Idiots. They say they're calling from , with a routine service check up. HA!
These people kept me on the phone for 10 minutes trying to get me to sit down at my computer and go through "some simple steps" to determine whether I had damaged files on my internet. I asked why they thought I had a computer at all, since they didn't even have a name for me. They got my number from "Windows based operating system users" list, and have an address for me. The guy was very upset when I told him that he was a scamming b*****d and I'm not idiot enough to either give him my information or let him have control of my computer, and even more upset when I told him they got ripped off if they paid for their phone list, since theirs is clearly wrong.

161-258-1659 was the phone number. Just received a call from them this morning. By mistake I redialed for another number and did not pay attention to the number on display and a woman answered and she referred me to another number and that you must be 18 & over to call and it could cost money when you call in.
Did not pay attention to the name if she did mention one while I redialed. I hung up.
Can't you block these callers on your set?
I wish something or someone can find a solution to trace these PITA's callers.
Hope "Looking for Him" will be able to nail these SOB's.

3 calls in 2 days from this number. Long delay as if this is a computer generated call so I simply hung up. It's a nuisance that disturbs my privacy. Some one provides this party with a phone line out. There must be some way to stop this form of harassment

I also had this number come up on my phone recently, and when my mom answered, a man with a heavy accent asked for me by name. He said he was calling about my computer and would try me on my cell. I never received any calls on my cell, nor was there any messages. Nobody ever phoned back, but I will definately not be giving any personal information.

I got two calls this morning. First was private and he kew my last name and said something about computers. He had a heavy accent. I said I wasn't interested and hung up.
Half an hour later a call with the name 01612581659 and phone number underneath that said
780-702-7489.
I answered and had another heavy accented man on the phone asking me if I had problems with opening windows on the computer. I said no. He insisted to tell me that many people have complained about this and that he is offering his technical help to detect my computer if it has that problem. YEAH RIGHT!!!!
I told him I was with a reputable provider and had excellent protection on the computer. I'd heard enough and hung up.
So if this a known scam, why isn't anything done about it?

"Ryan" from "Tech Services". This is definitely a telemarketing scam. They're trying to take control of your computer, so just hang up and do NOT do anything they say.

Aaron from Compute3r Essentials re my operating system on my computer.

dont answer the phone, they are f****n scammers.....

What is the legal recourse here? This is clearly unwanted solicitation, and they present multiple different numbers so you can't really block them effectively.

Received a call from this number saying they were from Microsoft and had noticed that there were a number of damaged files on our computer, and that they wanted to show us how to get rid of them. He gave me clear steps to follow, which led to him having control of my computer via "Ammyy". After he started showing me reams of files with "error" messages, with the names of my family users next to them, I decided to get my laptop and google "Ammyy scam". The software is a legit PC connection tool, but these people are using it to gain control of your computer and install malicious software. Don't answer the call!
