Got a call on my cell with a woman saying she was from some bank (don't remember which one) and that my visa had been deactivated. I just hung up. I don't give my cell out to everyone and I knew it was not so. They called at 10:30 pm.

same problem. I called them back and got some "mobial" company. Automated message told me to wait to speak with a representative, then dumped me to a general voicemail. I left a message saying not to call me at my number.  Don't know if that will do any good, but it made me feel like i at least did something. haha

We got a call tonight and my husband pressed "1".  Luckily, the line went dead and I checked the number on Google and learned that there was another step that we missed.  No one asked for our card number, so I'm hoping they have no access to any rights just by pressing "1".

We have three cell numbers that are all in a row and all received a call from this number one right after the other. People like this make me sick.

I just got a call saying the exact same thing. I pressed one to see if there would be any legitimate proof that this call wasn't a scam. It right away asked for my card number... yeah right, No way! I hung up and googled the number. Glad I did!

odd i know it was a scam when it said my card was deactivated so i called back 15 times and a lady said each time wrong number. On 16 call she finally asked who is this and i told her this phone number is breaking several federal laws and if i get another call I am reporting to secret service. She said don't do it that they are a law firm and there number was hiijacked and she has been getting alot of calls about it. Yeah right you answer at a law firm wrong number. Off to secret service website for me.

Called this afternoon 8/24/2009 at 5pm East Coast time. Caller said that my debit card was de-activated.  RIGHT!  I hung up and keyed telephone number into Google to get to this webpage.

Good job in spreading the word.  SCAM/Phising/Waste of time!!!

Got the same call... Don't ever give any information to anyone that can't identify you by name. Especially do not reply to something that is automated.

Called me and told me the call was from the local county business dept and that my card had been deactivated for security purposes. I was then prompted to press "1" to reactivate it. I pressed "1" and without any other information was told to enter my card number in so my CC could be reactivated. Obviously a phishing scam.
