Good Afternoon Folks!
I just wanted to chime in on this to provide a different point of view.
I work for Philadelphia Insurance companies, and received a call this morning from an unsuspecting victim of the fabled "Steven Clockwood".
She apparently has responded to his ad for a job, and he sent her a check for nearly $3000 as payment.
Now here's the fun part.... It was on a check from our company. Why an "art dealer" would send a check printed from an insurance company apparently never crossed her mind, but regardless, she attempted to deposit it. Because of our company's security and the bank's procedures, the check was flagged as FRAUD, and now the woman's accounts are frozen.
I am unsure as to whether any money was withdrawn by the mysterious Mr. Clockwood, but I do know this is a headache that could have been avoided.

I got an email from this guy, he called himself Steven Clockwood, about a job offering (from craigslist). It looked really nice and I went with it until he sent me a check that he wanted me to cash in then use for a money order. I took it to the bank and they said it was a fake. Don't do this. If you get an email like the one that gary posted. Delete it and move on!!!!!

I just reported him to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx). If you have the time, please do this to. If enough people send in the same complaint then maybe something will be done about it and this guy, whoever he is, will get caught.

I got the same email, except his name was Steven Clockwood. For anyone looking at this, don't respond and defiantly don't cash in anything that he sends you if you have gotten that far in the process! It's a scam!!!!

Been there done that. The person now has you information. They will send you a check and have you deposit in your account. "DON'T DO IT"!!!!!!!
Two times I have taken the check to my or any Bank to get it verified for funds or that the account exists.
IT DOES NOT, so if you deposited it in your account and have sent them them money thay say they need do complete the errands your supposed to do for them, YOUR OUT THAT MONEY and sitting and finding how stupid you were.
DON"T DO IT.

Aawww im pretty schetchy about it i saw this add on craighlist about a job offering as a receptionist in my area and when i replied i got this weird job offering. So as soon as i wrote him back he told me more details about the job basically shipping items out & buying artworks etc. Now i feel dumb because i gave him my info. & i received a check today for $2300 saying hes paying me upfront for my service etc. im really concerned whether this might be a scam though?
