I received calls from a number '5' on my cellphone at least 4 times a day. After 2 weeks I finally answered it. A man with a Asian Indian accent said he was from the US Government and my name and number appeared on his computer that I qualified to receive a Government Grant in the amount of $8,000.

He began to ask me personal information (WHICH I HOPE EVERY HUMAN BEING FROM THE AGE THEY BEGIN TO SPEAK KNOWS NEVER TO DISCLOSE TO ANYONE ...ESPECIALLY A COMPLETE STRANGER OVER THE PHONE).

I told him kindly I will not disclose that information that he can just send me the check. He told me to call back his supervisor at 202-436-9657 and hung up.

I HOPE EVERYONE REALIZES THIS IS A SCAM. NO ONE WILL EVER CALL TO TELL YOU THAT YOU'VE BEEN AWARDED MONEY.
(Except maybe Publishers Clearing House...but they come to your door anyway. :)

i recieved a call from 202-436-9657 stating i would recieve 5600.00 deposit into my account over night. a scam or what

Yes I just received this U.S Government call a few minutes ago . The man (which had a indian accent) told me I was to receive 5.600 for completing and paying my taxes on time and for not having bankruptcy in the past 6 months ! All I had to do was give him my back account information LOL ... I asked if  I could speak with his manager (who also had a India accent ) , I asked him why would I need to give him my bank information ...if it was government money why could they just not send me a check to my mailbox ... he proceeded to tell me that "he didnt know it was just our governments rules" I laughed my a** off in his face and told him "hell no im not giving you any information about me " These people are outrageous with these scams ! There has to be a way to put a stop to this crap ! I don't trust anything anymore ... I'm considering closing my accounts out and just going back to straight cash . I have four kids and live from paycheck to paycheck these people are trying to screw with my livelihood ....I need all my pennies JERKOFFS !

Okay, so I actually foolishly feel for this as they stated they were from  the US Government and it was financial aid funds. Since I'm in college, yep I believed them. Now they have my debit card numer, exp date, name on card, CVV on back, last four of social and DOB. After reading this, I'm scared shitless that they are going to screw with my credit. What do I need to do? Please help me!

I also recieved the same phone call today. They said thery were with the Govt. and that I was entitled to funds that i would recieve the next day at 12pm. They said they needed account onfo or credit card inf so i gave them a pre-oaid card that I never used or use now. i asked how come they couldn't send me a check in themail, and they said because all of this is random and done on line. It sounded fishy. They had all of my information my name,address phone #, of course i did not let them know that it was up to date info, he said that in order for me to recieve the money I must answer my phone when the number calls me and the funds would get to me. this is supposed to happen tomorrow. I asked for his badge # and he gave it to me #am2704. i also asked for his superior and he gave me the name Phillip Vargas. He said his name was Alex White. i guess I will know tomorrow. This is so s****y. Something does need to be doen. It seems anyone can hack a computer and randomly call people and get their information. This is just wrong.

Just got call today from 202-683-9896, the wierd thing is that on my phone in the number field, came up as Justin.Davis(9) So when i asked him how the traffic was on 225 they said, same as usual. Then proceeded to tell me they live in "the washington dc" talked to a guy named, Justin Davis, but i am sure that wasn't his name. I was then transferred to a "manager", said his name was Rob, all he did was repeat everything that the previous person said. He said, we are the financial department of "your" government. I said, who handles the taxes for "my" government. Guy said, let me transfer you to my manager. I laughed, 10 sec later i was hung up on and my calls are now being ignored.

Also be mindful of a Phillip whatever the hell he said his lastname was. The accent was so dense, y would any respectable govt official allow this guy to call citizens across the US regarding such sensitive info in these absurd times we live in today?. So Be aware of the facilitation of this pretty obvious scam by a Phillip from number 202 683 9895 as well, then comes the # yall have been mentioning with a Jennifer (Hill?) and she paused for a moment to give me her lastname. Its all totally shade, no bueno!  A bad tease though, that's only thing I got from this for dam sure. Fortunately for me they got old information of mine or info already easily out there on the web. So best advice my you business and stick to what and who you know and /or confirmed thoroughly.  Good day, Bless!

