When I answer, I usually tell them that my name is Micael Hunt. Suddenly they hang up. I wonder why?????

Received a call from this number. At first, thbere was a delay before the caller spoke telling me he was from Windows and they had gotten into my computer or something like that.

got a call from this number. He wanted me to type something in to my computer. Caller could not tell me which version of windows I have and could not tell me my web ID. Caller also would not tell me what he wanted me to type in (I offered to write it down and poss do it later--yuhhhh)Told him I could not go online now-had to do laundry. He said with puzzlement "laundry"--guess they didn't school him in a reply for that. I also told him never to call me again. If I have computer issues I would return to the store of purchase.

Same baloney about error messages...told the guy with strong Indian accent I know is a scam and stop calling...reply was I will call you every day!  Do they ever give up?

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Windows Tech support phone scam out of india

Must be a fake line over the Internet. It's not a valid number. The CID is "unknown".

Received same call from same number. Caller told me he was from Windows and I have a virus on my computer. I said I was not near my laptop. He told me my computer was on, I told him I was not home. He said he'd call back Monday.

caller from this number 147 852 3690 is passing himself off as technician from WINDOWS claiming my computer is sending error messages and I need to go online immediately...This is obviously a ploy to get me to do something and he hung up on me as soon as I told him that I do not have WINDOWS on my computer.

As usual a phone call with no one answering on the other end.  And I am on the do not call registry.  Anyone ever heard of a number like this calling starting with 147?
