I had the same phone call and almost fell for it.I gave them my credit card info including the 3 digits on the back,so far have they done anything with your info?

This just happened to happen to me yesterday, I received a call from a lady with a thick mid eastern accent who said her name was Jennifer somthing and said that I was chosen by the "U.S government grant department " I wrote this all down to research it later. We'll after giving me this long list of what I can and can't use the money for she gave me the 2 lettered and 3 numbered conformation code and gave me this number to call 202 685 9846 . After seeing all these comments I'm glad I didn't call those horrible people back, I hope no one else turns into a victim of these scammers and always make sure to do research and never give anyone you personal information, plus look at the clues like winning something you never applied for!!!! I received a call from an Indian woman about being chosen to receive a government grant of $8,400 also. I could not even understand her at first. She claimed she was from the U.S. treasury department and kept wanting to talk to my husband. I told her to take me off their caller list and she said she would continue to call me back every day. I asked to talk to her supervisor who got on and gave me the same story. He said it was legit and to google them. How else did they get my husband name and number? I said I work in marketing and know that they can buy listings of peoples name and number. And to take my name and number off their caller list or I would call my lawyer and slap them with a cease and desist lawsuit where by he hung up on me. The number this time was (202)666-9136.

I just got a call from this number saying I was selected for a $10,200 federal government personal grant. He already had all my personal info, like name, address and obv my phone number. He said Because I have been paying all my bills and have no criminal record, I was selected and proceeded to tell me that this wasn't a loan or a mortgage. Here's the thing, I'M NOT AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. Anyway, I was stupid enough to call the number 2026846771 he told me to call. I call and a woman picked up. I gave her the confirmation number or whatever the first guy told me and she asked me my first and last name. I spelled my last name out for her and she tried to pronounce it and burst out laughing. This is around when it became pretty certain that it was a scam to me. She continued to apologise and tells me that I will have to go to a pay about $180 in cash which is refundable. After that, I barely understood what she was saying. She tells me that I can take my time to do all this and to ask for her the next time I call. Said her name is Jolly and her extension number is 247.
If Anyone gets a call like this, THIS IS A SCAM. Do not fall for stuff like this. NOBODY just gives out so much money, and the government definitely doesn't.

I just received a call. The phone # was 730102. Same thing except this duds name was Max Miller. He had a foreign accent. He gave me his employee# which was 5501. Then gave me a grant I'd # which was GG1101. Treasury dept. # 202-407-9711. He to said that I was picked to receive $9,200. ALL A SCAM!!!

this is so sad. I received a call back in august posing as us government telling I was eligible to receive grant for 7000$ . then they told me I had to western union them 260$.......yeah right!!!!!!!!I told them "i don't think so".....now they have been calling me for three days straight up until today........I told them if you call me one more time I will file a police report......I cant believe they can be posing as federal government and get away with it.......they have accents mostly men but twice a woman.......I feel so sorry for the people that are being scammed out of money........

I was recently scam by this Jennifer Watson she told me I've been awarded a grant and she worked for the government , she then connected me to a guy I ended up sending 950 that I didn't have to give , please catch these cold hearted b*****ds!

Recieved call yesterday from broken accent guy stating I was chosen to be one if one thousand citizens in the United States to recieve a $9200 dollar grant from the united states government. He also stated I was selected because:
1) I have no criminal background
2) paid my taxes
3) Have not taken Bankrupty

He also stated that I was to call 202-407-9711me and ask for his account manager to discuss this opportunity. The caller said his name was erik martin and that I was did not need to ask for a specific account manager when I called that number because they have several.

Thank god I gve them a unacctivated debit card fkn weirdos ! im like wow wheres the money they told me to call the bank tomorrow because they closed and it was only 3:00 pm ,glad I Googled this.

I just received the same phone call for the $10,200 free government grant. From you guessed it the middle eastern scam artists. I also when they asked if I had any questions said yes, this sounds like a 100% scam to me. And like the others you can only understand every other word if that. So I tried to tire them out by making them repeat themselves over and over again. Trying to throw them off with their script they were reciting. Unfortunately they were given my account info so there for I am on the phone with my bank as I am writing this to make them aware of the fraud/scam that I encountered today. This is getting rediculous anymore between the email scamming and phone calls. What are things coming to that our information and us as Americans are never safe anymore and the scam artists just keep on going at it without being punished or prosecuted. This has been going on for at least 2 years now just according to the post here from 2012 and I am sure even longer than that. I have had it! Now I am wasting my time today having to take extra measures to protect my personal info and bank info because of these idiots who have been contacting all of us for their pleasure and payoff. I HATE THESE PEOPLE AND HOPE THEY PAY THE PRICE BY PENALTIES SOONER THAN LATER!!!

