Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I got a message from fcs saying they had fraud papers on me. I called back but the person that called me was not available.They gave me the name craig smith 970-300-1973 ex 305, He said I owed 1000;00 for a payday loan. I asked him for the name of the creditor and he said he would read a list of creditors and if one sounded familiar to tell him. None were faminiar.
I told him under the fdcpa I am entitled to a validation stating the name of the original creditor the account number and the
amount owed plus a copy of the signed contract. He said ok and then said goodbye. Its been 3 weeks and no letter. I changed my phone number since this is a scam.

Never Never pay people over the Phone if you don't know what they are calling about!!!!

I have been getting these calls too. Im sure just a new tactic to get you to call. Says my name has been mentioned in a fraud? Im thinking they are playing with us since the Target Breach and everyone has panicked now about fraud being out there. They really need to come up with some better ideas to try to scam people. Its 2013, GOOGLE is out there to look up their numbers.

I got a call from this number yesterday.  I answer the phone from 970-300-1793 and it was a recorded call and said there was case in my name for check fraud.  I got a call again today but I did not answer it and they did not leave a message.  So I called the number back from a different number and the gal answered receptionist how may I direct your call.  I proceed to ask her for the company name and she said again receptionist how may I direct your call so asked again what company is this and she just hung up the phone on me.  So I am going to block there call so they wont bother me anymore.  I say one thing SCUM SUCKERS

Told me that I had received a payday loan in 2012. That I had committed check fraud, and two other charges. They told me I could settle it over the phone for $878.49. I told the lady I had never received a payday loan to go ahead and charge me. They had my social security number and everything.

I recieved the same phone message for the past few days. same person  the part that scares me is my name is involved with some kind of investigation or something like that!

I've been getting calls from them.  It's definitely a scam!  They have no reason to call me!

i have gotten three calls in two days from this number saying you infolved in an investigation. they give there name but don't know yours ?

I just received a call from these people.  Do not remember the lady's name that contact me but the company is called "Recovery Solutions".  She told me that I needed to give her the name and number to my attorney because charges are being brought up against me for Fraud.  She told me what it was regarding.  She had my old bank institution.  But the company she said it was from was a company I was not familiar with.  I've taking out Pay Day Loans before. These people destroyed my 3 of my bank accounts.  Which all of them I have paid off (Bank Accounts).  These Pay DAY LOANs are scam.  Most states it is illegal to lend money.  I did not know that I lived in one of the states.  So if you have taking out a pay day loan in the past you will most likely continue to receive these crazy calls from these crazy people.  This is the first time in a while that the person spoke good english though.
The number they called me from is 970-300-1793 and they stated for call that number back or maybe 1973 I don't remember, but the lady told me that they are filing charges against me and told me GOOD LUCK.  Debt collectors do not threaten you with jail time or anything of the sort.  They just want there money.  These people need to get a job.

Got a call from this number and they left a message saying that there was an investigation and my name came up and that I needed to call back so they could help me take care of this situation. The woman that called and left a message said her name was Susan Brown.  I was going to call back but decided to check the number out and I found all these messages from others that had gotten the same thing.  Scam I guess

A Marie Johnson called stating that they are doing an investigation! Smells like FRAUD so file your affadavidt!

"Hello this is a message from Brandon Heywood from FCS. We have a case about fraud and your name came up. Please call us back at 970 300 1793. thank you and have a good day."

This call came up on my caller id as from Aspen Colorado.
The funny thing about this is the number that actually called me was 970 300 1973(not the callback of 1793). When I try to call that number it says phone is out of service. Watchout people, uncle sam won't protect you... it's a cold world...

I got the same call Jack. I'm wondering if I should call him back. I haven't had a loan ever with anyone, so they are full of it.

this same number called me today and told me i had a loan from 2010 that someone must have stolen my identity. said they did  a loan over the internet. told me that they would settle for 500.00 if i sent it today only. if not they would issue a warrant for my arrest. these people had my name, address, email and claimed they had my ss# but would never read the ss# to me. i looked up the number and found this info. when we called the number back i told them i had called the sheriff dept and reported them and to not call me again and he hung up. person we talked to was a "chris johnson"

Our local police and sheriff's department have issue scam warnings related to this #. Apparently they have been blanketing our area with calls. I've seen two different news reports today from different news agencies all saying almost the exact same thing. It's a scam. Their is no legitimate business at this # or address according to local investigators.

I just received a call today from a Brandon Haywood. He said he was calling from FCS and it was a case of fraud and my name had come up and to give him a call.  When I called the number to investigate, an outgoing message said that I had reached the offices of Jessica Meyers and to leave a message.  I then did some internet research and found out that others had been contacted from this number and to treat it as a scam.

They left voicemail, says his name is Brandon and my name came up on a list of fraud. Definetly a scam.
They didn't address my name in the voicemail, so that was fishy right there. If I supposedly did anything illegal, authorities would contact me directly or if I was victim of fraud some random company with initials for their company name wouldn't be contacting me. Just some freskshows that need to get a real job. Won't be answering to this number again.

Yes call the authorities they can send out warnings about fraud company's even track them down and shut them down if they can find enough info. Its a horrible thing to scam innocent people out of their hard earned money. I was a victim of a scam a couple years back and I fell for someone telling me i was going to jail if i didnt pay them some amount of money and i paid them then realized that it was a scam told the authorities never got my money back but 8people went to jail that was good enough for me!

I got a call from Brandon Hayward telling me I had a pay day loan from 2011 at check n go and he had my info. I did not and I searched their information and once I did that they hung up on me. They said their name was Recoevery State Solutions, SCS, legal Processing, RCR. They said the address was 950 17th St Denver Co 80202.

Received a call from Tina this morning.  I had a feeling it's fake. Not sure how I even got on their calling list. Do I need to contact any authorities?  

Message from a Susan Graum (sounds like) saying they were investigating a case of fraud and our name came up.  Please call her.  Since we have only had our phone number for 3 days I figured it was some sort of scam.  Planning on registering our new number with the DNC list asap!

I first received a call from Brandon I asked him several questions he didn't want to answer. He just said I was being investigated in a fraud claim and I know that is not true. Now today 2/27/14 I get a call from Susan Brown on a recorded call and if I wanted to speak to a live person press 1. I called the company they mentioned and gave them the information that was being used unauthorized by this fraudulent company.

I received a call from this number this morning.  The message was from someone brown and they mentioned my name being involved in a fraud. Funny thing is it was I'm in the process of getting it taken care of, however I reported it to the irs a year ago and no phone call has been made to me. Even though she didn't mention my name I still thought maybe it was someone I needed to talk to so I called back to see who they were and why they were calling me.  A woman answered fcs (I think) never gave her name when I asked her she asked for mine instead I gave her first name only and a fake one she then repeated it back and said let me put you on hold before I could say anything it happened couple minutes later it hung up.  I suspect scam.

Got a call from this same number, could not understand what the lady said her name was or the company.  Sounded like STF.
also she stated she had a case in her office and my name was brought up in a fraud case.

I wish we could shut these spam calls down.  

I have received a couple of days from this number. Lisa Morgan of FCS claims that my name as come up due to fraud that I call back. I did not call them back.

I received a message from a Aubrey O'Day telling me to call back about something about fraud. Give me a break !! People need to get a life and stop harassing people.

Called and said my name came up regarding FRAUD.  Hung up on the recording.  Sounds like scam.  Did not call them back
