I just received a call from this phone number; person asked to speak to the owner of my business, I indicated that I was.  The voice on the line then said "Ahh, never mind.  No thank you".???

They have been calling me for the last week.  I finally answered and it was a company asking for a donation to the Police Athletic League ("PAL").  I suggested that they have their own client Police Officers donate themselves from their own fat pensions that they are stealing and robbing from us normal hardworking taxpayers.

Caller ID said FUND RAISER. Answered for a few yucks.  Didn't get the yucks, line cut-off as soon as I answered.

They say its the police athletic league and want a donation.  This is a business line that is registered on the donot call list.  I told them we were not financially able to donate in which the guy started arguing with me and i hung up on him.  They call once a day everday ever since.  Its total bull crap they are allowed to harass you like this.

I have rec'd numerous calls from this number & when I pick up there is an immediate hang-up.

I am getting calls repeated from this number. No message is left and if I answer, no one responds. It has become very annoying.

This is a total scam.  North Jersey crooks using the good name of police.

I get a call from this number at least once a day everyday. It's very annoying and it just seemed shady to me so I never picked up the phone. What I do is every time I don't recognize a number, I let it go to voice mail. I then come on here and do some digging about the number. Thankfully I didn't pick up because I don't feel like being bothered by a scam. It does seem like a scam to me and especially after reading all these posts. Thanks for sharing your stories and warning others about this number.

email them your number you get the calls on and your name, to pal1nj@aol.com requesting to be place don their do not call list, I've done it and they do it.

I just received a call from this number, it is not the Police Athletic League from Bayonne, as I use their facility and their child care program..  This is a scam and it is a shame how Verizon sell this number to people and they send calls.  Since switching to Verizon home phone I can not tell you how many sales calls and scam calls I receive a day.

It was the Police Athletic League.  They asked for my husband, I asked them to hold on, I put the phone  down and left it.  They hung up after about a minute :-)

Yeah , it's a fake organization known as the POLICE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT. the young caller is about 23 years old by the sound of his voice. Possibly dark skinned , puerto rican tone when speaking in english.

I've been getting calls for weeks. I jst called the number and it says "Thanks for calling the Police Atheletic League"

Just called me. The caller ID said fund raiser. The guy asked for my former business partner. I just said he's not here and he said OK and hung up.  These guys used to call more often. They say we're the guys who help protect your neighborhood and when we asked them to put something in the mail they say they'd rather come in and meet us in person then we can give the donation. low-life scum.

OMG>...yesterday, I also got a call on my landline from 201-399-2809...(no caller ID, I dialed *69).  I did the reverse phone number look up on white pages. Says it's a landline from either Bergen County, the Englewood area.   A guy said it was JOE, and he kept saying: "hellooo, ms. (my last name), helllooooo, ms ___, hellooo, are you there?....he kept doing this.  Then said: you told me to call you today.  If you told me to call you, why aren't you there?  Well, I guess I can tell the kids not to thank you".

I am going to get to the bottom of this.....

I too called the number and heard the animated message saying it was the Police Athletic League of NJ.   I did a search on line, and that is when I found this on going link about this phone number.

Just received a call from 201-399-2809. Caller ids as "Local Call". Answer phone and no one is there!!

One of the phony police organizations. No REAL police agency would EVER call for a donation except for your local PAL and even they will rarely call. These guys are set up as non-profits and the majority of the money they collect goes to the guys that own the company. BEWARE and never give them money. It does not go to where you might think. Call your local PAL and give them money if you care to donate to a real organization.

I get calls from this number frequently - they have harrassed if I've said no and this week I have gotten call and all they do is breathe heavy, you hang up and they just keep calling!

i was called from this number and they said these donations go to your local Police Athletic League.  I thought that was interesting since i am on the board of directors of the local Police Athletic League and we do not have a telephone collection going on.

called looking for donations. told him I wasn't interested. Harassed me. told him not to call me anymore and he started saying "hello, jeff"  like he couldn't hear me.

If you call the number back, it's an automated message that gives you another number to call.  That number is 1-800-298-7216.  It's another automated number.  If you listen for awhile, it gives you a choice to put your home phone on their do not call list.  If it's for real, that is.

I am receiving repeated phone calls from this number.  As "Out Of Area" is the only identifying information provided, I won't pick up the call.  No message is ever left.

Received a call from this number on 10/23 at 4:45PM.  Caller ID says Weehawken, NJ.  I answered and no one was there.

Yeah, this guy called me from that number saying "I can't come tomorrow because I have orientation" in an immature voice.
