There should be an option here under "Call Type" for Fake Debt Collector. I would take great joy in killing these people and kicking their heads down the stairs.

The ASTA collection agency has called us TOO many times trying to locate a Brian Fowler, previous owner of our residence. HE IS NO LONGER AT THIS ADDRESS AND WE HAVE NO IDEA WHO HE IS OR WHERE HE IS. WE WILL BE TAKING SERIOUS STEPS TO HAVE THIS AGENCY STOPPED FROM CALLING AND DISTURBING US.

Debt collector trying to charge for an account that was paid off in 2005...somehow this account has been resold several times, even after the account was proven to be paid in full.
Damn vultures...These companies pay between 8-15% of the face value of the account, then tack on the cost of buying the account to the face value, and try to neotiate the payments from the new total.
Once you actually prove that you had already paid off the account, they simply re-sell it to another similar company and the B.S. process starts all over....True Vultures; they even feed off others vultures when they can't get money from you!
The Feds should do something about these types of "businesses"...

These people think they can con me into paying them money by pretending that I borrowed it from them and forgot to pay it back. If that was the truth I told them then take me to court.
| Liz 2012-09-14 03:02:55 Unknown |
The only thing I keep forgetting to pay is a toll booth I had no cash for I believe it was at the George Washington Bridge. They send it to collections. My be these people.

Had the similar type call - just jung up - then this WWII vet. went to my lap top, a few minutes in G Orange and I found your note. Worked o.k., just had to ignore the loud buzzing on the line, whereupon I dialed OPERATOR - this directed me to a leave message bank. In 5 minutes a person I.D.ing herself as "the" mgr. made many apologies promising to remove our name and number from their records. Claimed was all a mistake. Thanks to you - the solution was quick. Keep calling asking for someone I do not know. They will not stop calling even though they say they will remove my number.

The Pallides Debt Collection/Asta Fundng calls began this week on my work line. They came in both as 800#s and the 201#.
Here is a SOLUTION!
Google "Asta Funding" - it pulls up a company address and phone # of 201-567-5648. This is the number to call and you can select various corporate prompts. It will say that this is "not customer service" and to call an 800# for debt collection which is automated and you get nowhere. IGNORE and begin leaving messages.
There is a prompt that says something about Outside Divsions. I left a message on that line and they called me immediately and had my # removed. It might have been prompt #5 or #6.
Or you can call and select 0 for operator - ask for Mary Curtan. She was also able to remove my work #.
I work at a large company, and so mentioned we would have to elevate the issue/seek legal assistance if the calls continued. They complied immediately.
I hope that this infomation can help someone. Let us know here if you have any success.

Morons called my number this afternoon at 5:25 p.m., from number 201-308-9271. In the "computerized" voice mail (don't you just LOVE computerized messages, and/or, people who are from India or some other "foreign" country.....), anyway, in the message, it left a debtor ID number and a number (800) 414-8319, with a "threatening" message stating that they "expect" a call back within 24 hours. Knowing that I have nothing outstanding in my payment history with any of my creditors (and, by the way, I just received my three free credit reports last week, so I KNOW I have nothing outstanding), I contacted them. I gave them the debtor ID number, which was "not" for me in my name, but for someone else that I happen to know. They would give me no information. The person they were trying to reach is my husband. Still, they would not speak with me. I know his credit is perfect, as we both received our three credit reports last week - and, we are refinancing our home (all perfectly fine, because our credit is GREAT), so I looked the two different phone numbers up on the internet, as well as, the TWO different names...(IE. The name that came up on the Caller ID is not the name on the 800 number that they left to return the call. The Caller ID states that the company is ASTA FUNDING, but....in reality, it actually is PALASADES COLLECTION...A company who purchase UNCOLLECTABLE debts! Don't let them fool you!!! A creditor CANNOT collect on a debt after it is SIX (SIX) 6 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!! Most people think that a debtor can collect up to seven years, but this is absolutely untrue! It can remain on your credit report for seven years, but it is UNcollectible after just SIX YEARS! :)

I've been receiving a call destined for the boyfriend of 20 years ago. I don't know where he is at now. I wanted to tell them the number is wrong. But always recording, I can't talk to anybody. There is 800 number to call to inform the wrong telephone number. When I called, recording is asking my social security number. For what??
| mw 2012-07-18 22:24:16 Unknown |

ASTA FUNDING, PALISADES, LOCAL OFFICE, ETC, ETC THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE GOING TO OUTSMART YOU.
THEY CALL FROM DIFFERENT NUMBERS SPOOF NUMBERS SO THEY COME UP WITH ALL DIFFERENT NAMES INCLUDING PEOPLES NAMES EVEN HAD MY OWN NUMBER COME UP ON MY I.D. WHEN THEY CALLED. THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL EVER GET ME IS IF THEY HAVE THE SHERIFF BRING PAPERS TO MY DOOR. DON'T EVER CALL THEM BACK OR ANSWER WHEN THEY CALL. THEY CAN TRY ALL THE TRICKS THEY CAN THINK OF BUT THEY WILL NEVER TALK TO ME ON THE PHONE TRUST ME. WHAT I DO ALOT IS FORWARD NUMBERS THEY CALL FROM TO A NUMBER THAT I KNOW HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED. KEEP TRYING DUMB A**'

When I answer the message says it is a call for my husband's previous wife (who is deceased) and says it is regarding a debt. There is a number to call back. I called back to tell them to remove her name and it is actually advertising vacations and asks you to have your credit card ready to book your vacation. Pressed 1 to speak to representative and was put on hold for over 10 minutes and no one answered so I hung up. They have called over 20 times in the last 3 days.

Got a call, did an internet search and learned the name given at the end of the crappy computerized message is not the suppsed lawyer doing the threatening, but the person they think they are collecting from. Last time I checked I wasn't Gino Lopez, or maybe Gina, it was hard to tell... These people are stealing my cell phone minutes by doing this crap. And my personal time, deleting voicemail I shouldn't have, probably for a debt that doesn't exist from what I've read elsewhere. Still haven't seen a way to stop the calls though.
