Freda from Windows error report service contacted my uncle trying to claim they were receiving an error report, when I asked for his personal information he claimed he did not have an employee id that could be verify, the number for contact he gave was 415-226-6911, then he told me his independent ID was 006-532-0808. I ended the call I have heard of several of these identity fishing expeditions in the last 3 months and will not give out any personal information

same thing, from 1-323-489-7473.
gave me help line conf number 201-918-4447
I thought it was weird that they could not use a hold button or call transfer, let alone, why is Microsoft calling me....
used alias' Mark Roger and Richard Tally, both heavy indian accents.
tried to get me to log into www.remote123.org, that's what brought me to here.
and the real giveaway, they wanted me to search for their name in google instead of bing.

I received a call from "Jack", with a very heavy Indian accent, from the WINDOWS TECHNICAL DEPT telling me that my computer was downloading some sort of encrypted file.  My daughter took the 1st phone call and was very suspicious and called me.  She told him she was 15 (which she's not) and he said "oh what's your name" - she gave him a fake name and then he asked her if she had a boyfriend. She told "Jack" that he would have to call back when someone else was home that could help him.   He called back and I spoke to him - Before he even said 2 words I reamed him a new one about asking personal questions and totally inappropriate questions of my daughter.   I asked him for his name/where he was from and a call back number.  The number he gave me was 201-285-2011. Supposedly originating from Colorado.  He said to call it back right away and he would call me back in 5 min after I verified it.  I called the number, all it did was ring for 1 & 1/2 mins.  Then another man called from 425-668-9652 stating they "missed" the phone call.  I shut him down!  I told him it was a scam and he could just stop right now.  Then he hung up. So "Jack from Windows Technical Dept - you sound hideous!!!"  BEWARE and do not fall for this scam!

Same call today as my post above re:  10/17/2013. Same scam, saying they are calling from Windows Technical Dept. and that my computer is sending out warning alerts. "Adam" hung up on me when I asked him to verify the phone number he was calling from.

Same phishing call today.  A heavily-accented English-speaking caller saying he is from "Windows Technical Dept" and that my computer was sending out warning alerts.  Knowing this was a scam, I strung the guy along, pretending to be shocked that my computer was at risk, and asked him the name of his company which he said is Pacific Blue Tech.  My caller ID said "out of area", so he did give me the phone number he was calling from as 201-285-2011.  He started to read me his scam of a script, but I cut him off and told him I'm on the Do Not Call List and take me off.  He then swore at me and hung up!

Same initial spiel. He called several times. I took his phone number to call him back. I looked up this phone number on google. It is listed on several sites to claim it as a scam and fraud, even Microsoft lists it as a scam. He called back and I listened to his spiel again and told him, no, I'm not logged into my computer and I'm not going to log into my computer because he is a fraud and a scammer. He yelled at me and asked me why I was wasting his time. I asked him why he was wasting MY time. He wanted to know WHY I thought he was a scammer and I told him I googled his number. I told him I had Homeland Security on the line with me and they are tracing the call and he can expect to hear from them. He hung up on me. He (Mark Wilson with an Indian accent) called me two more times and started his spiel anew. I told him thanks for calling me so that Homeland Security can get more information on him. He hung up.

Same thing just happened to me!  A guy with a VERY heavy Indian accent called.  My "Windows Operating System" was infected, and for that matter, all computers in the house using the same router were infected as well.  I was suspicious from the very beginning and asked many questions.  He had me log onto "eventvwr" and showed me all the warnings.  He then asked me to log into www.remote123.org which is where I called him on his bluff and told him I was not comfortable with the call any longer.  I asked for a call back number (which he gave, 201-285-2011), and told him I would call my prepaid PC support instead.  He got really pushy and offered for me to speak with his manager.  I called PC support.....this is a huge scam!  When I called the 201 number back to let him have it, there was no answer.  I hung up and moments later got a return call "from the computer department" that they had missed my call.  What in the world?  These guys are a total joke.  I told him to get a life and stop ripping people off.  Jack***!

computer was sending error messages.  What a clown!!

Its a scam and all they want is your money! They have no way of knowing whats going on with your computer and No legitimate company cold calls like this.  The scam usually entails them taking you to your event viewer which is a internal monitor that logs events on your computer.. Oh sure, you will see the error's logged, but its all a scam to get you to allow them access to your computer. The event viewer is only doing its job and its there for a real tech to look through should you actually have a problem. Then they want remote access! They usually turn your anti virus program off  and give you a big spiel, then inform you they want a small fee to fix it.. several hundred dollars of course! Meanwhile, they have access to all your computer and could be gleaning personal info, downloading stuff to your computer to turn it into a zombie computer to spam folks..

The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

If you didn't let them onto your computer you have nothing to worry about.  Your friend  will tell you it's a scam because there is no way they can see what is on your computer.  The error messages are NORMAL - and most computers have many listed - nothing to worry about.  These clowns are probably in India and want access to your information - bank accounts, credit cards. etc.

I was called by them,
apparently my computer had been sending them error reports for the last couple of days,
They got me to check out my system by talking me though it,
asked me to type eventvwr in the run window.
I see lots of errors at least..
But I have a Computer Engineering friend to ask before I go any further.

They called my home number claiming that my girlfriends PC was putting out spam and viruses and they needed access to it. They almost had her convinced but she emailed me at work. We have six PC's running through the same router, so I explained to her that there is no way to trace our IP address much less which PC and associate it with our phone number.
I do have one question for these scum sucking filthy untouchables, "Jab tu paida hua tho aagey se ya peechey se nikla tha chutiya?"

They are a fraud, plain and simple. How could they possibly connect your phone number to your computer (unless you are using dial -up).
They call random numbers and hope to catch someone that is uninformed.

Prank Call
Fraud call supposed to be from "windows service center", re: how my computer was full of spyware and viruses.   Display on phone showed 253-802-0308.  When I refused to fall for that phising expedition, provided me a "call back" number of 1201-285-2011 (was supposed to be in USA) but with the 4 digits at the start, I suspect an international fraudster!
