I was called by a woman with an accent saying I was chosen to receive $10000 for grant money. I would be able to have it transferred to a credit card or a bank account. I told them hell no would I give them either of my personal account numbers, she then said I could get it through a check. I said ok check , she then gave me a code to give to the person I am to call right back. I called back and they said he would call back at 10am after he pulls my information up. It's a BIG SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received call from 1-156-454-6412 several times and they would hang up after a couple rings.  My phone registered 564-546-412 the last time I got a call and spoke to a man who said I was randomly selected to received $10,000 grant money to be used for personal use for education, pay bills or the like.  He said I needed to call 202-559-4648 which was the US Grants Dept with an ID# to claim my grant money.  I could receive it by wire transfer into my checking or savings account, debit card, or certified check.  He asked for the account number when I said I would like it wired and I told him I would give to the Grants Department.  He said it was good for 2 months and I may have to pay IRS fees ... the US Grants Dept would let me know.  I decided to look up the called from number and the "US Grants Dept" number and saw these postings of it being a SCAM.

She also mentioned that she is calling from US Govt. Grant Department, Washington DC. She also said that money is coming from IRS. Seems like scam.

I received a phone call from Eravise (self introduced), phone number 156 454 6412, Indian accent, about 25 years old. He said that he calling from Pell Grant - Education Department. He told me that I have been approved for $10,000 pell grant and asked me for Visa/Master card number to transfer money. I didn't give him my card number, so he gave me another phone number 202 684 6847 and also ID case number 5566 to ask me to call back to talk with Alex John who was Account Manager to work out how to transfer the money.
I called back the given number 202 684 6847 asking to speak with Mr. Alex John. The man answered me was still Eravise then he said that he will call back after pulling out my case from the computer. Then he quitted away! SCAM !!!!!

Just got a call from them this morning. same as everyone above. There really is no way to stop them from calling you. i've even put the MN Attorney Generals office on some of these people and they just find another way to bother you.
i'm not trying to advertise, but i use this app called Mr. Number. so whenever one of these calls come up i can block them and either choose "pick up and hang up" or "directly to voicemail". The app even has any user comments on the number calling you from other Mr. Number users.
it's been a handy app for me, though i can't seem to post my own comments through my phone.
good luck to all.

Guy called my house phone and said that he was from the Federal Grant department and because we paid our taxes on time that my name was drawn to receive a 10000 grant. He asked for my bank account number or my credit card number. My son called me at work with his cell while the guy was still on our home phone. He told the guy to call me at my work number and the guy said he would call back in 5 minutes cuz he needed to get permission to call a different number. He called back saying that when he tried to call my work number that it wouldn't go through and that he would call back tomorrow. I had my son give me the number off the caller id and looked it up. SCAM!!!!

I have been getting calls about this too. First it was a man, this time it was a woman who asked me if I was crazy because I told her to stop calling me. She told me she wouldn't stop calling until I took the money. Then she asked me if I was rich and thats why I didn't need the money. I told her yes and she proceeded to ask me for money.
How do you make this stop?
I tried reporting it but the do not call registry said it is not a recognized number.

Received unsolicited call from this number from a person calling themselves "Penny" in regard to providing a grant of $10,000.00 to a college student who has limited financial means to go to college.  Penny was a female voice with an Asian accent, probably 20 - 30 in age; and sounded like she was in a boiler-room operation.  Penny claimed that she was representing the Federal Grant Department in Washington, DC; and requested I provide her personal financial information: bank account or a credit card, so she could furnish the $10,000 grant for college.  When I refused, and attempted to obtain more information from Penny as to what this was all about, she hung up.  Call back to 156-454-6412 determined this telephone number to not be in service.  This appears to be a definite scam to obtain personal financial information from persons who may be desperate for college funds - BEWARE!!!!
