Got a call at 8:16pm on 5/20/2014. Didn't answer and no message. I wonder where they get our phone numbers from. I don't think it could be random. I would be interested in knowing who everyone here has for internet carrier. I'm on Verizon DSL.
| But yet aparently you do too 2014-05-21 01:13:16 Unknown |
Well Peg, apparently so do you!

Got a call around 7:00 PM from someone running the "eventvwr" scam. I've been long aware about these kinds of things that make attempts to rip off hard-working people and steal their identities, I was prepared. They barely got out the shtick about "my windows operating system" before I interjected and said "Wow...that's quite interesting since no one in our household owns a computer. Nice attempt to steal my personal information, though." Scared them enough to hang up on me. Seriously, people, get a real, HONEST job and quit trying to con people out of their hard-earned money!
(Actually there is only one PC in our household, so who's the dummy now? HA! I also filed a complaint with the FCC. May not do much good, but at least they'll be aware this old scam is still going on).

I got the same call, telling me that I had some bad stuff downloaded onto my computer. I listened to his little scam, when he was done I said "Can I tell you something now? My husband is a Computer Technician, I was a Computer Help Desk Analyst."
As soon as I got that out of my mouth he said "F*** you!" and hung up.

Called my house number and wouldn't even get to his message and had the gall to ask who I was since I wasn't the actual house owner. When I replied that I was a member of the household, he kept asking me who I was. Sounded like a man who was between his 20's and 30's. Heavy Indian or Asian accent.

Called my DNC registered landline twice on
05/19/2014 @ 04:35 PM. No message was left. Caller ID shows Name Unavailable, but my Optimum records show the calls were placed from Iran.
Several months ago these calls were coming from Connecticut.

Supposedly my computer was leaving personal information on servers. IP address?, MAC address? how did they know it was mine? they had my physical address. Claimed to be calling from Louisiana but sounded more like calling from India.

Got a call twice from this number. First time they told me I had a virus on my computer, or at least that is what I think he said in very broken English. I then said thank god you called because my husband has quit his job and all he does all day is search porn sites and I knew this was going to happen. I was making dinner and had a fun time just asking if he could see the porn on my computer and he got excited and just read the script. I then asked all sorts of crazy questions and he just read the script. My husband thought I was insane. I then told the caller he had to tell my husband he can't surf porn sites anymore and to please make sure my husband understands. My husband played along and the guy kept reading his script and asked him to do some things on the computer. All my husband kept saying is he quit his job to surf porn sites all day long and now I was angry at him. This went on for about five minutes and then it was time for dinner and we just hung up. Called again tonight and I just told I got rid of the computer and we don't have one. It is kind of fun to make up stories and mess with them if you have the time. I figure eventually they will stop calling.

A person calling himself Harry called and asked for me. I asked him to leave a message and he said that he was calling from tech support regarding my computer. I asked him to take my number of the list and he came belligerent.

Got a scam call this past Saturday to my home in Dallas from this number. The caller, a male in a red dot lottery ticket selling voice asked if so and so was there. Of course i had answered the phone from the onset, "This is the Testicle Research Center, Are you calling for an appointment to have your testicles looked at?". He kept inquiring about so and so and i kept to my guns about who i was and if he needed his nuts checked. Of course they hung up.

Got a call from them today around 5:00 on Saturday. We didn't get very far into the call because it clear from the first sentence that it was a scam. Told him I was in my 70's and didn't have a PC. He then told me I must be very poor and hung up on me. I tried to call the number back, but of course, it's not a real number.

Called claiming to be tech support from PC Speedy, and THE tech support for all operating systems. I asked him to spell the name of the company and he wouldn't. Said he was in Nevada but had an Indian accent and it was difficult to understand him. Could clearly tell it was a scam when he was trying to get me to get onto my computer, saying that I had viruses or something. I told him my computer wasn't available but he continued to push. I wouldn't tell him what operating system I was running, and he eventually said, "Go f--- yourself, mother f----er." Reported him to my phone service as well as the FTC through the DNC website, which my phone number is on.

area code is for the Slidell, Louisiana area.
same deal, indian - central asian - said he was from ... ( i couldn't understand) and the call is about my computer. i asked for him to repeat the name of his company, he repeated again and i asked "tech health line?" and he said "THE HELP LINE!" i said "which help line? i didn't call a help line." dead silence after that. i wanted to have more fun but he was gone. i didn't even get a chance to tell him i have a mac (which is true) .
i was called another time from another #, sounded indian. the opening was a little differnt, said "i am calling about your XP" i knew it was the day that support on XP ended. that time i did say i have a mac... dead silence.
no cussing or threats like others have had.

A man with an Indian accent called and told me that he wanted to talk to me about my computer. I asked him (in a sceptical tone), "What about my computer?" He then hung up.

I to received a call. They first asked for my wife, since we married a few years ago, she was asking her maiden name. I said nobody by that name lives here, then a guy got on & asked if i owned a computer. He asked to turn it on,i said it was at other end of house & on second floor. I put phone down for at least 5 min. He then walked me thru several steps. Basically he was wanting me to put in a command. Asking me if i saw such & such program or command listed, i said yes, before he could tell me to do next i continued to ask what thus was for. He said there is a program out that people are getting & he wanted to make sure i didn't have it. I then told him my Norton anti virus program would catch it & told him he's a scammer & hung up. He called me back saying somehow we got disconnected. Told him i had already turned off the computer. Which i never turned on in the first place.. Told him i needed to turn on again. This time left him hang for 10 min, all the while i was banging pots & pans near the phone. He started all over again.. He finally asked if i was getting Smart with him, i told him yes. Before he was able to say anything,i hung up...
Beware, these people want something, but tap dance around what it is, or who they are..
