That is totally untrue - I am being charged 3X more than PSE&G would charge for the electricity consumed - I have sent complaints to your company with no response.  I have cancelled your service and encourage other consumers to watch their bills carefully - this is a total scam and as a senior citizen I cannot afford to be ripped off by companies like yours.

I am stuck in this scam with them-- got the same phone call June 2012 by some guy Kellen. Told me I can get it for 8 cents and I asked  what happens if they go higher then Peco and he told me that I would pay Pecos rate. The last 3 months they keep upping the rate right now I am at 33 cents and Peco is at 8 cents. They have horrible customer service!!! They over charged me over $500-- don't use Plymouth Rock Energy!!!

They are are a pack of lying scam artists! They routinely called my home phone number everyday 4,5,6 times a day and i looked at my caller i.d. and it said Plymouth Rock on it,so i ignored it,not knowing who they were. The calls kept coming and i got so sick and tired of being hounded every day i finally answered the phone a bit nasty saying " why are you calling my number 5 times per day?" When this woman with a very thick Indian accent that i could barely understand along with a lot of background noise as well, starts going into her sales pitch.Long story short, she says that i am eligible for a discount on my gas bill and that they are affiliated with my current gas provider N*********** wich they are not and asks me to answer the on-phone questionaire wich i started to do.When it asked me if i agreed to switch my gas service to Plymouth Rock i immediately hung up.Within a minute she called back! I answered the phone very nasty and said i am not interested in switching my service! She just continues to talk and says they are not trying to get me to switch my gas service and immediately a male supervisor starts talking and says "sir,we are not trying to get you to switch your gas service"," we are affiliated with your current provider and are offering you a discount on your gas bills".Long story short,i did the on-phone questionaire and hung up.Yesterday,i got a notice from my current gas provider saying "we have been notified by Plymouth Rock Energy,LLC,that you will be purchasing gas directly from them starting Sept,1 2013!!! I said to myself,"i knew these people were shady!".I immediately called my gas provider and told them about the notice i received and the girl said "yes, thats correct, you will be switching to Plymouth Rock starting Sept.,1 2013".And i said "no i wont".I explained what these con artists at Plymouth Rock did and she didnt sound at all surprised,so i know i am one of many these scammers pulled this crap on.She also told me that Plymouth Rock IS NOT affiliated with their company like they said! I told her to please cancel out this change request and she did.So these scam artists at Plymouth Rock first drove me crazy with numerous phone calls every single day and then blatantly lied to me on several things and got me to unwittingly change my gas service provider. If anyone who reads this and is getting bombarded with phone calls from Plymouth Rock everyday,i suggest you just listen to their opening pitch about this b***s*** discount and then tell them your not interested and hang up.If they continue to call, tell them if they dont stop harassing you,you are going to file a complaint with the BBB.That should shut these lying jerk-offs right up.Dont believe a word they say, they are just trying to con you into unwittingly switching. your gas service provider under the guise that they are affiliated with your company and are just trying to offer you a discount on your gas bills.Lying, stinking scam artists!

THEY ARE WORSE THAN MORONS.  I TELL THEM THAT I LIVE IN A COOP AND DO NOT PAY UTILITIES SEPARATELY, AS THESE CHARGES ARE INCLUDED IN MY MAINTENANCE FEES. IMBECILES KEEP CALLING BACK , OVER AND OVER AGAIN.  WISH THEY WOULD ALL DROP DEAD.

I signed up with Plymouth Rock several months ago because of their claim to save money.  They consistently charge up to 50% more than my gas supplier, National Grid.  I keep calling them and they make an adjustment claiming that it would work out eventually as the prices fluctuate monthly.  However they have not had a month yet that is even close.  I do not trust them and have cancelled them.

Actually ... Not a scam.

I don't work for Plymouth Rock or any energy provider.  I have no particular opinion about them except to say that I, too, have received these calls and agree that they are annoying.

However, what this guy says is KIND OF true.  After getting the calls and then running into Plymouth solicitors at a street fair I did some research.  Here's an article from the Newark Star Ledger -- a legitimate, respected newspaper: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/07/nj_electric_customers_switch_t.html

In short, energy market was deregulated about 12 years ago and alternative to JCPL and Con Ed do exist and they are legitimate companies, etc.  Question is: how much is the saving and for how long?  Large utilities have actually been reducing their prices to compete with these upstarts.  (That's a GOOD thing, like what happened with VoIP phones.)  But, as a consequence, the major utilities are not that much more expensive.  So you have to ask yourself if a change is really worth the savings especially since time will tell if they are around for the long run.

