I had the same problem just recently this year with Mike and Megan of Professor Mortgage. They took $1,000 from me tried to get more, but after finding out how they did nothing to help me I stopped dealing with them just long enough for them to pack there bags and close there office. Have you had any luck with the Victim of Fraud Dept. I have not herd any thing back and it's been 6 months. I want my money back from these thieves!!!

RE: Professor Mortgage

I'm writing this post in hopes that anyone having dealt with Professor mortgage can give us more insight and information on this company. I am leaning towards giving them the upfront fee of 1k &  I would really like to hear from someone REAL who has COMPLETED the loan modification process with them and has experienced a verifiable positive result.

I think that all of us homeowners can pool our information and weed out the good companies from the bad.  If not professor mortgage, I would appreciate any verifiable references to a legitamate Loan Mod company from people who have successfully completed the process. Below is my experience with Professor Mortgage, hopes this helps!

I went and saw their office in Sunrise. The office looks legitimate, however I didn't see any lawyers on the premises.  We spoke with Michael Montry (represented himself as a manager) who says they have lawyers in-house.  We are doing our research on this company and haven't found much saying they're a scam except one entry on rip-off report.

This seems promising, but they also haven't been doing business under this name for that long.  However, this can be explained by the fact that Loan Modifications are relatively new & trendy right now because of the current state of the market.

They did tell me they would give me 100% of my money back if I did not qualify for the loan mod. However, I spoke with someone else on follow-up phone call and he said I would not receive the entire amount back.

spoke to a guy who was fishing...after i showed the slightest bit of interest, the main guy called me... but i forgot his name.... after going through all the info...  they wanna charge me 1 month's mortgage payment (about $3k)... and they claim to save 400-500/month on reducing my rate....
IDK - paying up front $1k, then another $1k... last $900.... all without knowing for sure what my final outcome will be.... doesn't sound safe.
IDK if this is a SCAM....but I'm not really comfortable with any of this at all.... Can't I contact my mortgage co. & request to modify my loan???

My name is August Johnson. I am the manager for Professor Mortgage. I have been working with Felipe for 5 years and I trained him.He is one of the best in the in the industry. I belive that you were mis quoted or you misunderstood about skipping a payment. There is no such thing as "skiping a payment"but if you are in the position where you can't offord your mortgage payment and paying us. Then if it is between paying us to get your modification complete and paying your mortgage then if you want to save your home. You are going to pay us! If you have any questions about this or how to obtain a modification give me a call. Office 954-746-9260 or on my cell 561-436-2755

Just received a call from 954-958-0326 - the man asked for me by name, when I acknowledged I was that person, he hung up.  Called him back (thansk caller ID!) and he said that he didn't call me.  Ummmm - yes you did!

Obviously some scheme....

I received a call also.  I gave the same info and received a call back the next day from Alan Lueck.  We went over lots of details regarding our loan and financial situation. I have called their office several times and spoke to Alan and Lynn, the office assistant.  My husband and I are just a little anxious about sending all our financial info to someone in Florida.  I also checked with the BBB and found nothing.  We have checked other modification people and the fee is pretty similar with all of them.  How do you know who to trust?

I got the same call from James on Tuesday and gave him the same information.  On Thursday Alan Leucek called me back and explained in detail what would be needed to file a modification with my current bank.  I have numbers to call him back at AND I've received e-mails from them will all the information along with their website address, www.professormortgage.us.

Now I have called the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and the Florida version (Sun Biz) and there haven't been any complaints filed against this company as of yet.  Although my husband and I are trying to get a loan modification we are also trying to see if there are other companies who aren't charging this charge.  I want to make sure this is a "common" thing with mortgage companies before I spend our hard earned money on something so important to us as our home.  I have come too far to lose my house if this is a scam!

I got the same call from Felipe yesterday.. But It seems all to good to be true.  I dont like the part where you have to pay $1000 up front and he even said to me that they would work with me even if I skip this month payment and payed them the amount I was goin to pay my mortgage.. Doesnt seem accurate to me at all.

Also got call from 954-958-0326. Guy identified himself as Felipe from Professor Mortgage saying my name came up as someone who may be qualified for a "Loan Modification" under Obama's latest stimulus package. He said that their service was not offering a re-fi for my house but would instead attempt to renegotiate the terms of my mortgage to get me a fixed rate mortgage with both a lower rate and a lower principal balance. He said I would still be paying my current mortgage provider. I'd just have better terms. Cost quoted was approx the equivalent of one month's mortgage payment with a 100% money back guarantee if they can't do anything (ie: pay first then get results). I'm a cautious guy when dealing with some stranger who calls me out of the blue and asks for money (regardless of what he wants it for). I am poking around to make sure this isn't a scam. One site lists this number as belonging to Centricon, a real estate company in Boca Raton, FL (http://webapps2.planetrealtor.com/tln/tln_fir ... irm=C&csuppress=). Felipe gave his contact number as 954-746-9260. I'm still investigating this one.

I answered the call.  The person identified himself as James, and that this was not a telemarketing call.  Somehow my name came up as a potential candidate for a low rate FHA type "Loan Modification" for our home mortgage.  If qualified, we would be able to modify our loan to a low fixed rate.  The potential rate quoted was low, so I volunteered some basic information like:  How long we have owned the home, how much we paid, current monthly payment, guesstimate of current value, etc.  Nothing beyond the name and address was asked for, so I feel my identity is secure.

James will have to provide this information to his supervisor who will call at a later time.  I asked him what the name of the company is, and he responded it was professor (like in teacher) Mortgage Corporation.  A quick Google search cam eup with nothing.  So I plugged in the telephone number and found this site.

We shall see if I get a call back.

it is a auto phisher for 4 insurance company. Number is registered to a call center for "who is home" phishing servers. Which is when you pick up and say hello but no one is there. builds a database of best time to call you. Thus the 8 times a day with this number. call the number and be forwarded, leave a message and ask them to stop calling.

I got a call from them too. I looked it up and they are a real estate company. I figured they are telemarketing to get people to refinance with them. The next time they call, I would answer and tell them you are on the no call list!
