You are calling Public Serving Firefighters douche-bags?  Wow....   They are donating their free time to support fire safety programs throughout the community without being paid..... as in, their 'off time.' Their

free time.....

Try answering your phone for a change, so that you can get the real deal on what these folks are about.  They Are on a computer automated dialing system, so they cannot leave voice mail. Sometimes, the computer even hangs up on folks and we can't do much about that.  If you have a concern or just wanna talk to someone, call their main line that i found..... 919-714-7944

Wow... you sound like a typical racist.  What is wrong?  Did some black man look at your woman for one second too many while you were out grocery shopping?    If he did indeed, rudely hang up on you, then you should call the main office and ask them to pull up the recording of the call.  This recording can even be emailed to you, if you wish it so.  I am sure that they will get to the bottom of this. The recording will tell all, if you are indeed, interested.

You can call them direct at:  919-714-7944

* * *  I am willing to bet, that most people don't want to hear a recording of the call, simply because they already made up their minds.  If you don't want to give that is fine..... no need to go back on your word and create a s*** storm because you changed your mind and just don't know how to say it.   Just say, you changed your mind.

... and that is why the Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association never asks for money over the phone.  If you agree to help out, everything is done on the honor system.  You are sent everything; concert tickets, return envelope and a thank you letter covering the basic programs that your money is going to.  These concert tickets are worth $26 a piece, and for us to send them out to you is taking a financial risk on our part.  However, most folks that cannot in the end donate to us, send the tickets back.  We set those tickets aside and donate them to various charities throughout the county.  If you have any questions, please contact us at our main line:  919-714-7944

You will be happy to know, that this person is no longer calling on behalf of the RPFFA.  It is a good thing that all calls are recorded for your protection, and that we were able to listen to these calls and make a sound judgment to not have this person call on our behalf any longer.  Thank you so much for your input.

We will indeed, take your number off of our internal calling list.  Please let us know if you receive any further communication from us.  It is not our intention to make you or anyone else feel like they are being harassed or uncomfortable by our callers.  Our representatives are hooked into an automated calling computer that dials out.  Unfortunately, sometimes the computer is not up to par... and hangs up when you answer the phone.

We know that this problem can be quite cumbersome, and even infuriating at times, but please bear with us.  Calling over computer internet lines is kind of something new, but it saves money.  The more money that the Raleigh Firefighters Association can save, the more money that can go into the life saving programs that they promote on their free time, away from the fire station.  Our tax dollars fund the fire station, fire trucks and brave women and men that come to put out our fires.  However, it is the sale of these concert tickets that help fund the life altering programs like Camp Celebrate, which is a summer camp for children who have survived severe, life changing burn injuries.  It is a place that children can go and be kids... without having to be stared at and fingers pointed at, because they may look different than other kids.  If you can't help out this time around, we understand that and don't want you to feel harassed in any way at all.  All we ask, is that you pass the good word around as to what we are doing and what we are about.  With your word alone... you can make a difference.

CD,

The guys are not supposed to try and make you feel bad about not donating.  If you find that you are ever made to feel this way, then please call 919-714-7944 and we will take you off our 'internal' calling list and we will deal with the employee situation accordingly.  However, if you would like to show up in person to make a donation or to simply check us out, you can do so by coming by our office at:  4109 Wake Forest Rd. # 404.  We are in the four story tan building between the Burger King & Wendy's, at the corner of Wake Forest and New Hope Church Rd....27609.  We are there Mon - Fri 12pm to 9pm.  Please stop in, we would love to see you and tell you all about what it is that we do.

Tootie,

Thanks for spreading dis-information about something you obviously know nothing about.  The Raleigh Firefighters Association is indeed, made up of several active duty firefighters.  It's President is actually a currently active and county employed Fire Captain by the name of Keith Wilder.  Unfortunately, current laws dictate that an active duty firefighter cannot get on the phone and ask for money to support a charitable cause to help better the community in which you live.  Here is Association President Keith Wilder himself, informing everyone what this is all about.

