This website is the only defense we have against telemarketer terrorism.  Helps us figure out who is who so we don't answer their calls.  It's the only way to fight them, the gov't DNC list is totally useless.

Got a call 12/5/13, didn't answer, left no message.

If you call them back they have an answering system that gives you the "option #1" to be placed on their DNC.
Once selected, asks to wait 48 hours for request to process.... let's see if that works :-)

I recieved a call from this number with an automated message by "Joan from Dental Care."  I attempted to extract some more information out of the telemarketer since I have a burner phone number I can get rid of so I pushed 1 to be connected to an agent.  I was connected to "Stan" who attempted to sell me Careington 500 plan for $19.50/month.  Eventually, I got a call back number: 813-681-7180.  He hung up when I asked him to remove my number.  Note, it's possible that this is a scam and not truly from Aetna.  They have posted a message to that extent here: http://www.aetna.com/individuals-families/fraud-alert-phishing-scam.html

If you really want to get rid of the telemarketers, get more information out of them!  You can take them to court and sue them for $500 per violation but only if you get their information.  Gather that info and post it here so we can take down them all!

when u have relatives living all over  U.S. it is hard to use the block area codes service from your residence . I am on the  fcc national do not call list but it isn't doing any good.

As usual, they're spoofing numbers as usual, which is why attempts to call them back fail.  Hard to be found when the numbers you claim to be calling from don't exist.  I reached the point with these "medical alert system" scammers last week in which I pressed the number to be connected to someone and lit into them.  They hung up and a few minutes later, I received another call from them (listed as "unknown name unknown number) and knew it was them so I lit back into to them.

Perhaps if we all start pressing the option to be connected and as soon as they pick up, blow one of those air horns into the receiver, these scammers will give up.  If you can't hear, you can't call up folks,,,,

It's so simple.  I have the Digitone Blocker on my business line - the Digitone can block ENTIRE AREA CODES INCLUDING THE 201.  Currently, I have 40 area codes blocked - along with a bunch of individual numbers.

For my home line, I have the new Panasonic phone that blocks 250 numbers.  

Buy a call blocking phone or device - they're inexpensive and they work!

GOT A CALL FROM UNAVAILBLE NUMBER STATING I WAS ON THE LIST FROM GRANTS DEPARTMENT OF 15 NUMBERS TO RECIEVED $7,849.00 AND  GAVEE SOME SPEECH I DONT TO PAY ANY THING BACK AND ITS NOT LOAN AND WILL RECIEVED IT ON DEBIT CARD IN 40-45 MINUTES,THEN TOLD ME TO CONTACT JOHN TAYLOR( SUPPOSED TO ME ) AMERICAN SOUNDING INDIVISUAL BUT SOUNDS MORE FORIEGN,HE GAVE SAME SPEECH AND I GAVE A PREPAID DEBIT CARD WITH NEGATIVE BALANCE,I AM NOT FOOL,THEN HE ASKED ME TO PROVIDE AN IDIOT AMOUNT OF $ 270 INSURANCE FEE QUOTE ONE TIME REFUNDABLE FEE AND SOME INSURANCE PERSON WILL CALL ME BACK,THEN I SEE THE MONEY ON MY CARD IN 40-45 MINUTES,NOTHING WAS GIVEN TO THIS A***OLE  INCLUDING FUNDS

The caller, 201-243-3418 , delivered a recorded message for " senor Alert "
Before they used personal calls with different area codes & numbers. I told them " Do not call before  This time when I returned the call. The number is not in services!
So many people file complaints about this number with www.800notes.com in last 3 months.

Rcvd three calls this afternoon 651-333-4187/720-452-5694/201-243-3418//all occurred the afternoon of 5Sep--seems strange that 3 calls came one after another -all afternoon--------------so annoying

Called no message left. Caller Id says MEMBER SERVICES ...scammer's still scamming

Called & answered by holding down the *key - that doesn't srrm to work either . . . . . . .

Received call 9-5-13, 3:15pm, but no response on the line - blank. Reverse call info showed a Bayone, NJ, unlisted ph #..  Another telemarketer!!!

Robo call

Unsolicited robocall from telemarketer "Member Services" selling medical alert for senior citizens.  Pressed 5 to be taken off list and the recording kept right on telling me what services were available.  The DNC list (which I am on) is nothing but a joke to scum companies like this.

Didn't pick up, went to voice mail, no message was left. Twice before I picked up and hung up when this "senior citizens" b.s. started. I think I'll try that "press 5" to be deleted from their call list next time.

I bought a digitone call blocker and I keep track of the area codes that the nuisance calls come in from, if I get more than 3 or 4 calls from the same area code, I block the whole area code. (Such as this one (201) I don't sell the Digitone but am passing this on as useful info. Blocking individual numbers  is a waste of time since marketers work their systems to use phony random numbers that show up on your caller ID. That is the nice feature about this blocker as it can also block all 800 and unavailable calls too. - Eventually I will have blocked all area codes except those that I know are friends out of my area. - Hope this helps someone.

I finally had a minute, so I answered the call. It's a automatic solicitation for senior citizens to sell them protection against falling in their home. If you press 5, you will be deleted from their call list.

when they call don'speak,just hit the pound sigh several times. this confuses the computer. we are smarter!

These people have another number 908 583-1813 with ID Linden NJ.  They have also used a New York number, but I lost that one.  Seems when they get a little heat with one number, they just mve to another number using the same old robo-dialer.

i let call go to voice mail and they always hang-up.

After getting a bunch of these calls, earlier this week I called back.  I got a recording to press 1 to be added to the do not call list.  I pressed 1, a reply said to allow 24-48 business hours for processing.  I wondered if I did the right thing then the calls stopped yesterday and none today so I guess it worked.  Just thought I'd pass this on as it was an easy fix.

"YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING" (stolen from a comment on this web site -- I love it).  And do not answer name unavailable ever as calls are now starting to say that often.  Another comment from this web site says: When you press the number to have your number removed, all you do is confirm that your number is a working one.  Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all.  Another comment was:  They sold your known active number to another scammer!!!  That is what they do when you call them back to opt out.  SO DON?T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED!

Let me explain my idea of ROBO CALLS. Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers fyi (7 digits). The program starts calling every number that it can in succession.  So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone.  I am going to copy and paste and post this info for each number that calls me for this web site (9,999,98 numbers more to copy and paste to)

NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES (statute of limitations on debt:  http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml)  who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective..  DNC does not work when they are robo dialing all possible random numbers. The authorities can not or will not help either.

So, just block them, DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls.  If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back.  No problem.  It?s a lot of work that I do (checking the number on this web site, blocking the caller,  but at least I FEEL like I have a little control of the situation. Maybe I'm delusional.  Another smart person on this web site said to save it to your contacts as spam 1, then spam 2, etc. so you can just ignore the call.

The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and what they found is that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3%)

Not only that but reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.

So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually know the person calling.

Same here...they called and when I picked up they didn't answer.  Crackpots!
