these little indian t**ts keep calling mum and saying she owes them loads of money which has effected her credit cards somehow these little indian %$@&ers from "repcol" will not stop ringing us we keep objecting to provide them any details, they seem to be only obtaining our names and birth dates and when we attempted to go through their customer service we were directed to one "james smith" when he answerd he said "ello dis is sandy james how may i help you?" in his little indian accent. they said they were based in W.A when they were infact based in where else? india of course. it was about 5 montyhs ago since they last rang but they just started again and its driving us nuts... we are seeking legal advice and any other information on them.

I have just recieved a similar phone call but it was for my partner.  when i asked what it was in relation to he said it was personel busniess matter. I told him that if he didnt give me a reason why he should call him back my partner would not call him and he said he couldnt give me any information even though he simpathized with me. I said we have been together 10 years and i do all his personel business and he just would give me any indication of what he was caling about so i said that if he cant give me any information about why my partner needs to call him back then i cant give my partner any information either.  I hung up. Now my head is going round and round trying to work out what the call was about

There is nothing to panic about. Debt collection agencies will often attempt to contact people from public directories and databases in hopes of fluking contact with a related party to the debtor who is prepared to divulge useful contact information. These agencies will utilise more than simply the white pages, but also records relating to credit and loan applications such as the Veda database which also records when a person enters a plan for any type of service eg mobile telephone, internet etc. (note: not all such providers divulge this information). Your personal details will generally be accessible if you have ever applied for a credit card or loan. Having said that you are under no obligation to provide anyone with any details over the phone, even if you are the person they are looking for, and ought simply hang up (or, if you have the time, take them for a ride as it can be quite amusing).

While i cant confirm the phone number, i shared a similar experiance.
They know your sir name but not your first name!
So they start off asking if you are "insert two first names" followed by your sirname. Then they ask if you are related.
Given 6 degrease of seperation they are likely to guess one of the names in your family.
They are very pushy and will threaten you by saying "you dont know who i am", since they didnt know who i was either, the gates of abuse opened.
They are also calling from a realy poor Voice Over IP phone system.
I have had heaps of calls that have gone to voice mail but they havent left messages. I believe that this was them too but no proof.

Give them HELL people, I did!

Last week I recieved a call from "Andrew" from Trans Pacific.  He started with my name and 'how are you' as if he knew me.  He had a very thick Indian accent and said he had some very important information for me if I would please give him my date of birth.  I said 'why would I give you my date of birth? I don't know you. Where are you from?' He said again he was from Trans Pacific and when I asked what kind of business is that, he said they deal with financial matters.  I said no I would not give him my date of birth and he wanted to know why - I replied identity theft is very common.  He laughed and said that is rediculous and why would he want to steal my identity.  I asked what is their website and he started to say www.transpacific.com but kept being pushy and trying to get my DOB. He then asked if I could please confirm that I was born in the year ... and I hung up on him.  He just rang me again today and I hung up immediately.  I just tried looking up the website and it automatically diverts to 'www.yeah.com' which is a wierd site.  I do not know what number he was calling from but he is really annoying!

Someone called (in Indian accent) and was looking for a 'sammy + my surname' . I told him there is no sammy in here and asked if I were mr. T. v., I told him yes and asked if I live in the same address. I asked him how the hell he got my number , he told me it was in the directory, being suspicious, I told him I was never in the directory because I had my new home number a month before. He told me he was from repcall, and a debt collecting company from Western Australia. He was trying to confide me by asking the weather at Queensland. Huh, I need to check this out because it does worry me much...

I had a call from 1300555589, from a woman with an Indian accent (I think)saying she had to speak with (his name) regarding an urgent matter.  I said this wasn't his number (it's never been his number but we were involved 5 years ago) and she said she needed to speak with him on a matter of extreme importance.  I said he was overseas (which he was, last I heard) and told her to ring his mobile.  She said she didn't have any numbers but this one.  (I am assuming he gave them this number so they couldn't trace him, or maybe so his bad debt would go onto me?). I have had about four of these phone calls in the past few years, indicating that he may be running away from debt? Not my problem! I looked them up thanks to this website and found that they are a collection agency in Western Australia (which is where he was from before I met him) Do NOT give these people personal information about yourself when they ring, as they may use any connection with you to retrieve money.

Hey guys, I made a discovery!
Some of you said its from 'repcall' but when I spoke to the guy he clearly spelt it with 'col' on the end. I searched 'Repcol' and look what I found:
www.repcol.com.au

It's a debt collection agency in Western Australia (the guy on the phone also mentioned WA to me).

Be suspicious though, I have no debts yet the called me.

Recieved a message from Alan(ext3089)on my phone to call back regarding a matter of urgency.
I called the number and asked for ext3089. He asked if I was a person he was looking for - when I told him the name he had didn't match with mine he asked for my DOB. When that didn't match I questioned Alan as to why he had my details and why.
He laughed at me when I enquired about whom was going to reimburse me for the calls to the number left on my answer phone.
Totally unprofessional behaviour, when I requested to speak to his manager/supervisor he hung up the phone.
