Thanks for all the posts.  I just received a message from the (very fuzzy sounding) "IRS."  Sounds like something that shoudl be ignored.

Caller leaves message that she's Heather Gray, an IRS agent, to call back at this number.  Repeated call backs result in a man answering with heavy accent that gets very angry when cornered.  Clearly not the IRS.  Reported them to IRS by email, and through the web ATTY GEN office www.tigta.gov.  Go to upper right and click on red box to report them.

This is the 4th call I have gotten from this person . Tells me the sheriff coming to arrest me . I told him I shot the she0ff but I didn't shoot the deputy . I have reported this.  I hope they get this SOB .

This person called and left me three messages claiming to be from the IRS - His accent was so thick I couldn't understand him - what can I do about this?

I was contacted by this number today when I try to return the call it took four times of calling to get a person.  All the other time the call didn't go through. The person was identified as mike coop and IRS officer and that I have a lawsuit filed against me in Washington DC over taxes claiming. I had been served notice of this and it needs to be addressed and then suddenly he was disconnected.

Same thing happened said they would arrest me  when I said I did'nt believe them he said i was f****d

I just received a recorded message of someone claiming to be an IRS agent informing me that I need to contact them soon before they take any "legal allegation against me". Name sounded like maybe Kevin Gray but sounded female. I got a similar message last year.

Rather then change your number as that can get you someone elses old number with even worse calls, consider buying a call blocking device. Many are around 60.00 and can block up to 1500 numbers including area codes.

My wife answered the call from the IRS scammers and she told them that she didn't know why they called because she didn't make any money (which is true because she doesn't work). The caller didn't know what to say because you can't collect taxes from people who don't work. My wife then asked if she was due a refund or credit of some kind because she's been out of a job for many years and the caller remained speechless and hung up.

Just got a voice mail from these idiots.  The guys (Indian) accent was so bad I could barely make out the message.  

I just got another call from this #202-5060-8432, my wife called it back and called the IRS from the phone number listed above 1 800 366 4484 and reported it to the IRS,

a note to all that get a call from this # please call the IRS and your tax-man and report it to ALL.

I did get the same call that scared me to death. I called back the 8432 number and an abnoxious person with Indian accent threatened and said that the police will be on the way within 45 mins to  pick  me up.  He asked if I was home and I said no then some clicking sound that he said was a trace to my exact location for the police.  I never knew the purpose of the call, but needless to say it is not a pleasant experience

Indian accent - I also was told to call 888-855-7258. They new who I was before I could introduce myself. Said I will be arrested tomorrow. I hung up on them.

I received a call at 730am CT this AM.  The automated voice stated that it was the IRS and they would start with a survey.  It then disconnected.  I called back the number above.  He claimed he was with the IRS.  When I asked for his agent ID, he got very defensive.  He gave me 4x numbers.  I asked, "Really, only four?"  He then tried to give me some 16x digit number.  Again, I asked, "Really?"  He then claimed with a very heavy Indian accent, "I ma the oldest employee of the IRS.  I started in 1956.  That is why my number is so long.  It is called a batch ID."  Again, "Really?"  And then he hung up.  A lookup of the number revealed that it was from Beltsville, MD on a Ymax Oration (or a Landline from New Cingular Wireless).  #1 An IRS agent would know not to call CT at 0730.  #2 A lookup of an IRS # will revel "IRS" or "US Dept of Treasury", not "unknown".  The IRS does not play games.  They do not need too.  They send letters.

I also received a call from washington dc this morning at 8.33am est 5-20-14 saying they need me to call them back or press 1  to speak now with an irs agent it was left on my voice mail saying this is heather gray if you dont call back i will take measures against you sounded like a  robotic lady saying also they will take legal allegations if i dont respond to them. I know this is a scam  i have been hearing about it for a while now just surpised i got the call too why isnt the government going after these people just not right some people might pay thiinking its real.

Yes I also got a recording message today from this phone number (2025068432) with the same content that many others reported!

I advise you not to change your number.  IT IS YOUR NUMBER!

They will not call again.  If they do, give them a piece of your mind, I guarantee you, they will never call again.

Got a call from this number with an IRS ID number- claiming to be an IRS agent and gave me a whole speal that I could not relate to. I'll be calling the IRS to notify them with that?

Claiming it was from the judge Anne Green.
Then Kevin Brown claims to be an FBI officer for the IRS. Tells me the police are on their way to arrest us...  I called back and someone name Paul answers the phone with a Middle Eastern accents and when I ask to speak to his supervisor he hung up the phone.

We just call the call from the "IRS" stating what everyone else is saying.  This time, they did call from a 202 area code (at least they got that right for the DC area).  As others have stated, if the the IRS needs your money, they would send you a notice via the USPS.  I don't believe the IRS will threaten to arrest you within an hour for a few thousand dollars of fraudulent tax file.  Now if you owed a few million dollars, then yes, I can believe that they would come after you.  However, if you owed that much, I am sure it would be the FBI, not your local sheriffs office that would be knocking on your door.  
Next time they call, just have fun with it.  

I just got a call from them And they told the same staff that you mention. They asked me to pay 7600$$$ right now. Someone should stop that immediately before anyone really got scammed.

These "IRS" scammers have been calling my home line for over a year now but recently they have been leaving "automated" messages on my VM almost daily.  Caller ID today showed 202-506-8432 and yesterday 202-506-8939 and the day before from a New York phone number.  I have been reporting this to the proper authorities and still they call.  I am going to change my phone number that I have had for almost 25 years.   It's a shame the government, phone company or some other entity can't stop this harassment.  I read the above comment regarding them threatening to put someone's children in foster care.....that's just down right evil.

They now call with an automated message with decent American accent. lol. Same scam claiming from IRS.
