To make a complaint regarding the scam the Treasury Dept telephone number is: 800-366-4484 and their website is: www.tigata.gov (click on the red "scam" link) in the upper right corner after reaching the website.

I had read about this scam last year, so was aware of it when I received the first set of calls a few months ago. I told the parties I was aware they were involved in an illegal scam (after requesting their street address which one person gave me as in Washington, D.C., and another in the state of Washington), and then made a complaint about them with the real IRS.

I just received another call (from "Jason Smith") advising I was being sued, so I picked up the phone and gave him an ear full about what I thought of him and his fellow callers preying on unsuspecting people and scaring them, and ended the call by saying to Jason, "If you believe in a higher being or God, I can assure you he is not happy with what you are doing.", and then hung up. "Jason" then called back shortly thereafter, and tried to explain to me that God would not be upset with him because he had tried to get a job in Silicone Valley after he graduated college and no one would hire him so he has to work this job to support his parents. He was not happy that I found his explanation unacceptable for justification of what he does; and then said that if I cared about young people I would offer him a job so he did not have to do what he is doing. Again he was not happy with my reply...especially when I asked him how is it he gets up and looks in the mirror every day and tries to assure himself that stealing is justified. Our conversation ended with him cursing at me and hanging up.

He claimed to be from "Internal Revenue Services" and had done an audit of my returns...

1. The real IRS sends notices by mail, they don't call.
2. "Internal Revenue Services" - plural - obviously a scam

I told him to send me something by mail or to go "F--- himself" and hung up.

People with thick accent calked from 2022395657 saying they are from IRS asking me to call them back or else.   Sure!   Let me get my ssn and credit card!

We are getting at least one call a weak from this number and pretending to be from IRS. We asked them if there is any question or problem, they should notified us by mail because we are not answering anything on the phone. They threaten us with reporting to the Sheriff's department. I want to stop this phone calls.

I got the exact same message. They've called my home several times. Always quite rude. This is a confirmed IRS Scam.

I got a voice call from someone say his name is Jason smith when I called back they asked me to call tomorrow morning because no senior official at the office when I Google the # he provide  202-239-5657 I found out its a scam

It is a scam,

Call him give a fake Arabic name or Jewish name. Then once he revealed to you where to pay call your local authorities.

I just talked to "Jason Smith" and he refused to send me a formal written notification from the IRS. Stated he would send the local sheriff to my home - I replied "Good, please do so I can file a formal complaint against you". SCAM !!!!!!!!

I just received a voicemail with the name of "Jason Smith" from the internal revenue service.  Thick Arabic sounding accent.  He flat out said that the IRS is suing me and I needed to call him.  I called back and it went straight to voicemail.  I figure it is a scam as I haven't done anything wrong and an agency like this would have sent formalized mail and would not be unprofessional to state on voicemail that they are suing me. number is 202-239-5657 from Washington, DC

Just got a call he said he is Jack Something from the IRS. When I asked from what he could not pronounce internal revenue service correctly or clearly. I think its a scam. just made my day! I hope the FBI investigates this no. If it really is a scam. Put them to jail.he did have a thick accent did not sound remotely american.

Received a call from this number, individual claimed to be IRS "officer".  Thick accent and very aggressive. BS call.
