A gentleman called stating that he was with the US Finance Department stating that I qualified for a $5600 tax credit. If I give them my debit or credit card number, I can get it earliest as the next day. I asked them, how could I verify this information and they asked me to call this number back to verify. They called me three days in a row to say that i have the money. i sent a $130.00 and the said they was going to call me back. but i never recieved the call.

I got a call from a guy yesterday named Alex saying this is the US Finance Department and that I have been chosen to receive $5600 from the government and all he needed was a credit card or debit card or an account number he said I could use a prepaid card also. So I gave him a prepaid card number that is valid but I dont use. I got a call this morning from a lady named Jennifer saying that they could not load the card and that they could western union the money to me and what time could I go to the western union to receive the money. I said what is the catch what information do you need me to give you because I am not giving any information. She said nothing just call when you get to the western union. I knew it was a scam, I am so happy I looked up this information. Then phone number that called me was 202-580-8344. Please be on alert!!!!!

i got the same call las week and it was a men telling me that they owed me $5600 from the government and he asked for my credit card #  and i will get it within the next day. Well he called me from a different # and it was a women and she told me that it didn't go thru and then she told me i can go to the nearest W U and get my $ as little as ten Min's. but in order for me to get it i had to give them $270 to show proof of identity and after i send the $ i will receive my 5600+270 in 10-15 Min's. Well an hour went pass and i gave them a call back and then the men answer and said he need more $ to give me the $5600 i gave them $270 already so i asked him why? he said that wasn't enough to process my $. So i gave him the amount that he told me to give him which was $690 that was an estimate of 981+the W U fee and he told me to go to the house and he will give me a call when the funds are there, so my dumb a** went home and when i got there i thought to myself let me look up this # but i should of look up this # before but i didn't. so i looks up the # and i saw allot of people complaining about this so i thought well this isn't true cause they said they was from the gov, and i start reading and as i was reading i got scared cause that was my rent and bill $. I called back and the # was disconnected and my heart just dropped so i am doing any and everything to get these people off the street and in jail for scamming me out of my $. Take it from me if someone calls you from a 202 number and they say that they owe you some money hang it up are don't answer at all cause i was one of the victims of this scam. please don't do what i did i am begging you if someone calls you about money are anything do allot of research before you give anybody anything it is very important. now because of this scam and what i did to believe it i lost my money and i lost trust in everybody i know so i gotta start all over again to get my money back where it was i don't even know if i am able to give my kids a Christmas this year because of the mistake i made

My fiance recieved the same call yesterday # 202-436-9039. This guys name was Phillip. My lady rushed to the W.U. down the street in the rain... "PUNKS". Dont trust the Washington D.C.  U.S. financial.

Has anyone applied for health insurance online just prior to getting these calls. The only time I have given out my cell number was recently on two websites for health insurance. Seems funny that I am now receiving calls from this number. If anyone has recently given out their number you should post who it was. There might be a connection. Just a thought. On the upside. Glad I didn't answer. Now when I call back I will be prepared.

i got a phone call from them a few weeks ago. they said they was from the us government saying i was chosen to receive 5600 but they needed a debit card number so i gave them my old prepaid credit card number the card only had 17 cents on it so i wasnt about to loose anything. but they next day dar was no money and i just shrugged it off i kinda figured it was a scam. but then the man called me and told me to go to the nearest western union i would receive my money there so i went and when i got there they told me i had 2 send them 250 to ensure my identity i told the man he was crazi and i wasnt given him a dime because you have to show id 2 pick up money so that should verify who i am. they keep going saying they would stay on the phone with me till i received the money needless to say they didt want me to call no1 else but i hung up and reported them to western union and to the fbi because they were posing as us government officials which is against the law this is clearly a scam dont fall 4 it.

