Keep calling but don't leave a message. Only left a message the first time, saying they were from AT&T. AT&T has no record of anyone calling me from that number. All AT&T calls come from 800 #'s.

I have noticed that the first call originated around 8:30 am PST. No Message was left. With the second call came a voicemail. The message sounded automated or extremely well rehearsed. The voicemail indicated that it was a call from American Express and that urgent attention needed to be addressed concerning "my account." The voicemail also asked that I return the call promptly and to have my credit card ready. Sensing that this was a hoax I did not return the phone call. It is currently just after 3:00pm PST and I have received a total of six calls from this number, only one of them with a voicemail attached.
Seems like a scam, a very sloppy one at that. My advice is to NEVER give out the info requested and instead call the customer service line of whatever service they claim to be from to verify that no unauthorized accounts have been opened using your information.

This number 202-215-4571 claiming to be AMEX keeps calling for someone that does not live in my home.   I've tried ignoring the messages they leave.  I have told them the person they are trying to reach does not live here any longer and hasn't for over 7 years, yet they continue to call.

Definitely sounds like a scam.  I got a call from this number earlier, claiming to represent American Express.  Neither me or my fiancee even own an American Express card, and we've had this number for a while with no calls from Amex prior to this coming through...

Called my cell phone 2 times this morning.  Answered it and a woman finally spoke up and asked for "Susan Nitzle" (not sure about the last name) Then she asked "Do you know her" and finally said "okay" and hung up.

The time lag after answering and background noise was similar to someone calling from a phonebank or call center.  I believe that the cell phone number is "spoofed" and that this call was scam.  Probably pretending to work for a credit agency or AMEX.

Hang-ups or "This call is for Ann Jones" and then dead air.  If you call back the number, they say it's American Express but can't look up your account.  Amex hired this outside company to follow up on late payments, etc.  But now they are calling a day or two before statements are due.  Call Amex directly to see why they have you on this list.