I keep getting calls inviting me that the government is going to give me a gram for being a good person by paying my bills on time and pay my taxes then they get mad at me when I let them know this is a scam they continue to cussed me out in call me an old lady and sayings I'm in the 80's they're hitting our senior citizens and I trying to hit us we need help with this

They are still at it. I received a call this afternoon. They called 6 times today...caller id blocked. Jordan (with a middle east accent) told me to call back to 202-657-6708 which is a Washington number. Slick, slick, slick....BEWARE!! Most of us in America are struggling with finances and these vultures are hoping they will get someone on their last hope and promise....

Same thing happened to me, but I didn't give out any information. Those people are scammers besides nobody gives free money to anybody not even the government...

Called me and told me I won 9,000$ and I would never have to pay it BacK. I knew it sounded to good to be true. He gave me 2 options... I could give him my bank info so he could transfer money that way or get cash threw western union. Of course I picked cash but then he told me the process. I have to bring $310 to deposit and hold as a verification hold to verify who I am then after that the 9k will be wired from a Washington federal reserve bank to whatever western union I'm at... He also mentioned how we would be on the phone the entire time during this process and I will be leaving very happy-he's a good sales guy but a s****y person!

The same thing was told to me his name was Karen susuki when I asked about why I needed to pay for a green dot card for a government grant he got mad so I told him he was trying to scam me and I was going to turn him in

please start dialing them back, telling them that they have won a grant and want their checking account number . . . they are going crazy calling me back. scumbags from below, i am telling you.

I just had the same call today I call them back at (202) 407-9711 X-211 the guy name is mark they offer me 9,200 but I had to buy a $4.95 card (Green dot money card) I recall the guy back and told him this was a scam and I was going to report it this guy got very upset and way yelling to me saying this is not a scam this is your money . These people needs to be stop ASAP . . . . .

Got a call from an unknown number saying I'd been selected to get a goverment grant for $9,200! They did not askeme for any of my information (ssn or bank account number or for any cash upfront) they said I only need a greendot money card to recieve the cash...  is this legit b/c I looked it up and everyone is saying its a scam

yes, my story is similar except they wanted me to buy a money pak card at walmart lol. i hung up on their dumb a***s.

I have gotta these calls for three days now once from Alex and once from William at 2026979074......first sounded great lol knew it was a scam.....gave them some fake card number that was a prepaid debit card.....nothing linked to me and continued Alex gave me the wrong number and called the next day to give me the 202# William told me if I give a $180 bank processing fee than I could have my money than changed the story to so bs donate it to charity in your name report it to the IRS they will notify me and I will stay on the line and transfer the money to this card..... So when I told him 1 it takes longer than 2mins to process a charity donation an 2 a donation does not qualify as a bank transfers fee from a green dot card and 3 I was born at night but not last night......William repeated the procedure again over and over like an idiot

That info is public. Creditors sell it to those people overseas

I today also got this stating I was chosen for 10,200 dollar for the grant. I kept asking them how do I know this is real and talking in his Indians what ever voice kept saying something then would say have a good day I asked why do you keep telling me to have a good day like your going to hang up on me. So we finish our convo and told me to call 2026576709 with the conformations number being wg209 but said not to share this information with anyone And to call as soon as we got off the phone so I did. The woman asked for my name and conformation # I give it to her and said call me back in 10 minutes I asked why and she said your not the only one who got elected for this someone else was ahead of me on the phone I was shocked but okay I hung up And called back. She told me in order to get my 10,000 I had to go to Walmart and get a green dot reloadable card and load the 180 one time processing fee. Then once I got to western union to call them and after I paid they would stay on the line till I got the money. I asked again how do I know this is real I do t want to just 180 dollars and it not be real and she said I understand that's why I will be on the phone with you until you get the money. I was totally hooked until I called me mom and she said look them up first and that's when I found this site. I'm such a dummy!! I could have really used 10,000 dollars. With these scammers how will we know when a real grant offer comes our way?

This clown just called me as I am typing! Nope was not buying it at all! Told him he was a scam artist and he got very upset! I'm glad I know never to give money to get get money! He was ticked cuz I would not give him my personal information! People beware of this clowns they can keep hiding and doing things wrong with the law of the land but they will evenutually have to meet there creator who knows all the wrong and cruel things that they are doing to innocent people! Definitely take Thia's advice, and please take a few more steps to further protect yourself from identity theft (since they have your name and address).

File a police report with your local authorities.
Place a flag on your credit report with Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. This will require verification for any new credit lines applied for in your name. The protection is free and lasts for 6 months. It can be extended if need be.

oh good lord. Honey CALL YOUR BANK RIGHT NOW. Tell them EVERYTHING you just posted here. You just gave your bank account info to scammers.
