These f****rs sent me so many bs letter and have non stop called saying i owe paypal over $1000 ?!
then they send me a black and white letter from 'forbes dowling lawyers' stating that they are threatning legal action?? go ahead, take me to court, see how far you get c****.

I've recently had the same thing. Countless calls from these a-holes asking for my partner. Considering he's never given this number out as he has his own, I call bulls**t. To add to that, they told him it was for a 3 year old bill with a company he's never been with and my current number has only been active for just over a year, but they say it's the only one on the file (when I know for a fact that they have called his before)... They need to back off and stop calling me. I yelled at the last one. Scamming pricks.


Also, any idea who Panthera finance is? They're calling me about my ex.

I just got an SMS from ARL today.  I thought it seemed a bit strange, so I googled "Australian Receivable Limited", and guess what, this thread was number 5 on the first page.  I have since read through all five pages, and have come to one conclusion.  This is dodgy.  To all of you who have posted, telling people to pay their debts, or stating that this is a legal company, or that you have been helped by them:  It is obvious you are the same person making all those posts, and are working for them.  We are not fooled.  The fact that you feel the need to do this only serves to enforce the opinion that this is a scam.

Just got a phone call from this mob about a three year old electricity bill. I told them to stick it up their a**.

Same as all the rest got the privacy bit also. Asked them who they were, then asked them were they a debt collection mob, due to privacy unable to say. They then asked for daughters phone number told them due to privacy I could not give it. Told daughter the return number YES THE NUMBER in question she goggled this number  hence this post WATCH OUT.

If you get a call from this mobile number:0418322538, it's from a dodgy b*****d called David Martin, a debt collector for ARL who works in Tasmania. Report his dodgy activity, including threatening house calls, to Police.

i had a text from this mob tjust today however there contactact number appears to be differnt although they claim to be fom ARL i will not be calling them back the leeches

I have a completely incorrect parking infringement from an independent company that I assume is the reason for my ARL call, what are the consequences of not calling/paying? I first dealt with the company but they have now stopped pestering me, presumably have cut their losses and taken cents in the dollar from these muppets.

Seems like they have no real claim.

I've had 3 messages in the last few days from ARL. The message said they had tried to call and I didn't answer, etc. I never missed a call, so that's not true. But anyway. I called from my work number to confuse things a bit and gave a false name to see what happened when they went through their 'scam'. It turns out that the company was actually chasing up a debt from a company I used to be an employee of. My mobile number was down as a contact number (or more likely they'd somehow acquired it whilst trying to obtain details for this previous company). They knew my name, even though I gave a false name, and when they mentioned the previous company name I realised that it was most likely not a scam. I helped the chap out and basically explained the previous company I worked for only existed as a board of directors now, without an accounts payable area, and that he should keep researching. That was basically the end of the call.

I'm VERY cautious when it comes to things like this, and I cannot promise that ARL are not a scam organisation, but based off the call that I had they were a legit debt collector chasing up funds for a client of theirs from a company I used to work for.

I wouldn't provide details to ARL when they ask, but I'm sure they'll provide them to you if requested.

Well, you're obviously proving the quality of employees they hire by show casing your epic spelling skills. I think you got it wrong mate, obviously they hire the mentally deranged who have no idea about australian law. If I can assume you cannot spell, I'll assume you cannot read, therefore how would you bloody know what is legislation, what is law and what the hell is a toilet. so they sell my details to dodgy debt collectors who then harass me using dodgy illegal methods
which avoid consumer law by operating call centres usually outside of australia.
Baycorp is one of the credit providers which provide details to financial instutions and also do debt recovery from a call centre in new zealand.under another name.
Rules to avoid these dodgy co's
ask them to put the details in writing (they never do)
do not give any information over the phone , no matter what they ask, not even your D>O>B> or address
do not make any offer to them , its tantamount to admitting guilt and they will then pursue you for ever!!!
Lets face it , if they are fair dinkum, they can just take you to court cheaply and look for court orders.