So that's the question but the respondent, bad speller or whatever, is telling the truth.

Hope that helps.

I received a call from 973-678-4646 stating they are from Plymouth Rock Energy and wanted me to save on my electric bill and not my Gas bill like I have been reading in this forum.. My questions to them had no valid answers. Not even their business address. Also the agent was very rude when I told him I was not interested. Also my number is in the Do not call list.

TO: Plymouth Rock Energy in New York

You should check your processes as I received 2 calls in the last 2 workdays and my phone is registered on the DNCL.

A better suggestion would be instructions on how to get off of your calling list.

They're not trying to save you money "For free".  Companies don't hire telemarketers to make calls out of the kindness of their hearts: they do it to make money.  They're trying to get you to sign up for a variable cost energy plan. There's a million companies out there doing the same thing.  Right now, you can save a few bucks by using them...however you need to watch the cost per kwh VERY closely because it can vary greatly.  A good question to start with is "how long am I locked into this rate?" and "is there a fee to switch back?" (usually its a couple months, and no fee).

Much like a variable mortgage, you definitely CAN save money this way, however it doesn't take much for the costs to go up and actually end up with a bill higher than with PSE&G...ESPECIALLY with the economy the way it is at present.

An educated consumer can make these plans work (I've switched between providers a few times to do so, taking advantage of the introductory rate for as long as I can)....know what it is you're buying.

I got the same call but honestly when I asked the person for thier phone number because I never heard of them the woman gladly gave it to me and gave me the website to check them out. Usually when I do this is when I get there is a problem with the phone or they just hang up.   Got me interested because saving money is pretty important right now I decided to check it out.  So after about an hour of research and calling PSE&G I checked it out and it was legitimate.   If the rates stay I will save myself about $30-$40 a month.  So I called back my fried Kathy Smith who took my call and signed up.

Chris, I am not rude to telemarketers.  I've been on the other end of those calls, but my statement that I do not do business over the phone is true in terms of doing business with unsolicited callers.  If a pizza place called me and asked me if I wanted a pizza, I would have the same response.  When I want a pizza, I call them.  If I am interested in a plan to change my utility company, I will call them.

The telemarketer from Plymouth Energy started the call by asking to "speak with the person who pays the PSE&G bill".  When he introduced himself as being from PRE, I immediately hung up.  Why should I stop doing was I am doing to listen to his sales pitch? I have better things to do.

If you send people 3 junk mail and we ignore it, get a clue and stop calling.
People should send a "Cease and Desist" letter then sue on further calls.

1.  You shouldn't call people stupid or morons when you don't know how to capitalize, punctuate, spell, use the proper contractions, use the correct tense or differentiate between "they're", "there" and "their".  I'm not surprised, though, that Plymouth Rock hires uneducated idiots like you with sub par intelligence.

2.  When people are on the Do Not Call registry and Plymouth Rock Energy calls them anyway...REPEATEDLY...it's called HARASSMENT.  When Plymouth Rock representatives are rude and insulting over the phone it's called HARASSMENT.  Get a list of people that are NOT on the Do Not Call list and call THEM.

3.  Yeah, buddy.  People have to make a living.  We all have to make a freakin' living.  It's hard to make a living.  It's hard to hold on to money.  That is exactly why people are wary of telemarketers.  Do you know how many scammers are out there?   Why should people trust any stranger calling them out of the blue to ask for account information?  The fact that Plymouth Rock telemarketers MISREPRESENT themselves as PSEG representatives says it all.

wow you people are stupid.. its funny cause i use to work there and had to put up with that s*** day in and day out. You really don't do business over the phone?? Have you ever ordered pizza over the phone?? You will do more business that way than actually listing to one of these people.. There not out to get you..They are simply helping you lower your bill "FOR FREE", and you're not leaving your utility company. Thats all there doing, and you want to bash them on the internet, or cuss them out on the phone?? What the f*** is wrong with you people? When I worked there I called NJ... I now understand the phrase "Go back to Jersey you moron!" Listen there people just like you trying to make a living. So listen to what they have to say..
