I too got a call from this #, I didnt pick up but they left a message claiming it was an urgent matter so I called back. Guy on other line claimed I had a few cases filed against me for tax evasion. I then told them my case the he said "sorry we must have the wrong person". I proceeded to ask if he was sure I was the wrong person and he just hung up. I thought that was strange that someone working for the IRS would just come to that conclusion without even checking the files so I googled the # and this pops out. I was pretty pissed so I tried to call back with my # blocked. Called twice and both times it just rang once and disconnected. I called back and the guy stated "this is such and such from the IRS", I said "I just got a call from this # and I work for the Better Business Bureau, whats this all about?" The guy froze up, and I said "helllooww", then hangs up

I just saw this voicemail on my phone. I thought I google it and found this thread. Good to know that this is a scam.  The companies that are providing infrastructure to these scammers should be fined.

I got a call saying I needed to call this number and they were the IRS. It was clearly a scam trying to get my SS number.  I doubt the IRS would call at 6:30 in the morning.

There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.
USA tax payers should read this:
http://www.irs.gov/uac/Tax-Scams-Consumer-Alerts
Note particularly the links at that site, warning of the scam!

I also received a call, with no details, not even who they were trying to reach. Instructed not to ignore the call and return the call to the IRS agent. This is obviously a scam

Prank Call
Received a call from this number from person claiming to be Officer Heather from the IRS saying investigation in progress and a complaint has been filed against my name. It is a scam!  THe IRS does not contact by telephone or email. They send letters with legit telephone numbers and mail addresses and they can be verified on legit IRS sites or through calling them at their legitimate phone numbers.  The original call claimed money was sent to India through Trans Union. We are retired and have no money to send anywhere so it didnt make sense.   DO NOT GIVE ANY SOCIAL SECURITY, CREDIT CARD, OR BANK INFORMATION TO THESE DIRT BAGS!

Very thick accent man called and left a message saying he was with the IRS.  Said his name is Officer Cooper.  It sounded like a scam a not authentic, but after several calls we called just for giggles.  Got an answering machine asking for us to leave a detailed message, needless to say we hung up.  SCAM...IGNORE!
