I have gotten 15 calls a night from this number for the last 2 nights in a row. If I answer it hangs up, if I call it back there is a Sorry the number you have called has been disconnected. What is going on?!?!

This company is using this number and numbers such as :201-564-4171  201-345-8552   and many more. They call me up to 10 times a day with all 3 of these numbers and no one appears on the phone. Messages are different. Once all you can hear is someone in the background and today I had a man and a woman( with an indian accent) say my first name, saying hello are you there, hello, hello and its my dang answering machine! Who the heck are these idiots?? I have picked up the phone on several occassions and cussed them out and I have blocked them repeatedly but to no avail..They need to leave me alone! They call from 8am to 10pm every day!!!

My wife has been getting the same calls on her cell. They don't leave a message and when she answers now one is their. Call backs get the non-working number messgae

when this mumber calls save it to your phone contact list. then create a ring tone of dead silence. allocate that ringtone for that contact and when they call again you wont even hear it. i named that contact as DONT ANSWER in my contact list. this way it doesnt bother me.

This is wierd...same thing....3 calls in the last hour from this number.  I'm in California and, as far as I know, have never encountered this before.  My phone is a business cell phone.

This thread isn't particularly useful because no one has figured-out for sure where the calls are coming from.  Some other threads are much more helpful.  

My introduction to this site, I learned that the caller was a bank where Michael the Deadbeat had an over-due car loan.  I used that information to talk to them rationally and get the calls stopped.  Other threads have revealed other callers as fake charities, fake bill collectors and other scam artists.  People have posted that by reading about a number they were saved from being scammed.

What's the point of us reporting these calls? Is there any point? It doesn't seem to stop them, or am I missing something?

SAME HERE AS EVERYONE. 201-796-8854 STARTED CALLING ME TODAY (8/06/10). I "IGNORE" THE CALL AND END IT. BUT, IT CALLS ME RIGHT BACK. I ALSO TRIED CALLING THE NUMBER BACK FROM A LAND LINE AND IT GIVES THE SAME MESSAGE AS ABOVE, "REACHED A # THAT'S BEEN DISCONNECTED OR NO LONGER IN SERVICE" AND YET...IT'S CALLING US! BIZARRE! ANYWAY, SUGGESTION TO DO AS I ALWAYS DO WITH "CRAP CALLS" - TEMPORARILY SAVE THE NUMBER IN YOUR "CONTACTS/ADDRESS BOOK" ON YOUR CELL. THEN "EDIT IT" - TITLE IT "CRAP CALL" (OR THE LIKE) - WHILE YOU ARE IN "EDIT", ASSIGN A "RINGTONE" TO IT - BUT SELECT "MUTE". THEY MAY KEEP CALLING BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO HEAR THEM! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Hi, My name is Michelle and I have received calls from this number and when I call back it is sorry this line is disconnected, never ever a voice..  You really are telling me that you called back this 201 796 8854 and a woman answered telling all that. You swear on something important to you.

I have just recieved 6 calls from this number in the last 30min. I too picked up out of fustration and no one was there. I called back blocking my number and it says the number is no longer in service. My caller id says " NEW JERSEY"..
So far this number has called me over 10 times in the past 3 hours, but the calls have picked up in the last 10 min!!
Every day I have at least 6 numbers calling here and its pissing me off, especially when I tell them they have the wrong number! If I dont know the number I aint picking up!

I believe that it is a representative from Kaplan College. Ever since i got online to just see what they offer I have been getting these calls, when I finally got ahold of a person on the phone (from a supposed different number) the other calls have stopped, until he called and I told him I was not interested...the calls started up again, if i get ahold of him I am going to get his name (full)...department...and hus supervisors name, and file a report for harrasment, if there is a will there is a way. Have any of you looked into colleg on line?..that may be your answer.

They called my house 6 times in 15 min last night, last call was @ 9 pm.
i was furious!!!!!!!
So, I picked up. I said "hello" This woman said, Caterine (could not even pronounce my name correctly)
Then I said " Oh I'm so glad you called me back, I have been so lonley, I just don't know who to talk to, I know why don't you come to San Jose?? We could go someplace the movies, I love the movies, I love scary, action, mostly anything, we can have dinner or something, I know how about bowling, u like to bowl, I do, they have pizza there and great drinks. We could go to the ocean I love the ocean and mabye go on some rides. .....I did not give her one second to speak. I kept going on and on talking like a valley girl......LOL it was histerical!!!!!!
Finally she said, Caterine, these calls are recorded .....I said "GOOD YOU CALL MY HOUSE ONE MORE TIME I'M CALLING THE POLICE!!!!! REMOVE MY NAME FROM YOUR CALLING LIST"
She said" Im removing your name"
Then I  hung up........so far today, no more calls.......we shall see!

I've gotten five calls from this number in the last couple of hours.  Glad I found this site.

they keep calling me too! they've called 3 times within the last hour.

It is an online work at home scam. They call me every single day 10 times a day and my cell is pre-paid. I have called and got the recording to press 2 to be put on the do not call list and they still call. I have had it! I'm going to have to change my #.

I encountered the same thing that Allie experienced.

I have received 10 calls from this number within an hour. Once I answered it there is no answer. I finally called back and got "We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnect or no longer in service." But apparently they can make calls to me.
