Same just happened to me today and my father in law just hours apart. Says we owe IRS and need to pay before we get arrested. It's b***s***.

Got a robo call at 5AM from Carl Cooper from the IRS. Stated I must call 202-241-0402. He will not call back.
I hope his Karma getshim back 1000 times.

I also got a call from this same guy (James Morgan) claiming he is an IRS investigator but his number was 716-242-7165. He hung up after I started laughing 60 secs into the call. I knew he was a scam.

We also got the call from the 202-800-9953 making exact same claim like others mentioned. When I told them I am going to put them on hold and calling my local police on my cell to verify this, they hung :-)

Now u feel?? huh?? that someone who works for IRS is leaking these info and thats why all of us are getting calls?? I mean why is IRS doing that?? like they are too busy themselves and they want some Indian thugs to take care of tax issues in United States?? what is your point man?? may be u might have some issues with IRS as u tell us that u received CP 2000 form?? it is because you when u filed for tax return with IRS u either under reported or over-reported your income an when they matched it with third party information (ur employer, bank etc) they found a mismatch, right?? but it has been only 2 months that I have been in this country , I don't have a social security number, Tax ID number, and I have never filled a tax return and according to LEGITIMATE IRS and i am not a tax liable person. Yet I received a call and was told that there is tax due by the same Indian Scumbag who called you.
so please use your brains and remember that if IRS has to deal with you they will deal themselves, no leak info to these Indian Scammers..don't write whatever u want and make these scammers appear legitimate..this can harm other people who might believe your stupidity. Its Scam man..James Morgan huh?? So he hasn't stopped?? I received the similar call from a different number a month ago.The names are variable like James Morgan, David Morgan ,Shawn White,Carl Cooper, cabin Petersen etc..The area code is 202, Washington D.C.
They have actually spoofed the number and the caller ID displays the number to be coming from somewhere in US but it is actually from somewhere in INDIA..These scammers target people from Indian Origin and those who are new to this country.I don't know how but they somehow hack our information and happen to know our names, email ID,billing address and Phone Number.I don't have a Tax ID or Social Security number and have not filed a tax return ever in my life..when I called Real IRS they told me that I was not tax liable at all and this call is a complete bogus.But it was too late as I had already paid the money to these scammers..till date i have not recieved any document, any restitution letter or anything as such..so please don't fall for it. be assured they are not IRS, they are scumbags who deserve to be put behind the bars..

I have received this as well - twice today and several times a few weeks ago. He is using the name officer Sean White and is calling from 202-503-9971.

I am on the Do Not Call List. Am I able to report this to the police and IRS?

I just got a call from the same number you listed with a message from Officer James Morgan. It IS a scam folks...and I refuse to answer OR return the call.

I was in a meeting and was not able to take call from this number 202-503-9953, after a min i had a voice message stating that he is office James Morgan and is calling from IRS and its said once you receive this messege, next minute call back on the same number because it is a time sensitive issue and should call back. If you dont call back or ignore then i would be in mess.

Day1 - I got worried and started call them back.. i call them nearly 20 times, no body pick the call.
Day2 - I tried calling again in the early morning hours thought that they are in the different time zone, later in the day when i called so one picked, he said <took my partial last name> told me that i have not paid my Taxes from 2008 till 2012 and he would like to recover over the phone. I told him that i have not received any letter from IRS regarding this.

And started giving options
Option1 : If you are from different country, you will have a office next day morning and i will be deported and my bank account would be freezed and would not be allowed to enter in US again.
Option2 : Pay amount of 2400$ over the phone

Next thing i asked to send a letter so that i can do the payment. He wish me good luck and disconnected the phone

I feel someone in IRS might be leaking this info. Does any of you had audit for taxes this year which you had responded or CP2000?

you believe his lies?? wake up..its not IRS..IRS will not call you and threaten you over the phone, they are a government agency and act very professional, they won't warn you about arrest and deportation, and if there is anything as such against you you will find the cops right outside your door before you receive any call.So don't be in a state of panic or else these thieves will take advantage of you, they will make you pay money, make you feel like a criminal, steal your cash as well as peace of mind. don't let them take control over yourself.
These are scammers who pretent to be calling from IRS and create names, they are calling from India this time around..202-washington area code does appear on your phone, but that is because they have spoofed these numbers through VOIP and they trick your caller ID to display a number they wish to. the keep changing the numbers. only in the last month the various numbers they have been calling from have been 202-600-4440, 202-600-4551, 202-600-4559. 202-600-4535, 202-600-4634, and few others, they keep calling from same number to different people for a week and then they start using a new number..google 202-600-IRS and you will be able to appreciate what is going on.

