Received a call just like the ones described above at work today.  Strong indian accent.  Said they needed to update existing information.  Then I got transferred to someone else named Kevin who wanted to verify my information several times. Always wanted me to explicitly say "Yes".  Whenever I said "correct", he asked if that was a "Yes". At the third time he wanted me to repeat the business information I asked if he was serious.  He said he needed to go over it one more time.  When I asked why, he hang up.  I hope it wasn't too late.

This happen to me to the tune of 815.00. They have been charging me since 12/07. It isn't A T & T's fault. They are required by law to let them do it after the breakup of the company, Of course, there must be authorization by the party that is charging you on your phone bill. But that seems to be on the honor system. Call your congressman and tell them that this is absurd and they need to change the law. When I discovered it I called the number on my bill and told them that I was going to file charges with the FCC because I was on the "Do not Call List" and those fines are huge. They quickly told me that if I signed a waiver to release OBA from any additional complaints, legal action, ect they would credit the money back to me. It is true, I'm on the "Do not Call" list and they looked it up. I asked for additional confirmation on expediting the refund before I signed anything. Get on the "Do Not Call" list if your not on now.

They called to update our infoa nd said he was Verizon online pages.  I told him it was all accurate and why I had to do an automated system next. He got rude and basically said its the only way for them not to call our company for 2 years. I hung up. Until the next time... I will be sure if they call again to tell them our company along with numerous others have reported their company and number as a SCAM!

I got the charges taken off - - DON'T TALK TO THESE PEOPLE - I remember getting the call and telling them that I did not want anything to do with them and they still somehow charged my phone bill - isn't that theft?

Definitely a scam. "Online Business Assoc." charged me $39.95 for website hosting by way of "Enhanced Services Billing" on my AT&T phone bill. I called the Online Business Assoc phone number 20 times. A message would inform me that all agents are busy, then dump my call. So I called the number for Enhanced Services Billing... about 6 or 7 times the same thing happened. But I finally got through. A Mexican who barely spoke English gave me the run around and refused to remove the charge. The only thing you can do is call AT&T and report billing fraud. Good luck... this ordeal sucked away two hours of my life.

oh, yes..This is a scam.  When I called Enhanced Services to inquire about the charges on my phone bill, I was told that it was for an online web hosting site.  I told them I didn't buy anything like that and they told me that I had updated information for it.  I then told them that I was told the information was for a free listing and I would absolutely not be billed for anything.  Enhanced Services then told me that I had 14 days on the free listing and I was mailed out a letter stating if I wanted to cancel the website I had to contact them.  I said why would I cancel something I didn't buy?  I point blank told them that this was a scam.  I can't believe AT&T would bill their customers for a scam.  I am sending this to the attorney general's office and AT&T hasn't heard the last of me.  This should be considered for a class action lawsuit.

I also received a call from them this number today.

"Updating" my business info which is allegedly already in the registry. After confirming my details, he transfered me to someone else who I then asked to know with whom I was speaking and for their website. She told me a fake address: www.onlinebusinessassociates.com. When I told her it did not work, she told me it must be my computer because it worked for her. She then told me she would call me back, which of course she did not do.

An Indian Woman called and said she needed to update existing info in a free online listing for the Online Business Association. I said I was not the owner, but I gave her my name which was probably a mistake, but no other info was obtained. However, I did confirm the name of the business and phone number. Then the woman said to hold on so she could transfer me to her "business associate" and at this point I hung up before the connection could be made. I just had a gut feeling that this was a scam. I hope they did not scam me somehow. These people must be calling every business in the yellow pages trying to pull this off scam. I hope this warning helps someone.

Female caller claiming updating/confirming our business address and phone number for Yellow Pages. After confirming, she transferred me to a "manager" to "further confirm" our business information. This manager, a male, slipped in that we're agreeing to have a free web information packet mailed to us. He became frustated, when I questioned this and clarified not interested if it's those free trial offers that charge after a certain time period. Also, mentioned that I'm not the business owner to make this decision.  At that point, he became rude and told me that he never said I was the business owner.  I told him that I never said he claimed that, but was basically communicating this information to him . . . then I hung up because enough of my time was wasted by what now sounded like telemarketing.  Also, seemed as if calling from some call center in another country, I'm guessing India, based on both caller's accents.
