All debt collecting agencies can be put out of business quick smart. You never signed any contract with them therefore you owe them nothing. It's pretty damn simple.

I just got a sms from the above number asking me to call them back to discuss an urgent matter and to quote a certain number.  the sms is signed off by D & B. I have no idea what this is about!  They do not state their business or anything this is harassment, and unprofessional. I just now had a phone call from a private number, which i never answer and a computer message left on my answering service saying call us urgently to discuss an urgent matter, still not stating what this urgent matter is about. I will not be calling who ever is spam messaging me with a so called urgent matter. This is dodgy to say the least whoever  You are, why are you threatening me with an urgent matter but do not say what. Tell me who you are and why you are calling.
What is my next step ? contact consumer affairs or the police?

They are a 3rd party collections agent with zero legal bindings which means YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEAK TO THEM EVER NOT EVEN ONCE. And I recommend you never do.

The telegrams are just scare tactics and a last resort to have you contact them. THEY KNOW THIS WORKS WELL WITH THE OLDER GENERATION OF THE PUBLIC. DON'T BE FOOLED

The company would go broke if it wasn't for the cleverly written handbooks the hundreds of phone debt collectors they have making 100+ calls a day on fast food wages.

Easy way to have them stop calling is to email the accounts manager stating you wish to no longer be contacted by any 3rd party organization *keep a copy of this and also notify the corporation who referred your details to them*. Doing this legally binds DNB as a 3rd party with no legal power to never make contact with you again. If they do you report them to the ACCC for harassment straight away and inform the account manager you have taken such action and supply a reference number in the email.

NEVER PAY AN OVERDUE BILL THROUGH DUN AND BRADSTREET.
REPORT THEM TO THE ACCC FOR EVERY BREACH THEY DO
LEGALLY THEY CANNOT SPEAK TO YOU IF YOU DON'T VERIFY A NAME, ADDRESS AND DATE OF BIRTH SO NEVER GIVE IT TO THEM.

I worked for them for a while and they are literally a bunch of nobodies so never take them seriously or give them or personal info over the phone. If the Australian public knew what legal rights they really had this company would go broke within a year. THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE

WOW! Okay, so I have a dept with them for $59. I never knew I had this debt with them as I thought my items had been paid for in full (Global Direct).
I was asked to make this payment today, which I just could not do. I gave them a date that I can pay it by and they told me it was not good enough. Then, they realised this is the first ever time they have called me in relation to this and were then willing to hold off until the date I told them as long as I provide them with a credit card so they can take the amount out on that date. Crazy forceful, especially considering I am more than willing to pay the debt. Like I told the lady on the phone, I could have just hung the phone up and avoided them until the date that I can pay but I am doing the right thing and telling them when I can.

I recently got a Txt from 0416907428 "Please call 1300888035 immediately to discuss an urgent matter. Quote ####### when you call. Thank you, Dun and Bradstreet."  I thought it might be something legit otherwise I wouldn't have called back.  I was distressed when the Indian 'gentleman' insisted on personal details. I wasn't comfortable giving out that info but he ran off the privacy routine.  I wish I'd defended my own right to privacy not to give details to some company I'd never heard of.  He  insisted (in a rude and aggressive manner) that I'd been through this procedure before, which I have not!  He wouldn't tell me anything until I gave him my name, thankfully I didn't give any more info as there are some scams out there, but at least I got it sorted and it wasn't me they were after. I do think they need to review their approach, but at the same time to all you people who rack up debts you can't afford, take it from someone who lives under the poverty line and owes nobody nothing ('cause I live within my meager means). Pay your bloody bills and stop giving out dodgy details so innocent people like me don't get hassled or scammed!!!

Seems inappropriate to send a Telegram "call NOW!! .....to find out what this concerns".

We also recieved this SMS today claiming to be from D&B and very urgent matter ring 1300888035 quote xxxxxxx we rang pronto and the operator would not tell us if they were debt collectors and wanted to know my partners name (they SMS his mobile, wouldnt they know his NAME?) they made it sound suss like a scam so we just hang up. Not the right way to approach people for any reason, we also owe Foxtel we rang to make payment arrangements and after providing them with all the details we were put on hold then the line dropped out (or Hung up) nobody has bothered to ring us back. How Rude!!!

I just received a similar thing from a subscription of $39 that I had totally forgot about, hmmm yep thats such an urgent matter!!

My debt, which was unknown to me, was $84. Rather than call me and if I'm unavailable leave a voice message, I received a telegram with "urgent and sensitive" printed on it. A telegram? Like they send to parents to infrom them that their son died at war. Get a grip!!

I'm not talking about people that move address and don't get their bill.. that can happen to anyone. I'm talking about people that know they owe the money and refuse to pay it. if you see comments such as "I'm not paying my stupid debt" and "legal robbery." It annoys me that people can show such anger towards a company that is only trying to get them to pay money that they genuinly owe. People that don't pay their bills just because they don't want to ARE low lives. It is just as bad as walking into a store and purpously walking out with unpayed items. I went to a perfectly good school thank you but I was raised in france so English is a second language. Pay your debts people and don't sign contracts without reading them..

Before calling everybody else a deadbeat you may want to learn how to spell basic words like thieves, whether, struggling and successful. Mummy and Daddy couldn't afford a decent school for you obviously!

You're obviously a rep at D&B. Agree partially, however there are genuine circumstances where people are unaware of a relatively small amount owing. People do change address, phone and can forget a small bill when they have thousands of dollars worth of other bills. Don't class us all as low lives. D&B never phoned me, I have voicemail, yet they send a telegram with 'urgent' printed all over it...and all for $84. Sorry pal. We're on different wavelenths if you think that amount is urgent and sensitive. Perhaps you need to get a job if you think $84 is that important.

It's Dunn and Bradstreet. I received a telegram (telegram? really!), with "urgent and senstive" in red bold all over it. My partner panicked thinking it was something serious and we got into a massive argument. It ended up being over an $84 foxtel bill from a previous address!! Yes, $84. Do you believe it!! Is that urgent and sensitive is it??? I wonder how they would describe my $12k a month mortgage then??? !

Wow you are all low life losers and theives, if your too much of a dead beat to get a job and pay bills then don't use a service that you can't afford.. pfffft and good luck suing dun and bradstreet.. they are a billion dollar company with legal teams with hundreds of lawyers in them! Also, Dun and Bradstreet do not buy your debts, they simply collect them on behalf of clients, hence they do not care weather or not you pay because if you don't they just close the file and move on to the next one and you get credit listed for the next seven years. If someone is really struggeling with money then dun and bradstreet can offer appropriate payment plans to suit your budget, if you need an extremely low payment plan then all you need to do is explain your financial situation in writing and they can approve things as low as $5 a week. No point bagging out a Successfull company just because your too much of a dead beat to keep up with your bills. F****ng theves get a job

I thohght it was a matter of life or death that i needed to be contacted for...

I am now suffering a panic attack - right now - 5 minutes after getting the "urgent sensitive matter, pleases call" text message.

I am not able to take panic attacks and will be suing them for making me go through emotional throws and haveing had an epileptic fit due to their scarey message.

Im serious, they had better get their own lawyers on this one, they tried to terrify me and they did.