This ignorant lot has been unlawfully harassing me for a nonexistent Ebay debt that is not even in my name. Go figure. SCAMERS! Like many others, my complaint is now in the hands of lawyers.

I received an email last night from ARL saying there was an important matter under my name, reference and contact number, as everyone has also stated above, the next day I received mail to my house saying I owed Pay Pal $200 plus. I do owe both eBay ($120) and Pay Pal for fees and haven't paid any attention to the accounts in months due to someone somehow stealing $700 out of my bank acc via Pay Pal which I retrieved. Pay Pal did confirm they use ARL as a debt collections company. Anyway I called ARL and gave them the reference number, they asked for my name and address which I happily gave them as its in the white pages anyway! Told them the story, they put a note on the account and that's it. Now I wait for Pay Pal to contact me back, aswell as eBay for the payment arrangements! Anyone with this problem, I suggest you PAY THE DEBT, you DO NOT want bad credit, next time you go to get a simple contract for a mobile or even a loan for a house, you won't be able to because you didn't pay the measly amount owed.. not worth it, especially when the amount keeps rising the more you put it off. The letter did come with a payment slip with bpay etc, though I would never pay that way, I would pay direct to Pay Pal/eBay as I will be now! :)

ARL rang me about my negative PayPal balance - I am so mad with myself for being gullible and giving them my debit card details. After reading the information o this page I emailed PayPal and they said it is a scam they do not use ARL in Australia. I have cancelled my debit card and I am filling out a Dispute Form hopefully to get the $150 back that I gave them. But how do they know what my PayPal balance is?

There does seem to be a pattern emerging from the individuals they are contacting as they seem to have enough information collected on people they are attempting to scam/extort.

Why have these people NOT been stopped???  For people who are unaware of these Cockroaches, they can be very frightening - especially to the elderly and disabled!!!  They don't even use a proper Letterhead when sending mail through the post!  It's photocopied!

I have had about 4 or 5 letters, numerous phone calls.  Who do I contact?  The Police?  Scam Inc?  Who?  Down the bottom of the letter, they have your "User Name" and "Password".  Have you ever used these???  I doubt it - they make them up from your name!

Let's take a STAND and STOP them!!!  Today Tonight might be the way to go???

Yes it is Debt Collectors more specifaically the one's hired through PayPal so if something go's wrong via E-Bay etc this lovely bunch of moroons is who you can expect to have deal with...

Got 2 letters from these AH's all BS.
Both claiming I owe Ebay $113.43 and the second $94.61.

I rang Ebay who confirmed I owe nothing as Ebay doesn't hold accounts.

They can't even spell my name correctly ro the address.

I rang the number and told them to cease and desist as I don't owe anybody anything
They asked for details which I refused to give.

I got up them and told them to P.O

Don't give these b*****ds anything.

I went to the ASIC site and lodged a  complaint about this fraudulent activity.

They cannot disclose information to you as you are not the account holder. Your mother obviously would be. Cannot disclose information to anyone else but her. ARL work on behalf of clients like gas, electricity, finance, medical etc. Contact ARL again and they can advise you of what to do.

You can call them to confirm.

Got 2 letters sent to my address with my surname, but 2 strange first names.
I rang them back and said that the name was wrong, they said, "just throw them both out, don't worry about it". Weird.
Trying to collect money for Paypal even though I haven't bought anything.

I need your help guys. I got a call from ARL couple of weeks ago and today they called again. I took the call for my mother as she was at work. They asked who it was, to call them back and also gave me a reference number. When I had called them on behalf of my mother they could not tell me any details nor did I get a letter. They told me it is a 'long story' and is a 'sensitive' matter that they could not tell me. What could it be about then? I was reading these comments and apparently this company is in junction with Paypal and Ebay and deals with credit card debt. Thing is, my mum has no Ebay account and she has disclosed her credit card for years now.
Can someone tell me is it possible that they could be collecting something else? If it were a gas, electricity bill etc. I would get an overdue bill from those companies, not from ARL.
I am not sure what to think. What do you think the call would be from guys?
