My # is on DNC list, and yet I still get telemarketer calls???
This number 973 302 9142 is a recording about carpet cleaning.

I got a call today as well.  I am on the DNC.  Showed up as a missed call as I was not home.

I just got same call. I asked what company is this and they hung up. Based on the accent it was not India. When I try and call back it rings three times then goes busy.

They called me too I hung up as soon as I could tell it was a recording. I am on the Do Not Call Registry as well.

They are probably using a telephony marketing service that *IS* based in India (in case you havent noticed MANY customer support services are in India now...) but that still should not negate them from requirementto comply with do not call registry - the business being marketed is located here in the US!

I know of ONE carpet service I definitely WONT be calling.

I received a recorded telemarketing call from (973)302-9149 on 12/13/2007.

It was from a carpet cleaning service, soliciting their services. I pressed "1" as prompted, to speak to a live person.

I asked her for the name of the carpet cleaning company.

The woman said "ABC Carpet".

I asked her why they were calling a number that was on the Do-Not-Call Registry.

She said that does not apply to them.

I asked why not.

She said "because we are in India".

(Am I supposed to believe that they going to come all the way from India, just to clean my carpets ???)

I asked her for ABC's phone number.

She hung up.

I dialed *69 to get their number... (973)302-9149, which is located in the Newark / Belleville, New Jersey area.
