If you pressed 1 while on the call you were transferred to a company trying to sell you insurance. When I faked interest he started to give me info but when I asked for info from him he hung up. I think it is a scam.

Man called back again, asked a very obscene question...I can't even repeat it. I hung up on him, and called the police. When the officer called the back, the number had been disconnected. I received a call a couple hours later from a "blocked caller." I could tell someone was on the line, but nobody talked. When I mentioned that I knew where the call was coming from, they hung up. I am very worried about it.

I too have received calls from this NJ number, with the telephone companies doing "number porting" this number may not be physically in New Jersey. Look in the front of your telephone directory under call blocking and follow the instructions to block the number. If your local telephone comapny nor police department will not assist you, write a letter to the Public Ultitly Commission who governs all ultitiles and let them know of the obsence messge when the call is returned, copy the Governor of your State alss, Public Ulitiy offices as wll as Governors are public offices elected by you the people. This is filth and should not be tolerated. I ahve a very long career as a telephone compay executive and the PUC is the route to take, I ahve contacted mine in Louisiana as well as copied our new Governor's office.

Well Im confused then because I got a call left on my cell answering service from the same number talking about health Insurance and it sounded very perfessional. Me confused? The call came in on 3/6/08 as well.

Got the same call today.  Missed the call and called the number back since it was in the New Jersey area code where i used to live (albeit I lived there 7 years ago and did not have my current phone number which is a SE Texas area code).  Message was pretty disgusting I will admit.  Really makes no sense what the purpose is, its not telemarketing or anything for monetary purpose.  It says the 'subscriber can not receive messages at this time'.  My guess is the voicemail box is full due to people calling the number back and leaving a messages in one way or another.

This is just weird - and of course rude and disgusting - the purpose of this would be??????

Ok, so I see many complaints, but no remedy.  What is your purpose once you receive these complaints do you notify some authority, that can investigate and eliminate these nuisances.  We are paying customers of whatever service provider and with technology in place, I see no reason why these unwanted callers cannot be globally blocked by the providers, rather than just wanting to issue another number to their users, which solves nothing.  Any number obviously is publicly available to hackers such as this one 1-201-257-4261.  My request is to report it and eliminate it from happening alltogether, or cell phone services will soon be seeing RED, because users like myself will not use them anymore and they will eventually be out of business.

I got the same call, but didn't pick up at first.  Returned the call and got a horrible voicemail.  Have no idea why I was targeted.
