Once again they couldn't show me the proper document to validate the debt. So now almost a month later they (Carlos) called and said if i don't set up a payment and give them my information to get the money then they will send this over to the local authorities. Ha little do they know I work for prosecutors and they can't do that. I'll let them think that though

So if you said they were helpful you must work with them.  They called me.  I tried to explain my circumstances and was nice about it; however, Rachel Cortez and Emily threatened me.  They have broken every law in the book pertaining to debt collection.  They threatened me, they threatened to go after a third party who is not even a co-signer, they threatened to have me arrested on a false charge, etc.,etc., etc.  They refused to give out their mailing address.  They will only give out a fax number.  Yep, they are so helpful that is for sure.  They also leave personal information on messages.  That is also illegal.  Since they have broken every law in the book, I have sent them a do not call letter.  I have told them that should they refuse to stop calling, I will be recording every singal call they make.  If they decide to sue me for what ever they allegedly say I might owe, they better start crying because with all the laws they continue to break, they will be owing me a lot more.

One of my family members works for a highly reputable collections agency - she has never pulled anything like this.  All other collectors understand where I am at right now.  They understand that I would pay if I could and have been very nice and non-threatening.  So, IRG and Associates and Rachel Cortez and all other people there, keep it up. You are illegal.  I have filed complaints with you in as many states as possible and with the feds.  How is it that?  That was not a threat.  I actually filed.

Yeah...  they helped you out...  I presume you work for them.  Of course, every 6 months they change their name and cloak their phone calls.  They break every consumer collection law on Earth.  I have already filed with the Attorney General as well as the Bar Association of Nevada (where they now claim their "LAW OFFICE" is.  What a bunch of frickin garbage!

Over a month ago I had sent numerous letters... including a dispute letter/stop call letter/debt validation letter to DRG... in Nevada.  It was signed.  No phone calls till a few days ago.

Needless to say...  they have sent me NOTHING.

In the last two days, I had a call from this 202 number, which was used in DRG's stupid fake letter that started all this garbage.  202 is DC...  They are in Nevada which is 702...  Yeah, do the math.  They are a bunch of scumsucking dumbasses.

They claim to be attorney's, etc...  Yeah, looked up their names in the various Bar Associations and guess what???  They are not listed.  Person or the company, which seems to change it's name at the drop of a hat...

A year ago, it was PRG...  then, the Law office of Sandra Law (give me a break)...  then DRG...  now IRG.  Please?

I have already filed all the complaints, etc.  Time is ticking.  I guess next month they will change their name again to "I am Out Of A Name To Use".

To date, they still have not completely validated the information... What a big frickin surprise.

I have been deludged with numerous "collection agencies" from various numbers;  I received a call today, AGAIN, from a company who called itself IRG Investigative Services.  I told them that if they did not stop harassing me both at home and leaving messages at my work (I work graveyards)that I would sue them.  They are NOT a real company.  They are a scam; received two phone calls from them within 3 days, each time with a different person.

Not everyone who doesn't pay their debts are a dead beat! Do you know everyone's life story or not unlike you obviously people have unforeseen problems that arise and you have to do what you can to take care of your family even if it's letting a payment go. Some people have to decide between paying a bill or putting food on the table for their kids. So next time before you throw the first stone you mihgt want to think about circumstances. Not everyone is born with a GOLD spoon in their mouth!

I spoke with an attorney today.  He told me to send the "do not call me" letter and file a complaint with the FTC.  He said the more people who file a complaint thru the FTC, the better chances we have with them to go after these thugs".

Here is a copy of the letter I sent if you would like to use something like it.  Oh, by the way, document everything.

Re:    Do not call or make any other form of contact request

I have reviewed the FTC?s Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at. I hope that you will go there and review it yourself as I have found several violations on your part in attempts to collect and alleged debt over the last few days especially on January 25, 2010.  You can find it at:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf

On January 25th, 2010, Rachel Cortez and ?special investigator? Emily Johnston made threats to revoke my driver?s license, have me arrested, misrepresent the claim by indicating that a friend of mine was a co-signer and they could go after her.  Emily Johnston alluded to the fact that she is possibly part of law enforcement by indicating that she is a ?special investigator?.  Emily also yelled at me, yelled at my husband and then hung up, employees of your ?company? have been contacting my husband at work, and you have also left personal and sensitive information on two different telephones.

As you will see by reviewing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you are not to threaten, illegally represent yourself in any way as law enforcement officials, threaten or even proceed to contact third parties without the debtor?s consent, act abusively, continue to call upon request of the debtor, continue to call anyone?s work if you know it will cause hardship, etc., etc.

