Perhaps we should report this number to the FBI or the CIA.  Doubt it would do any good.

Comcast really should add more than 12 numbers we can block. Like 12 is great, but my cell phone can block unlimited numbers will the Call Control App.

Besides the fact that these people ignore do not call lists, they called a home where a very ill person is recovering from serious health issues. Only necessary phone calls from family or medical people should be coming through. They obviously don't care about harassing individuals, obviously don't care about violating the law, and when I asked the a***ole on the phone where he was located, he mumbled something then disconnected the call. They obviously don't care to disclose who they are.

And the line that they are responding to FBI concerns? Just a manipulative snake tactic.

I hope DNC can track them down and fine them. I was received a $100 American Express gift check from a company apologizing for violating the do not call list after I reported them. It was better for the company than getting fined by the government, and I got to go shopping.

Turn them in to the DNC. https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

More likely the FBI will come looking for the person who mobilizes the FBI terrorist task force to track down a telemarketer.

While you raise some good points, people who answer sometimes learn the ACTUAL identity of the callers, which is useful for FCC/FTC prosecutions, law enforcements, and lawsuits enforcing the telemarketing laws. Hence, some of these people are not stupid, but know they must pick it up a huge notch if we are to make it more difficult to illegally telemarket.

Today's call from this number was a female ROBOT voice calling on behalf of Directors Financial Group, Inc. of Lake Forest, CA peddling mortgage re-fi's. After pressing "1," Nayexi, direct # = 949-566-8640 from Directors took the call. A settlement demand is forthcoming tomorrow.

On the other hand, Maria at 760-646-4774 called 2x from "ADT Security" yesterday, and not being sure who was actually calling, we set up an appointment for this evening. A very pleasant gentleman named Matthew Ferguson, Alarm License ACE # 95298, showed up on behalf of "Integrity Security," which he said is an independent authorized ADT dealer. We relayed a settlement demand for Mr. Ferguson to present to Maria. When one calls that #, a message from Maria comes on, so this 760 # appears to be a working #. Finally, we asked Mr. Ferguson to tell Maria that she nneds to mail her company's written DNC policy pronto.

Same old, same old - multiple calls for the free security system.  If the feds actually enforced the law one of two things would happen:

1.  The federal deficit would disappear almost overnight
or
2.  We would stop getting these calls.

I suggest contacting your representative and senator to report the ineffectiveness of the DNCR

Contractor for Monotronics, the only way to stop this is to get the Digitone 10, the do not call lists do not work, and yes I do report them.  The Digitone allows you to block 80 numbers and or area codes, it costs around $100 but is well worth it.  I do not sell it or have anything to do with selling or the company.

I can't tell whether you are joking or not. DNC, in this instance, refers to Do Not Call list, not the Democratic National Comittee!

I do not know anyone in Irvine, California, which is where this call says it's from. So I have never picked it up. There is never a message on my voicemail. My voicemail even says if you aren't going to leave a message, do not call back. It also says that I do not answer calls I do not recognize. So what do they get out of this repeated calling? HATE THESE PEOPLE!!!

This is one of many bogus numbers that calls me. I do enjoy pressing 1 to speak to an agent and making the F word the second one out of my mouth before they cut me off; I do feel sorry for the people that have to field calls all day, but maybe working fast food ain't so bad after all!

Okay folks, I'll make this as EZ as I can for you!
1. DNC is simply another government waste.  Did you really think it would work?
2. If you have Caller ID - Just screen your calls.  If possible just pick up - hang up in one motion!  Don't let it go to an Answering Machine or VoiceMail.  They will then know yours is a working number.
3. If you have a cordless phone - you can block out the 'frequent callers'.  10 is usually max you can block.  (There is also something called 'Digitone Call Blocker' on the market - In my case not worth the $$$)
But, if some of you are retired as I am - we have an advantage....  I have a phone right at my PC and do all of the aforementioned, but I also keep a log with caller number, caller ID and frequency - then I monitor and change out the blocked numbers depending on frequency.  As of today I've logged 187 numbers.  Usually after the quick 'hang-up' routine (2 above) or successful blocking two or three times - they just don't call again.  To be sure - I never delete a number from my log!
How's it working - I currently 'may' get one or two of these dummies a week.  So...I'd say it's working fine!  It has become somewhat of a hobby!!!  LOL  But, as I say I have the time....  So it's EZ

DNC

THAT MEANS DO NOW CALL

Ever since we joined that we have gotten these calls and more.

Never should have gotten on the DNC list

It is worthless and more

Many of our friends didn't join and are not bothered

We don't answer calls if we don't know who they are but they keep calling.

If we block a number they call from another. Just like the last number changes or something everything else is the sam.

I thought it was a relative from Orange County (area code 949) so picked it up and said her name.  But just dead air.  I said hello hello several times, still dead air.  What is their purpose in calling and not saying anything to a live person who answers the phone???

I try not to answer calls from unknown numbers and never answer a call when the caller ID is blocked.  But I answered this number as I have family in the area.  DNC useless as stated.  However, now when they call and I recognize it,  I sometimes answer and string them along while I'm still working away on the computer.   "On how interesting, tell me more." and  "Can you hold on for a moment?" are some of my favorites.  Sooner or later they figure it out but it gives me some twisted sense of pleasure to waste their time and energy for a change.  And while they're talking to me, they aren't calling someone else.

Would you believe that a "friend or neighbor" has given them my number?  They want to give me a "free wireless home security system that will be monitored by my local police, fire and medical".  Even free installation!  Can you beat that?

Very similiar to "free security system" calls I have received from 425-336-8219 and 360-322-6269 in the last couple of weeks.  If you actually talk to them the first thing they will phish for is personal information which of course will include a credit card or bank account number to verify you are who you say you are.

These are scammers using auto-dialing equipment (robo callers) and they could care less about the DNC system.  Only honest telemarketers will comply with DNC.

You should file complaints about this type of (attempted) telephone fraud with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)  http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/phonefraud/report.shtml and /or the Federal Communications Commission: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints.  Also file a complaint with your state's attorney general's office.  In Florida the AG's website: http://myfloridalegal.com/Contact.nsf/Contact

I just got a call from theis "home security" place.  When I dialed 1 to speak with a "rep," as soon as I said I'm a Do Not Call List, the guy hung up.  Same thing yesterday from 206-445-6247.  These do***e bags can't wait to hang up.  I laugh because the first thing the automated voice says is Don't hang up, this is not a solicitation/sales call.

Looked at my Caller I.D. and didn't pick up. This phone number (from Irvine, CA) calls repeatedly. There was no message.  Get multiple calls like this one daily even though my phone numbers (including fax) are listed on the Do Not Call Registry.