My husband got a call from the same number asking for his bank account number then they called back saying that it didn't work and to go to western union to send $130.00 then we would receive $5600.00 back in like 10 minutes. good thing we came home and looked up the number before we did any thing. How come we are not able to report these people? I mean they use the same number every time yet nothing is being done. Good for you. That jerk did the same thing to me. I was so excited and hopeful. I really needed the money, as all of us do. I too didn't give out my personal info, and even went as far as to tell him on the phone that I didn't have any $$ so to not waste my time. He told me that he would call me the next day to do the $$ transfer, went to the western union and was told send him $130 to verify who I was. Ya right!!

I am a Western Union agent and can tell you 150% that this is a SCAM! Please, dont give any personal information out to anyone that is calling you. DON'T GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE. If the caller says that is about your account, then they WILL have access to the information they need and will not ask you to provide any of that. If you do give out your account numbers, you need to call your bank or the company that holds your credit account and explain what happened and they will shut the account down before too much damage is done. If you give out your SSN, call the SS administration office and tell the what happened, they will tell you what you need to do. DONT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!!

I'm so glad I looked this phone number up. I just got 2 phone calls from a woman named Jennifer. She said the exact same thing. I told her i wouldn't be giving her any information and she said she understood and to call her back when i was ready to receive my money. What a joke!! Who do you report these people to???

I just received a call from"Nick Foster" saying I was eligible to receive $5000 tax credit from the U.S. Government Financial Department of D.C. when I told him I pulled up this number from this website he hung up on me. Beware this number (202) 436-9039 it is definitely a scam!

The number that called me was 206-855-6577 and the "Indian" guys name was James Williams....That alone made me suspicious and then he said he was with the government and said he had a $5600 grant for me and that I was randomly selected, only 2450 U.S. citizens were selected for this.....Then the joker asked for my bank/debit account to wire me the money by tomorrow morning....And when I said to him when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is and then he got a attitude with me....Easily a scam….Don’t get fooled by this one.

got a call from 202-436-9039 a guy saying his name was nick foster and that i qualifed to receve 5600 from a government program and i didn't have to pay it back all i had to do to get the money was go to western union and call him back and he would tell me where to wire him 190.00 i would then receve the 5600 and then with in 10 minutes i would get my money back i called them back 10 minutes later he ansered u s government nick foster speeking i told him i was at western union he said to get the form and he would tell me who to wire the 190.00 to then i put my wife on the phone she said she was an erie police detective and that she was in touch with the fbi all my wife herd was "OH S**T" then the line went dead so scam what do you think.

They asked for my credit card number and said that I could have it as early as tomorrow, I informed him that I had no credit card and asked him to just send me the check through the mail. He then said that he could send it to me by western union. He said that I needed to send $190.00 to him to recieve the $5600 and that I would get the money right away and in ten minutes I would get the $190.00 back after I recieved the $5600. Sounds very suspicious and am calling the BBB.

My husband said they were gna give us 5000.00 for paying our s*** on time and my husband made me run to western union and give em sum money to transfer it to our acct I new it was a scam but my hubby insisted that we do it. The guy said it will be there in 20 mins and he was gna call me back. It has been an hour and he finally called back saying the banks were closed and it will be wired transfered in an hour and he was gna call me in the morning to c if it got there. B***s*** he scamed me of 200.00 that I didn't have now left with 12.00 dollars. Flag ur s*** if this happened to u and close ur acct.

i got a call on saturday 10-23-2010 the guy never stated his name just said he was calling from the us gov. saying my name had been selected to recieve 5,600 dollars he stated that the reason was that my family and i all payed our taxes on time so i said what exactly is it that i need to do he stated he needed my bank info last four numbers of my s.s i said wow r u serious.. he said "im not kidding we want ti give u this money by monday before 12 noon right then and there i knew it was a scam no one should ask anyone to send any type of money thru western union these ppl are sick and something needs to be done about all this its sad that we that work try to get taken advantage of =(... does anyone know what i can do about this???

Really. Ru one of them or just retarted. They are scamming people into giving out their information in return for absolutely nothing. Odds are you work for them, but it's okay, the government is working on getting the information they need to shut them down as we speak. For those of you getting on this that work with these people POSING AS AN AGENT OF THE US GOVERNMENT IS A FELONY AND YOU WILL GO TO JAIL FOR A LONG TIME...
