Debt Collector
I received a phone call from a restricted number.  I never answer calls from restricted numbers so it went to voicemail.  On the voicemail, this woman named Danielle Wright says that I will be served over the next 2 days and need to be at home between 12pm - 5pm and have two forms of ID and that if I am not there she will come to my job.  The phone number she gave was 884-3375 no area code and she called me by my maiden name.

Here's the thing. She didn't state what it was about just gave a fake case number and stated that it was a court case out of Sacramento County  .Also, they used my maiden name, which I have been married for over three years now.  I called it with no AREA CODE to see if it was a local number, the person that answered the phone didn't know what I was talking about.

Obviously this is a scam.  If you get a call from this number/name, report it to your local police to open an full investigation.  I have also contact the FTC, hopefully these people won't be able to hurt anyone else.

Debt Collector
I got a call from a company regarding a debt of my daughters that is paid. They told me to call the 949-945-5735 number. I did. They told me who the original debt was from but have an "current address" that we have not lived at for better than 2 years. I told them the debt was paid and that we have a letter to prove it. When I faxed the letter to them, they told me it was not sufficient proof, as the numbers were incorrect and that it would proceed to the "district attorney's" office. When my daughter called them, they got very nasty and when she told them that she was contacting an attorney regarding this, they told her that if she called them again they would call the police and then hung up on her. I've filed a complaint with the Wa Attorney Generals office, consumer protection division. This company is a complete scam. They kept asking us for the original account number. If they were real, they would have had that number. They throw around words like summons, district attorney and the like as scare tactics. I have never dealt with a collections company that did business like this. It's a complete fraud!

This is actually the second number that "Legal Support Services" has contacted me from. The original message that they left said it was in regards to the loan on my new car. I have talked to them 3 times. 1 guy's actually really nice but I had questions about which debt this was & he couldn't answer any of them. The other guy that called was a real jerk. Didn't ask who I was, just said that he had a summons to serve 'me' and needed to verify my address. That phone call didn't go as hot. My summons was supposed to be here on May 19th...nothing & didn't hear from them until monday night when they left a message on my work number to call this number back. I have yet to receive a collections letter, have poured over a credit report from all 3 bureaus & nothing

The number on the caller ID is a different. It is 657-859-4581but the number that they ask you to call back is this one - 949-945-5735. They say something about having a subpoena but haven't been able to find you. They've called me once but they had the wrong number.

I received a message today.  When I saw the incoming call was from a blocked number, I didn't answer, but when they left a message, I listened to it.  The same story as the rest of you (aside from the not-so-incognito collectors' silly tales).  They have a court order to serve me with a summons and they're going to serve it between the hours of 9 and 3 at such and such address.  Since I lost everything a few years ago, I don't have any assets for collectors to chase after, not even a checking account, and I imagine the foreclosure I went through has pretty much destroyed my chances for restoring my credit rating in this life time, So, I really wasn't all that concerned about the call.  I was curious enough to google the number, though, and while I'm sorry you folks were bothered, I'm so glad you reported it.  It brightened my evening.  I have dealt with my creditors already and none of them hid behind blocked phone numbers or left me cryptic messages.  Some of them were lying scum and some were actually quite understanding,  but not one of them acted like this caller and I believe it's a scam.
One more detail, they included a case number in the message and I googled that, too, and there wasn't a single match, nothing even close, so I know that was bogus.

Scared, I could not agree more with your apprehension.
I thought I had settled all my husband's divorce debts (that crazy ex-wife did some vile things!) .
I called the number and in a calm tone and through validating statements, I got way more info than probably should have been released (which made me wary).

Like you, I'm wondering how they got the number they got, his cell number, in my name.
Don't underestimate the abilities of collection agencies to get what they want.  Also, verify the info (demographics, debt, etc) for accuracy because in my mess I have found that they are on a mission to collect money and often times mistakes are made in their accounting.
Hope this helps and get wary, not scared!

I got these calls as well.  As mentioned before, summons, old address, mispronunciation of name....
Well, me being the skeptic thought is was a scam.  My husband and I ignored the first call, and on the second call, I got curious.  I called the number, and after talking with them, I discovered that this number is to a collections agency.  There was no summons...they are trying to collect debt.  Yes it was debt that my husband's ex-wife lumped him with.  No secrets there.
But my skepticism persisted.  I don't have credit cards or debit cards or any mode of payment that can be stolen... cash and carry.  They did want my credit card number but since I didn't have one, they didn't get one and they say they will send me paperwork  and payment coupons to settle this debt so that it does not go to court and become a ding on my husband's credit.
So, I'm waiting to see the writing and if I get it, I will pay the obligation.  No documentation, no deal.
So, the skeptic waits...........