How in the world is this filthy scam good for the community? Maybe because it lets the drug addicts steal money in the safety of some urine-soaked boiler room instead of roaming the streets and robbing gas stations?

If you gave money to these crooks, you're an idiot, but more than likely you're one of them yourself just trolling this site because it's making it tough to trick people out of their hard earned money on the phone.

What a disgusting excuse for a human being you are.

Try actually answering the phone to talk to these folks and you'll see that they are actually calling for something good for the community.  If you don't want any further contact, ask them to take your number off their calling list.  Done... End of story.  Personally, I have given to them three times now because after doing my research, I found that they are actually doing something good for people, and I didn't even have to leave my home to do it.

The Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association is not a 'charity,' nor do they or have ever claimed to be.  Money raised by the Association is however, given to charities throughout all of Wake county, as well as other counties.

I am simply amazed, at the number of people in our society that are not interested in helping helpless children with life altering scars... unless they can write it off on their taxes.  I have supported this organization more than once because what they do actually matters.

Amazon and ebay have some great  blockers...telephones that block are Ok..but they only have 50 number max capacity..that is not enough when dealing with these douche-bags...the one I have has 1500 number blocking capacity and costs around 60 bucks.

I got a call from these folks today too. I let the caller, who sounded like a middle-aged black mail with little education past the eighth grade (suspicious quality there since I have yet to meet anyone in emergency services who had no passable verbal communication skills), before I told him I was an officer myself and out on disability and hence had no money.

He then proceeded to tell me 'have a nice day' and then hung up on me. Now mind you, I've gotten calls from the FoP before, and a few others for fundraising, and none are ever this rude to an officer in my situation. In fact, they usually leave their number and give their condolences before hanging up in the hopes that I'll remember them favorably once I'm back to work.

My vote is: SCAM.

They keep calling asking for my wife.  If I say she's not there, they hang up before I can ask who they are.  I just called the Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association - (919) 714-7944, and they were unaware of this.

Have received three calls on our land line from this number today. No one talks even after I hit random keys or say "hello". Reporting it to the Do Not Call registry in some attempt to end the annoyance.

Cathy, I don't know where you got your information from, and it may be true..but the reality is this organization has NOTHING to do with Raleigh Firefighters, Police or any other Emergency organization in the Raleigh NC area. IT IS A SCAM, they do not nor have they EVER collected money for Raleigh Police or Firefighters. Not one penny goes to our officers, so what makes you think this is LEGIT? Be careful who you send money to over the phone or give personal info to...if I want to donate to the fire department or police department I will walk my butt right up into their office and hand it to them. Thank you.

Caller said Raleigh Firefighters.  He asked for a donation and I asked him for more info about his company and he said, "It was a Yes or no question.  Can we count on you for a donation or not."  Your best bet is to hang up on them!

We are on Do Not Call.  They left no message.  Tried to call to tell them to take us off their list and got a fast busy signal.  Call showed up as "Raleigh NC", but reverse lookup showed it as a Garner, NC land line.

If you look them up, they do somehow qualify as a charity and therefore do not fall under the 'do not call' guidelines.  They and numerous associations like them always call themselves Firefighters or Police something or other, but they are NOT officially part of your communities' force.  They qualify as a charity because they do donate money to widows/orphans of these public servants.  HOWEVER, they take in millions of dollars and only donate a paltry percentage of that (like less than $50,000) to the people they claim they are collecting money for, the rest goes for their 'administrative costs'.  Also, what you donate to them is NOT tax deductible for you.  I have lived in a half a dozen states and in all but one of them I have ended up being called by one of these organizations, their usual modus operandi is to coerce you into buying concert tickets, making it sound like it is tax-deductible until you really pin them down on it.  Do not EVER give these guys any money or even hope of getting money from you, they will call you constantly.
