I got a similar phone call from this number and a person who claimed to be an officer with the IRS: Officer Brian was the name.
He left me a very threatening message and with lots of obscene language.  I called back and got an answering machine that was answered by a man who identified himself a** "Officer Brian"

I would hope that some police or FBI action can take place as the phone number is known and easily traced to an address.

A man,  by name John Parker from IRS's crime unit left a message that he had tried to reach me several times to no avail. He said that for my own interest, If I don't return his call, my case would escalate, and an arrest warrant would be issued against me.
I called him back several times without getting him at the other end. Finally, he called me on my Cell phone. When I gave him my name, he couldn't identify the caller, but ask for the phone number on which he left his messages. I gave him the number.
He asked whether I file my tax regularly. I replied that yes, I do. He said I owed the IRS $700, which covers my underreporting on my IRS forms from year 2008 and 2012.
He further ask whether I'm ready to pay the penalty now or what. I said I'm not a moron who would just pay for something I don't know much about. Then he said all right and hung up!

I received several calls from that number and never responded. Today I had 2 messages from Franklin Benjamin to call him at 1-888-508-7657. Feeling a little feisty today, I called him back, and he said if I don't pay up I'll go to jail for tax evasion.
I ask him if he thought I was an idiot and asked him if he was aware that the IRS does not call people on the phone. He again said I was going to jail for tax evasion. I told him he was going to jail for fraud and he hung up on me. Go figure but it was a good laugh.

WASHINGTON ? The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver?s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

?This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,? says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. ?If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don?t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn?t the IRS calling.? Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you?ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their ?FTC Complaint Assistant? at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.

I received the simillar messages from this number multiple times, and I knew that it is a scam!  interestingly though, now they are leaving the similar messages for my adult child who filed the tax return before April 15th.  It makes me thinking how did they get the child's name and phone number as they are not listed in the local phone book; i'm the one who is listed in it.  The  possibilty is either they have some way of hacking in to the e-filed returns  or they have connections with some employee dealing with the tax returns; it is hard to make a definitive conclusion, but worth giving detailed thought.
So the question is can IRS help us?  How do I report to IRS?  Any suggestion

Called about 5 times a day, When I pick up the phone, it plays a message saying the caller is John Parker from IRS. and to give him a call, knowing its a scam, I called anyway and he was telling me If I don't pay $ 2,500 he is going to deport me and revoke my driving license and told me he will freeze my bank account in 15 minutes and police will be in my door in 30 minutes. I just told him to get me a lawyer because Government suppose to do that if I can't afford one he said good day and hung up. I don't understand how can this people keep on doing this scam who know how many people actually thinks its real and fall into their trap.

I received the same call from that number.  I could barely understand the message because it was broken English but he identified himself as "Officer John Parker" of Tax Crimes.  I have contacted the IRS and will report it locally as well.  Thanks for listing the information--seems Mr. Parker was quite busy trying to scam people today.  They do need to be stopped!

This is a SCAM. These people are posing as IRS personnel and attempting to scam money out of people by threatening us with arrest. They first called me pretending to be IRS and accusing me of crimes. Then they called me back a few hours later and posed as police. The guy had a heavy accent and spoke terrible English, obviously reading from a script. Do not give them personal information or call back. Immediately report the incident to TIGTA: http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report.shtml

I also received this call - I was suspicious because the IRS would not call you and leave threatening phone messages. he used 2 names - one was John Parker and the other David Peterson. Same thing - tax crime or fraud officer and then when I questioned him as to his authenticity started with vulgar language to which I responded in the same vernacular!
DON'T RESPOND TO THIS NUMBER!!!