My husband is a third party.  Therefore, you are not to call him or his work.  In addition, calling his work will create havoc for him.  Again, you are not to call him.

Do not threaten or call any of my references that may be listed on the alleged debt.

Do not call me anymore.  In fact, do not make any contact with me in any form unless it is to provide written proof of the bill or to have true legal court documents served by court officials. Proof of any alleged debt will not change the financial hardship I have fallen into.  I am still unable to work, in return, unable to pay any of my alleged bills at this time.

I have reported your acts to the State of Oregon and District of Columbia District Attorneys, the FTC.  Those reports will be provided to the judge should you decide that you need to sue me for any alleged debt.  Any further communication on your part will be recorded should you refuse to abide by this request.  Those recordings will also be provided to the judge should any legal proceedings take place.

I was being cooperative when they called.  I told them up front what my situation was.  I lost my job because I got really sick.  To make matters worse, I ended up with the H1N1 wchich came extremely close to killing me.  I have not been able to find work since then.  They accused me of refusing to pay my debt.  I told them that I was not refusing.  I told them that I would love to be able to pay all my bills, but I do not have an income at this moment.  They then threatened me.  They said that they would have my drivers license revoked and they would go after a friend of mine.  They lied and said this friend of mine co-signed for me.  I have never had anyone co-sign anything for me in case something happens that has happened to me over the last 9 months.

My cousin works for a repuatable collections agency as a collector.  I can tell you right now that she does not make threats.  She will do what she can to work with people who are in a situation like mine.  Actually, I have had to talk to other collectors who have had to hear my same statement.  The differenece is that those other collectors have threatened me and yell at me.  That is the difference.  So you should probably think about what people are saying about the threats this agency is making before making comments like you just did.

You know what, you obviously are not reading the post either.  I have an outstanding loan.  I have never in my life been threatened by a a debt collector like I was today.  I lost my job and to make matters worse I nearly died from the H1N1 a few months ago so I have not been able to return to work.  However, I was threatened.  I was told they would revoke my driver's licens - which is illegal.  I was also told that they would go after one of my referrences stating that they have her listed as a co-signer - again, another lie on her part.

Before you say stupid things like "pay your bills" think about what is happening around us.  When I initially took out a loan, I was working and would have been able to pay.  But then the worse happened, I lost my job and became unable to pay anything.  Then, as I stated, I nearly died a few months ago.  People need to realize where we are at and stop making such jerkish comments.  Maybe you were not threatened because you were working and able to pay!

I rec'd a call from these people asking them to send me the documentation that proved I owed this debt.  They asked for a fax number which I don't have and when I told them to send it to me they told me they didn't send paperwork thru the mail only by fax.  I again told her I did not have a fax and she then said they had sent it to an address I have not lived at for 5 years.  When I told her I would discuss payment when I rec'd the documentation she hung up on me.  They also threated me w/ Check Fraud which is illegal.

Ignore them!!  I get a pre-recorded message about 2 to 3 times a month with the same message from "Ms. Martin."  They don't even bother to put a person on the phone with me anymore.  It's a bunch of crap, and they just like to continue to harass people.  Don't do anything, just pick up and hang up when they call.

Since I stopped answering my landline and just let the machine take a message, I get less phone-spam.  But a message from "Miss Martin" threatened legal action if I did not make contact.  The first guy said something about making a settlement, but when I tried to verify ID, he gave a last-four-SSN completely different from mine.  He then put me on hold for his supervisor, "Mr. Shapiro".  He browbeat me about making a settlement for a debt to a major credit card bank, but he said it would be in my credit report, so on his suggestion, I hung up and established an account with FreeCreditReport.com, than called him back. Of course, no debt showed up, but he seemed to have a lot of personal info about me.  I demanded a detailed invoice in writing, and he said something about more mail to be ignored, but said he would send the mail notice. Later, I called the major credit card bank, and they were not able to find any outstanding unpaid debts for me.  What should I do now?

I too have received calls at my job from these idiots. when I asked what bill this is they answered by saying "you know just pay or we will file fraud charges" when I asked who they are and again what this pertains to he replied with " my name is clark and I am a fraud specialist with the U.S. Goverment and it would be in your best interest to pay me or I will be filing charges against you." Really Clark you work for IRG a crooked collection agency and by misrepresenting your self (and yes I have saved the messages) if by chance I do have a bill it will be null and void by your actions so bring it on Twirp! So to anyone who receives calls and they misrepresent themselves keep them because they cancel out the debt.
