got a weird text from this number, says vantage credit union, only i dont have vantage credit union... scam???

This is the response I got from Vantage:

Thank you for notifying us about the texts you received.  Unfortunately, these are going out to members and nonmembers alike.  The numbers they gave you have already been shut down.  They are not tied to Vantage and no one has your information, which is why they are trying to get you to respond with your card and account information.  I am very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.  Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you did respond to the text.  Thank you,

I got the same text at 3:11p, but I have no connection to Vantage (unless my CU has shared info). I also am supposed to have incoming texts blocked (Sprint PCS).

the REAL number for vantage is solid busy. you can bet vantage just got thousands of calls about this.

IS ANYONE CALLING VANTAGE TO INFORM THEM OF A DATA-BREACH??

ALL I SEE HERE ARE PEOPLE BLINDLY POSTING THAT THEY GOT A TEXT MESSAGE FROM A SCAM ARTIST.

Received the same message as everyone else - I hope people realize that Vantage is NOT going to send you a text message to tell you something is wrong with your account!!  Be safe out there and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!  People are watching you...and your credit card numbers!  Be careful!

I received two texts "Vantage Vantage CU Alert. (800)-410-1537" and "customer issue, vantage credit union service frozen. please call at 925-415-5334" on 11/29 and 11/30. Sent an email to Vantage Credit Union after calling. No response yet.

My husband and I both just got this exact same text message - "customer issue, vantage credit union service frozen. please call at 925-415-5334".  obviously a scam.  grrr....so annoying.

Anyone get through to calling 314-298-0055 to tell Vantage they may have a data breach from a disgruntled employee?

Received Text Message requesting debit card information.  Per 411.com/reverse phone the provider is Broadwing Communications, LLC Bishop Ranch, CA and it looks like Level 3 owns them.  I have reported the abuse on the Level 3 web-site.

I received a text 11/30/2009 as well, with the same message.  Strange thing is, I have all numbers blocked except phone numbers in my contact list to be able to send text messages.

I received the same text message on my cell phone today (11-30-09).  "customer issue, vantage credit union service frozen.  please call at 925 415 5334"

Got a text message from this joker saying, "customer issue, vantage credit union service frozen, please call 925-415-5334." (Illiterate lack of capitalization was in the original message.)

I also got the same message, same caller ID, but the phone number to call was 803-233-2779. There are a few comments posted under that number, and it is already disconnected and linked to a scam.

I hope they catch this guy and throw his hindquarters in jail.
