These two posts have NOTHING to do with these payday loan debt collectors. CC debt is probably legit and I understand when another company buys the debt for pennies on the dollar, etc. which only means you can negotiate how much you can settle the debt for.

The actual issue here is bogus debt collection agencies are calling and harassing US citizens to pay for a payday loan in hopes they do not remember taking out the loan and the call sounds serious. I've been dealing with this issue for 2 years now and have yet to be served or anyone show up at my work or place of residence, I've actually invited them, threatened them if they do not show up. When I get a call now and they state a complaint has been filed against me, I simply ask, "ok, what court did you use and I'll call to confirm". This stops them in their tracks and then they back track to say they need to confirm information first which you should not do! They will never send you paperwork in the US mail, which is required they do within 7 days of contacting you. They will send an email with a PDF of their company letter head and your information, which is not confirming the debt. I can generate the same information if I hacked into a computer system or bought a bogus list of people's personal information, which they have done.

This and many others are scams, I have reported each one to my Attorney General, My AG has actually responded to each one, stating they could not contact the company or if they did and started asking questions, the company would hang up on the AG.

People: Do not fall for this scam, no one will show up at your place of employment or residence. Advise your boss that you have been a victim of fraud and they should be able to help you and understand if they receive any calls regarding this. Contact your local police department, and report any/all information you have. also, report these calls to your Atttorney General's office.

this is in fact a bogus company working with the county to find out who this is and have them under investigation.. I have a concern with on of my clients that has paid this company I will be checking on this site but we are currently trying to get a good number for this company. Watch who you pay if you not familiar with the debt check with your bank email records and make sure they can send documents

The message left on my voicemail stated, that the unknown company had been trying to reach my employer.( I am unemployed). Accusations claiming bank or check fraud, and I had to appear in court. The company needed paperwork and I had to contact them by the end of today's business day. I called back and got a recording that it was Washington, DC.

I received a call from 202-417-2021 saying I needed to call back by the end of the day for bank or check fraud . I returned the call told Sherry ( thats what she said her name was), I never had a card in 2007 or 2008. She said I needed proof I paid it off. Told her I didn't have one, she argued I did. I ask what company she was with and she mumbled something and hung up on me. I called back and got her again. I asked what company again twice, before she said World Wide Litigations and hung up. Get these calls all the time.

I just got this same phone call.  This is total BS. They called me at 4:45pm saying I haf to the close of business day.  Who conducts business like that?  Then when I called back, not greeting or anything,  just "this mailbox is full".  Is there a way to report this scam?

Just got a voice message. (I don't pick up calls from "No Caller ID" numbers) They asked for Sedoni Price (who apparently used to have my cell phone number)  I've had the same number now for almost 5 years and for the first 3 I was continually getting creditor calls for poor Sedoni.  I had to repeatedly tell the callers that I was NOT Sedoni Price.  Anyway, I tried to call this number back but only got a recording saying that "This mail box is full, please call back later"  I plan to try back a couple more times and pretend that I am Sedoni Price and see how long I can keep them on the phone.  It's that much time they won't be harassing some other poor soul.

I received a call today and I called the number back within 2 hours. I spoke with a woman who said I owed 1500 for a cash store debt and if i didnt pay it today I would have charges pressed against me. When I asked her to send me information on this debt she told me she had all the information that she needed and would be sending me to court. I then told her I was looking at hundreds of comments that she was a scam artist she got very defensive and hung up on me. I am thinking about calling that number back every hour and bothering them the way they bother us.

I just got a call from a restricted number urging me to call back because I have allegations of bank fraud. If I don't call back by end of busy they will be contacting my work and go to jail/court. I just recently check my credit and there is nothing there not up to date. I did have old debt from 7-9 years ago that I did pay off but nothing now. It needs to stop.

I get calls like this all the time, they calls thousands of people hoping to scare someone into believing their scam.  Don't answer your phone if the caller ID doesn't show a number or, if you don't know the number. I hope they call the wrong person and suffer the consequences.

Got this call on my cell and my wife's cell twice last week.  Saying it was based on a BofA default of mortgage.  I called BofA first.  The first clue was my wife's info is NOWHERE on the mortgage since I bought before we were married.  I have been aware of phone scams for awhile and always go the "named" issuer first.  I got a response from the 202 number just saying litigation, no company name or address after me arguing I got a name from her as Noni Henderson.  Reported the number and her name to BofA but nothing they can do. I just hope people learn to google these numbers first before calling back to see its a scam first and than waste the time of the people on the other end.  I did I talked about Pizza for 10 minutes

Got a call from these people about 30 min ago. So I called back immediately to find out what , who, where this loan came from. They told me over 10 years ago and that legal actin is taking place. I had to call back 3 time because the reps. were hanging up on me. The last time I called I never told her my name she just had my information on hand. I told them when I see paper work as to who, when, where this took place I had nothing else to say. Point blank they couldn't provide any information on this so called loan just a settlement.
When I said I have no idea what this is she said have your attorney call us or the courts. I said OK what court system she couldn't answer then said the state of Richmond!

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I had this number call my phone. Push the prompt. Then there telling me I owe to accounts. Couldn't give me any information on what I owed, but they said I am being sued for 1,547.00 then they said 1,900. So this must be a scam because everytime I ask for information they hang up when I ask to speak to a supervisor they hang up also. But what I don't like is that they have my name and social security number. This world is crazy.

Caller ID said Unknown, DC. They Called and left a message that said it was a response to an allegation of check or bank fraud, it is imperative that they speak to me regarding this allegation, and their office has demanded they contact my employer to verify employment, to issue paperwork for  me to appear in court! That I contact 202-417-2021 as of close of business today. I have NEVER committed such a thing!!!! And after seeing these posts here, I can only assume its a scam, attempting to extract income and bank info from people.
