Same thing. Got a text message telling me my [nonexistent] California Credit Union account had been frozen. At the same time, I got a message telling me the same thing, only directing me to call 520-334-1027.
Amy 2009-12-23 13:50:14 Unknown
The outgoing call problem lasted about 15 minutes - I guess it was unrelated. :)

osk 2009-12-23 03:25:27 Unknown
I have received the same message and I am with sprint as well. I deleted the message and suggest you ignore it.

It is a variation of a phishing scam AKA "Smishing" scam. It is an attempt to steal personal information. They request your Card Number, Expiration date, and Pin. They are hoping that they stumble accross california credit union customers dumb enough to provide their account info. Hackers are starting to do this instead of, and as well as email phishing scams...

I just got the same text message. Unlike Amy, I am able to make outgoing calls. Apparently, the 972 area code is from Dallas Texas. I highly doubt a "California" Credit Union office is even down there.

I too have Sprint(coincidence?). A few tip-offs that this is a telemarketing scam would include:
-A coroporation as awe-inspiring and powerful as the california credit union would generally use regular mail - perhaps even email - to inform its customers that their service has been frozen.
-Such a large and important organization generally capitalizes its name (even if it did happen to choose to communicate using text messaging
-If the california credit union existed and, as its customers we pissed it off somehow, it is doubtful that the company would freeze our service; it's more likely it would freeze our accounts
-And finally, I do not have an account at anything calling itself the california credit union; the only service they provide me is more of an anti-service, in the form of annoying text messages
Amy 2009-12-23 01:56:07 Unknown
I got the same message just now - and I'm not able to make any outgoing call on my phone now.
Stephanie 2009-12-23 01:15:28 Unknown
The call said "customer issue, california credit union service frozen. please call 972-548-7269".
nio 2009-12-23 01:06:24 Unknown
i think its a scam
abc 2009-12-23 00:50:47 Unknown
I got the same. It is probably scam.. I received the same message also from 206-529-4843
Chevygirl111 2009-12-23 00:49:12 Unknown
I received the same text twp days in a row. I don't even know who California Credit Union is.
Mustangpunx 2009-12-23 00:39:52 Unknown
I recieved a message on my Sprint Phone stating "customer issue, california credit union service frozen. please call at 972-548-7269"
I'm positive this is a scam. I was kind of worried since my job does use California Credit Union. But the grammar was just as I wrote it above, so not very professional.
