On Saturday, 05/05/12 *YES - I received a call from an ETHAN JACKSON, CARD MEMBER SVCS., ATLANTA, GA. *Went through the "routine".*When I stated that I had no credit debt ETHAN JACKSON stated "you're a d**khead" and hung up. *Filing a complaint with Do Not Call Agency is of little use. *I have been filing complaints to the DNC for years - to no avail! *ALSO - on the DNC website, the DNC gives instructions as to how a "company or business" can PAY to SUBSCRIBE to the DNC and receive a list of REGISTERED "Do Not Call" numbers so the said "company or business" will know who NOT to call. *DUH-H-H-H!! *Is the DNC Agency working on the solution to the problem of these calls - OR- is the DNC Agency part of the the problem? *Isn't this an interesting conundrum? *Maybe we should start filing complaints to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the Do Not Call Agency? ****EVERYONE reading this message BEWARE of pressing 9. *It could connect you to an overseas or long distance number.**** *All these companies have to do is look in the white pages of any community anywhere to get names and phone numbers to use for these annoying nuisance calls. *These companies do not have to check any Do Not Call. *I dunno - maybe if enough of us keep calling the FTC - something will be done to stop these calls.
*I, too, have never heard of a "000" prefix. *You can check out location of a prefix by going to the following website: http://www.thedirectory.org/pref/ *I will check out the "000" prefix to satisfy my curiosity.
*PLEASE be very careful about "pressing 9". *That can connect you to an overseas or long distance number!
This Card Member Services is some con game. I have gotten numerous calls from this
company from different phone numbers in all parts of the nation... Who are they
I called this number back after they have called several times in 1 day(today) and woke my son up! so now i am pissed off more than anything. i called the number back, and it says it has been disconnected or i dialed the wrong number! b***s***, then how it is allowed to call anyone if the number does not exist! so i tried looking it up. and as i read everyoen talking about credit card companies im starting to think thats who it is because i have had this call from several DIFFERENT numbers. Im getting sick of this s***, what happened to our "privacy" or "respect"
Call after call after call. Say not interested & they still call.
Some agency has to stop this!
I got a call from this number too but I just ignored it. Something is fishy; I never heard of any phone number with a prefix of 000.
Unfortunately they don't adhear to do not call and constantly change their number. All you can do is fill out the FCC do not call complaint form. It takes about ten minutes for each complaint for to be filled out. Funny thing is if they're calling all of us, they have to be calling the FCC people on their personal phones too. EVEN THE CALL TYPE BELOW DOESN'T SPECIFY THIS TYPE OF CALL!
unknown solicitation, i did not answer it
From what I have been able to put together on calls from Credit Card Services or a like named company, they use a Robo caller from numbers like the ones below:
302-394-9659 281-217-0241 503-457-1102
619-279-1287 708-417-2636 949-527-1674
213-791-8623 610-606-4600 773-449-5041
316-789-1356 832-457-4063 503-468-5545
212-249-2549 800-847-2900 480-359-4336
The source of your number on their list seems to be from the 3 Credit Bureaus and the Direct Marketing Association. Credi Card Services buys a marketing list from the Credit Bureaus and DMA then harvests contact names and phone numbers from this list. They can not get account numbers on the list, but you are on the marketing lists if you have some kind of credit to be listed (Home loans, credit cards, phone bills, electric bills, cell phone bills, etc).
You can opt out of the marketing list with the Credit Bureaus, it takes a month or so to take effect. To do it, log onto:
To opt-out of telemarketing calls:
Responsible marketing companies respect your choice to not receive telemarketing calls. DMA members, as a condition of membership, are required to suppress the phone numbers of individuals who have notified the DMA that they do not want to receive telemarketing calls.
If you would like to opt out of telemarketing calls, send your complete name, address and telephone number to:
DMA Telephone Preference Service
P.O. Box 1559
Carmel, NY 10512
As a DMA member, Experian subscribes to and suppresses any phone number on the DMA's Telephone Preference Service file from its telemarketing lists.
Contact the Credit Bureaus (google search) and use the Bureaus websites, to Opt-out.
I also use the call blocking feature of my wireless carrier to block calls from Credit Car Service. every day I add new numbers to block from this company.
Annoyed in PA
Keep getting calls and hang ups same number. How do you stop these scams seems not answering doesn't stop them?
Automatic message about my "credit card" rates going up, and I should have received a letter.
Did not mention what credit card, bank, any specifics just to press 9 to speak with a respresentative to reduce my credit card rates?????
I immediately HUNG UP....this is annoying since this number has repeatedly called my number for the past several months, leaving no message.
Received a call today on my cell phone (which is on the do-not-call list). The call started with a pre-recorded message about credit card rates and implied I received a letter. When I pressed 9 to talk to a person, I asked for the business name so I could file a do-not-call complaint with the FCC and FTC. They identified themselves as Card Member Services out of Atlanta, GA. At first, they promised not to give another call. Then they asked for my first and last names. When I declined to give them, they said then I'd be receiving more calls. I said they were not allowed to refuse to remove my number because I wouldn't give a first and last name, and they said goodbye.
I keep getting calls from this number and they hang up every time I pick up the phone.
Got first call from this number. No message. I tried to call back and call could not be connected.
Guess do not call rules do not apply to these people.
I get called almost everyday from the same type of company offering to lower rates.
Just says California Call, ring three times hang up. Called Back no answer.
Just got a call now from them, no message or anything. Looks like this will be the first of many from what it sounds like..
They call and never leave a message. SPAM calls.
Keep receiving calls from 951-000-2145. Very annoying.
Said they were my credit card company (never specified what company) and that my rates were scheduled to go up or have recently gone up (again no specifics given). The recorded voice said to press 9 to lower my credit card interest rates or stop the increase. I hung up at this time.