James Morgan my foot..he is an Indian calling from some call center in Ahmedabad or may be Bengaluru..and he is no IRS officer, he is a lowlife thief whose name may be MURGAN (south indian Surname), hope sooner or later these scammers are caught (which is apparently very difficult as they are not in this country at all) and put behind the bars..next time you get a call, please do a reverse treatment, you harass them rather than they trying to do so, teach them a lesson. they have been doing so for quiet sometime now..check 202-600-IRS on google and you will find the truth..report it to local police department.

Mr.Delip, please be assured that this is a scam call , the names can be David Morgan, James Morgan, shawn White, Carl cooper, Cabin Petersen etc..or any english/american name that they can come up with..its an Indian calling or may be a bunch of them..they are not from IRS or any other legitimate government organizations..they call you and threaten you that they are going to arrest you or deport you and claim that there has been charges pressed against you.its purposeful so that the victim runs into a state of panic.then they will talk about settlement of the issue outside court provided we support and co-operate with them.They will ask the victim to pay the back taxes immediately and the mode of payment is cash only.they will ask you to get green.moneypak cards from 7/11 or HEB or may ask you to transfer through walmart moneygram..these calls are rampant these days, the numbers they have been using seem to be coming from 202-washington area code, but believe me they are just spoofing the number through VOIP,next time you talk to them just swear at them and ask them never to call you again and if anything they claim is going to happen in real, you will face them yourself. I received a call from a Gates Morgan, stating that I should return the call to this number, or have my attorney return the call, "If you don't return this call, I can only wish you good luck, as the information on you unfolds on you.

same here.  He said he is calling from officer James Morgan's office of IRS dept.  The message was totally fake in Arabian accent with southern touch.  Just ignore.

my friend got this and trust me guys the man on the other end was pretty rude, he was saying that my friend had tax pending or something liek that.... He threatened to deport my friend. In a while, he started talking about the amount of money my friend had to pay off, which was too much. I asked people and they said it was a hoax... man never beleive these guys.... EVER!!

If you had read the previous posts you would not have had to ask the question. Of course it's a scam.  The IRS clearly states on their website and in press releases that they do not call taxpayers about problems, they use the US Mail, and most certainly they would not make the kind of threats these scammers use.

I just called form this number. he said he calling from IRS. and lots code he told me which car loan, house mortgage, froud money,leanding money.....etc.then I told him those information is not for me..may be get wrong person..he u would be arrested with 2 hours to tomorrow morning. I said for what, I don't have any house , don't have car nothing loan..i don't know what r u talking about and he hang up the phone.
I don't know why they call like that ...and thround message to people..if is this IRS number please why you guys send to letter for any cases.

This person called my dad claiming the same stuff...being a representative for IRS. Just block the number and erase any voicemails. IRS sends mail not phone calls.

The IRS will never call you in regards to owing money.  They will send you a letter.  This is a SCAM!!! Do not answer!!!

Says his name is Officer Shawn White and wants info to your records, claims or IRS or whatever. At first he will sound automated or he will attempt to sound Brooklynish.  Eventually his accent will come out and it sounds like broken english I am keeping this voice mail to report to police and IRS . This call impersonats an officer is a crime.  Weirdest voicemail I ever got.

I got a call from 2026505454 saying that i owe money to
Irs.is it real or scam???

I too received call from same number just 10 minutes back. He stated that I underpaid the taxes from 2008 to 2012, and that too some $2500. They have received my social for this crime from IRS.
Soon I told the guy that can you mail that crime report to me and above all I came to US in year 2012, so how could I be liable to pay the taxes from 2008 t0 2012, he disconnected the phone.

I got called twice within an hour leaving the same voice mail both times. Voice mail says in a different accent that the call is from IRS, extremely important and time sensitive and asking to call back his division at the number 202-503-9953. Can anyone take action on these scam artists?
