This number is from sales office for Washington Wizards / Verizon Center. I didn't answer but they did leave a message

Keep getting calls from a number which only appears as +1188 on my mobile.  I dont answer them, but they ring me about 20 times a day and its getting bryond funny now.  Does anyone know who they are?

My call, with the same number, said Dist of Colombia, not Columbia...........

They called at 5:27PM no one on the line then they either hung up or it's a machine.  When I called it back I got nothing, no ring just dead air.

They call and don't tell who they are.

I just received a call from this number "District of Columbia" on caller ID and I didn't pick up either.  10/27/09 8:02 p.m.  If anyone does pick up their call let us know...who are they. thanks

Answered and got a jive fake response of " the homeless american veterans".

I just received the same form Dstrict of Columbia and i answered it and they hung up on me

I received a call from this number too, today 8/9/2010, 202-292-1188, the caller ID just says District of Columbia. Apparently some one needs something productive to do or a computer is gliched.

Finally someone answered tonight. We've had MULTIPLE phone calls from this number and it's a police association looking for donations for gear for the police force. I told him about no one on the other line and he stated by the time he says hello people are hanging up. He said it's computer issue. I told him it's annoying and the constant calls need to stop. Suggestion, wait a bit for them to say hello then tell them to stop calling. It might work, but they seem to always call back :(

This number calls 5 to 6 times a day day or night

I've been getting calls for WEEKS!  No one would answer when I said 'Hello' and then the phone would disconnect.   I tried calling the number back last week but got put on hold.   Finally hung up.   Well, I JUST called the number back since I have time and decided to STAY ON HOLD.   Finally a women answered.   I was very angry and told her that "I'm sick and tired of this number calling my house 8-10 times per day and I want my number taken off their machine IMMEDIATELY".    She was very nice and apologized saying that their "Automatic Calling System" has been on the fritz for a couple weeks.   She took my number and said that it would be deleted immediately.    We'll see if it is.   She was very nice even though I was not.  :)     It's some kind of Police Charity - I didn't get the whole name and I didn't ask for it to be repeated.

Unbelievable.  Been getting these calls up to 4 times a day, and was just googling the number when they called and someone was actually on the other line.  Said she was from CRF (which was formerly Cancer Research Fund, I thought) and the "sheriff's something" before I cut her off and told het to take me off the list.  She apologized and said something was wrong with their call system that was dropping calls and they didn't know how to fix it yet. Lovely.  Hopefully, I'm off the list, but I've asked other people claiming to be CRF to take me off, and we see how well that worked.

I have also gotten numerous calls from this number.  I finally answered, and no one was there.  It also pops up Dist of Columbia on caller ID.  Very annoying!!

It is some "charity" Police Association.

I've gotten 3 - 5 call per day from this number and when I answer - NOTHING!    I called it back and just get put on hold - long distance call.   I'm SO sick of this number!!!

Called back and got hold music. Too bad no one ever comes to the phone.

Just got a call from this number, told them the person they were asking for wasn't hom and he told me it was a courtesy call and that they would try calling back tomorrow.

I get calls from this number almost daily and no one answers.  Very frustrating, aggravating and annoying.  How can we stop this?

i got this call from 202-292-1188 about 10 minutes ago. my computer got hacked about 2 weeks ago from some nutt in nigeria and he got all my hotmail addresses and my friends have been getting email from him under the guise that its from me. now my hotmail account is blocked and hotmail wont help me a damn bit. ya'll beware,,,hackers can get your email address from your phone number and who the phone is regged to. i know what im talking about,,,,beware

Call comes in from 202-292-1188. Caller ID says unavailable.  This may be a "check for active number" call. If you answer your number can then be sold to automated call users as an active number.

They hung up when I answered.

Just got 2 calls from 202-292-1188.  They aren't from any veterans bureau.  They are thieves who want you to give them money or, better yet, your cc number.  Second time they called I swore and hung up.  Will continue to do this until the morons get the hint.

I think the number your are looking for is *60, but don't quote me on it

There is a way of getting rid of them, I had this happen when I was in Georgia and I looked up on one of these sites and someone had a # you can call to get rid of these calls, but I cannot find it, if anyone has this info, please post..Thanks  I am now getting these calls again from a different state, this is just starting I would love to end this.

I didnt get to the phone fast enough so I missed it.But when I call it back my phone goes blank so I used my cell and my cell just shuts off.