I was just contacted last week regarding a 700 dollar debt with a credit card. I have paid off all my credit cards, or at least I thought.  At first I received a call from a guy who stated he was with a proces serving company and wanted to know if I was going to be home so he could deliver lawsuit paperwork.  I told him no and he gave me information to contact a David Morris at this number. Anytime I have tried to call him, he has answered. Today my husband tried to call him and a call center answered with a really bad echo and they were unable to give the name of the company.   I got copies of bank statements trying to figure out whether I paid this debt and of course al the transactions on my account just say authorized pymnt and whatever the amount is.  I called my bank today and am waiting for them to call me back. I will be calling my attorney to ask for help too. The people who I spoke with last week also told me that we were being charged with fraud if we didn't pay it.   Plus, they are calling my cell phone wich is in my name, not my husbands, and the debt is only in my husbands nae ad not mine, but yet thy are talking to me and not him????  This David guy called me again today except he called from a different number this time.   Both numbers I have are registered in orange county california.   I will pay the debt, but until I a POSITIVE that it's not a scam.

I received a call telling me to call Legal Support Services at 949-945-5735 or they would serve court papers at my home.  I contacted an attorney who tried to find out information about this company.  They told me to call them back and ask for their mailing address, and ask them to contact me only through the mail.  However, when I called back there was no answer.

Travis is obviously a debt collector.  Travis, give me a break here.  Unless a collection agency is a law firm, they cannot contact a person a person about a subpoena and then represent they would file a judgment.  This is insane.  You cannot have a judgment without a lawsuit and a collection has to hire a lawyer to sue on their behalf which means a lawyer would have to be making the call.

I received a call on 4-20-11 and the male called me by the wrong first name but correct last and said if i did not call Chris Thompson by tomorrow they would say i received the several court date notices they sent and take me to court. I never recevied any letters and no one has come to the door. I believe it is a scare tactic to get people to pay more money then they owed years ago on a credit card.

WOW!!! Recieved a "private call" on my cell phone, when i answered, some guy asked to speak to a legal adult between the hours of monday thru friday of 8am-5pm, that could verify they've reached me and they needed to leave a message. When i asked who he was, he replied " I am just a legal representative contacting you for a company by the name of, "ABA, INC.", he wouldnt tell me his name or where he was calling from. He then proceeded to tell me that there have been multiple attempts to locate me at an old job that i had like 6 years ago and just gave me the name of the street i live on, and said that, theyve made multiple attempts to subpeona me and contact me by email, phone calls, by mail and by coming to my house. I told him that's not possible because i am unemployed and am home 24-7 and i have not recieved any calls, emails, letters or anyone a knocking on my door. He told me that he was just relaying the matter and that i needed to call a "Mr. Ben Davis" who is the plaintiff that is suing me....at 949-945-5735, regarding an "in-house" case# of 96615. I asked again who he was and where he was calling me from, because if this was a real "Civil" matter like he claimed, he should of been a  court clerk calling from a superior court house. he replied with an attitude and very rudely,  "it doesnt matter who i am and i know nothing about what this matter is regarding, that i need to call Mr. Ben Davis. i asked then where is this matter supposedly taking place, and he replied san diego. I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE EVEN BEEN NEAR THERE and have never had any matter regarding san diego county, I live 3 counties away!!! So, of course i freaked out, but then got smart about it. I googled the number and it turns up this number is linked to fraud. I called every superior court house in the state i live in and guess what?? There is nothing...absolutely nothing on any court records of anyone suing me, and no such person of a MR. Ben Davis at that number, and ABA, Inc. is that national bar exam for people that have to take to become a lawyer. So all in all, this is complete BS and fraud and liars trying to get your information. If you recieve this call, simply hang up. Trust me, if you were being sued by someone or trying to be subpoena'd...you would know it. The court system would contact you and if they couldnt reach you, the DMV and the Courts have all your information and you would have a sherriff a knocking on your door to subpoena you. I cannnot believe the nerve of some scum bags out there. Absolutely ridiculous. Besides, you wouldnt recieve a "private call" and not given any information about the person calling, if he had my number then Mr. Big Bad Ben Davis would have it too..why isnt he calling me...hheelllllllooooo. You should go back to school and really get educated if you are going to try and scam people.