1st a man advised we were entitled to $5600 and to expect a call from his manager. If we did not wait the next morning to receive call and speak with manager w lose avail. of funds. They called back 3 days later and said to go to Western Union send $120 and they would send control number to rcv $5600 + $120. I asked Manager JENNIFER the CO name so I could ck if legite bfore I send any money. Of couse nothing BBB or no websites so I entered phn number 202-436-9657 and found complaints. Praise Jesus no money was sent. I have reported to BBB. Other phn numbers they use ...202-559-7871,202-657-6769... I feel for any Sr Cit'sthat fall for this ... how can we stop them???

Hello My name is Leandrick Malone I am writing in reference to the number listed above on 11/11/2010 I recieved a phone call.  The caller said he was from the U.S. government and they needed a prepaid card number or a routing number along with my bank information, so that I could recieve my government check, he stated I would recieve a phone call right before the money hit my account.  On today 11/12/2010 I recieved a call from a young lady, she sounded like she may have been from another country and I could hear things going on in the back ground she told me to go the nearest Western Union and call her when I made it there.  I called the number back about five minutes after we hung up and the phone just rung, she then called me back and stated she was very busy and that was the reason no one answered the phone.  Knowing this was a fraud I hung up the phone, she then called me again in a very irate tone asking why had I hung up and asked what was my location, when I didn't respond in enough time for her she begin making demands on where to go and just call me when you get there.  I have just been a victim of Identity theft and Just found out this morning this matter is not just fraud its my life something needs to be done and fast.

Got a call from "Alex White badge #am2704 " from  202-559-7567 saying he was the U.S. Dept of treasury and that  I was selected to receive $5600  and asked for a bank account or credit card # to deposit the funds on.I gave them a Walmart re-loadable money card with no funds on it. The next day I  got a call from "Jenifer" at 202-436-9657 saying she was the U.S. Dept of treasury and that they could not put the money on the card and that they would Western Union it to me and to call her back once I was at a western union location.I knew it was a scam but they hadn't asked for any money so I waited 10 min then I called back stating I was at a Western Union and she said "I don't know you and you don't know me so before I can send you your money you must send me $130 to prove to me that you are the right person.I HUNG UP!
They both spoke very poor English with a strong Indian accent.BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!

I GOT SEVERAL CALL S FROM 202-436-9657/202-436-9698/202-436-9039/202-657-6121 AND THE GENTLEMAN (MR. ABBY) THAT KEEPS CALLING SAID, "WHY DIDN'T I CALL THEM WHEN I GOT TO A WESTERN UNION LOCATION", THEN IN THE SAME BREATH HE SAID, "WHY AM I PLAYING GAMES WITH HIM"... I WENT THE HELL OFF. I TOLD HIM THAT WHO DID HE THINK HE WAS TALKING TOO AND HE ASKED ME TO PLEASE GO TO A WEST. UNION LOCATION ASAP... GOOD THING IS THEY DIDN'T ASK FOR ANY MONEY

I recieved 2 phone calls from this 2024369657 #.She said Jennifer was her name... She told me that I had a check from the government in the amount of 5600 $ , but in order to recieve this money I had to send them 110.00 $ .I told her that I would not be doing this because I know it is a scam the government would not ask for money in order to send me money..

They are a hoax they asked me to send 50 and I would get 5600 back I never seen it they got 50 out of me how stupid can I be

Yeah I got this call too. My girlfriend who is fairly young (early 20's) fell for it and sent $60 bucks Western Union in order to get the money and they wanted another $350 to make sure you are the person entitled to this money. Thank God she didnt send it. So I called and threatened them with the police and they completely disconnected the line.

i got call today from this number 2024369657 saying they are us gov. and they told me i could get $5,600 from someus grant, and it sounds like hoax to me they call everyday sounds like a bunch of jibberish there voices sound funny, so who evers out there beware of these crooks!

They will ask you to send them 190 for the tranfer through western union since when did the federal govt start send miney through western union they said they cannot send checks or direct deposit.

I asked the lady .."which Gov't financial office (knowing of several types/depts), there are several?..."      silence, then she hung up,,,,GOTCHA!

I got one too, and they didn't say a word, I figured it was a scam it came to my cell. Now they are calling cell #'s

Im a government employee, and recieved a call from this number too. They were all Indian, and stated something about being with the U.S. government and that I could receive $5600 through some lottery of individuals who paid their taxes and bills on time. I called the number back and the Indian lady who answered said " U.S. government" hahaha. This is definitely a hoax!!!

I am a soldier I have little or no interest on this people that are trying to sell or advertize false buiseness or charities this number call me at least six times a day never at night time monday to friday and never on weekends I will like to know who are they!!
