer he claims to have been victimized by.

They are in India.  As such they are beyond the reach of either your fists, or  US law.   And there's a lot of them.  India alone has about a billion people.   You can imagine how many scam call centers there are.

Got a call from this number (john rosewell) about 30 minutes ago. Did not answer but a man with a heavy indian accent left a message, only he didn't say anything about windows... he said he was calling from us bank and wanted to talk about (could barely understand him) medical opportunities?!?! He hung up after "opportunities". After reading all the posts here about computers, I'm wondering, did they change it up and the call about us bank was coincidental, or do they really have some info on us?

Prank Call
Received phone call from this guy with strong accent saying he was with Microsoft Tech Support. He asked for me by name and claimed my computer was sending info to Microsoft indicating dangerous files were being downloaded from the internet without my knowledge. He wanted me to go to my computer so he could help me identify the files and said he would provide software for me to remove them. I told him I wasn't at home and he said he would call back tomorrow at 10:00am. What bothers me most is how did this guy get my name and phone number to start with?

Just got the same call as most others here describe - John Rosewell, Windows worldwide server, error messages. But the voice on the calling end was a woman with a strong Indian accent, not a man.

>> Why there is is not official authority care to stop such annoying criminal phone calls!  <<

Um ... there is!
However, it is extremely difficult to enforce, because the scammers are overseas, using spoofed phone numbers.

Here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

Look here first:

If the reporting site you wanted is not in the above list, try this one:

This number (john rosewell on the caller ID) has called the past 3 days but I didn't answer and after checking the number and realizing it was a scam I'm glad I didn't.  However, this morning they called at 5:30 a.m. my West Coast time and woke me up out of a sound sleep.  (I thought it might be a family emergency) so grabbed the phone and was going to give them a piece of my mind but no one was on the line.

Same situation just happened to me.  Caller said he was from Microsoft and that because they had my computers ID number they were able to discover that someone had hacked into my computer.  He was Indian/Pakistani with a heavy accent.  He said he called  to help me get rid of the virus so the hackers could no longer steal my personal information.  I told him that with all the scammers out there I was skeptical and I asked him for his phone number.  He gave me a 206-456-1859 number.  The caller ID had a number of a "John Rosewell" 917-200-9423.  I looked up both numbers and found that they each had a ton of complaints with the same type of scam.  Is there anywhere to report these people???

I just had the same thing happen and the wanted to guide me through a process to check out the "error" messages that I have been getting.  The man also told me that my windows was sending them messages for the past several weeks.  I eventually hung up on them but not before I got a little more info from them.  The try to get you to type in a web site that the want you run when it comes up.  At this point I hung up and they tried to call me 6 times before they gave up.  I kept asking him the whole time who he was and what was his company name and he said he was from somewhere in southern California but that phone number is in New York.  When he called back I started seeing "Out of area" calls on my phone.  The really do try but I am not stupid.  If he tries to call again I will talk him in circles until he hangs up on me...lol

They just called me and said they are from the Windows Technical Department and my computer is sending them error messages since weeks. They got really mad after I told them I don't own a windows computer. After calm and persistently interviewing the caller who had a strong  Indian accent, they told me they are from IT Solution in Cleveland Ohio - Though it took him some time to google all the information. The caller asked me to tell my wife to shut up in the background (she was very quiet) and his voice became more and more shaky. After 5 minutes and him noticing that he didn't get anywhere, moreover he has to answer my questions rather than me answering his he said "Now you make me really mad!". I asked him why and he hung up. I guess I will not here from him anymore ;-). Nevertheless I went and blocked the number.
If they call again using another number I will put him on hold :-) and then check back after 5 minutes HAHAHAHA

Scam. Said they were from windows server as they were getting a message from my computer and needed me to go turn it on so they could fix it; that someone sent me a bad email. I did have some fun with him before I told him I'd call him back as soon as I verified his information.

Got the call today with a significant pause. I told them they had 10 seconds to answer or I would hang up. Got a heavily accented Indian man who said "hello." I asked who he was calling, and he paused again. I told him he had 10 seconds to tell me what he was calling about, or I would hang up. I guess I did not sound sufficiently gullible to have the call continue.
Good bye and good riddance.

Don't give these scrotes anything but a hard time. They are trying to get access to your computer, don't give them any information.

So, I suspected this was a scam call just by the area code and came on here to check it and I was correct according to the posts, however, I found something else here, a clue perhaps....
One posting showed a web sitte I had looked at 2 days ago as I was searching for an in line water heater for my hot tub.
Not sure if this was an "actual" posting or an invasive ad or what. Does it appear there for anyone else when you search this # ?

It says "Morgan Spa Company"

CALLED MY HOUSE AT 11:46PM EASTERN TIME LAST NIGHT! I didn't pick up, they didn't leave a message. Glad I didn't. I re-upped my Office 365 subscription yesterday, so after reading these complaints the timing is suspect. I was more annoyed at the time they called...I usually worry about family emergencies if somebody calls that late! Ridiculous!!!!

Have been called three times by these people, with the phone number only being revealed this last time. The caller was an Indian man who said he was calling about our computer as he knows we have a Microsoft O.S. (we don't). I twice asked how they got my number and to please stop calling as I have a young baby who is always woken up by their calls (usually around 9pm Pacific time). They have not removed our number from their list (I doubt they will), and continue calling. This definitely seems like some kind of scam.

He said Windows with my computer, I said sorry I don't own one, Good-bye and I hung up. They have a NYC phone number, but they are definitely in a foreign country.

I've gotten numerous calls from this company on numerous phone numbers; obviously a scam company. I puck up the phone and instantly get connected to some guy from India claiming to be someone who can fix my computer. I try asking the company, but the guy goes on and explains a whole bunch of crap, so I say "No Thank You" and hang up, But get this, I call them back, and it's some sort of internet server nonsense. If you get a call from this company (or have in the past), Report Them Immediately!
