Keep getting numerous calls from this number. Never leaves a message. when I call back the line is first busy, then says the line is disconnected.. When I actually answer there is nothing but heavy breathing.

They called me today telling me I was selected to receive a gov't grant for $9K. I asked what the grant was for and he talked to someone in the background for a few seconds and seemed flustered after that and then asked to speak to my mother. I told him "I am 49 years old so you don't need to talk to my mother" and asked him what this was about. He asked "49?" and then asked to speak to my mother again at which point I told him that this was a scam which I was not going to fall for, that I was going to hang up on him and then I hung up. Somehow I feel like just providing my age was too much info for them.
Turn the tables on them and start asking them the same questions they ask you, then sit back and listen to how fast they get flustered and mess up!

they have called several times but usually hang up when I answer or don't say anything at all.  Called twice today.  Second time a woman with a very heavy accent ( probably Asian) said Federal Grant, but I couldn't under the word grant and kept asking her to repeat it, finally she spelled it out and then hung up on me.

Called saying i was awarded a $9000 grant, hung up on him.  Come on FCC, do your job and start arresting these scum!

Got a call at dinner time , answered it and it sounded like all of their phone lines were crossed, about 50 people all talking at once , some woman was talking to me but with all the noise couldn't tell what she was saying. glad I came here next time they call
will blow a 110 decibel horn into the phone.

Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I not only received a call,, he left a message saying I was a bad American, something about not trusting him ...blah blah cause accent was so strong, then ended with w***e!!
Really!!??  How is this legal??

Have gotten several calls per day from this number.  The one time I answered, a woman with a heavy foreign accent told me I had been selected by the government to receive $9000.  I told her to take my name of her list and she responded in a taunting way that " I am going to call you every day - every day - every day."  I hung up.  Tried to call this number back , only to get a busy signal every time.  This has been going on for about 2 weeks.  

I had a couple of calls that I did not answer because I did not recognize the phone #.   I suspect It could also be associated with getting access into your personal computer and data. Do not take a chance!  If it is truth they will mail you a notice and then be cautious.

I politely told him I am not interested in free money and asked him to take me off the call list.  He hung up without a reply.

I just got the same call, offering me $9000 government grant to pay my taxes or anything else I want to pay off!

This is a scam and they are preying upon seniors attempting to get personal information. I have reported the two other numbers that they called me from...always 202 area code. You can file a complaint with your carrier and you can file a police report. I got them to stop calling my parents by calling the local sheriff. Having more trouble shutting it down since they are calling my cell phone rather than a land line.

I just got the same kind of call. Offering me a $9000 grant for paying my bills on time and not having filed for bankrupcy. I asked a few simple questions. What agency of the Federal Government is giving this grant away? And what is the name of the actual Grant? (In my experience, all grants have some sort of official name ex. FASFA Grants). The woman with the HEAVY accent promptly hung up on me.

This Number calls me daily.  The 1st time i answered the call they said that I was randomly selected from my tax return to receive a grant from the US government.   Today I decided to answer again and see what the tune was today.  Same speach, but with a Foreign sounding man who couldn't pronounce Washington DC!  Next time i will just blow a very loud whistle in their ear!

This DC number calls my phone frequently. They've called stating they're from US Department and that I've won x amount of money. I told them that in order to receive money from the US Department, you have to apply for grants or any monies received from them. I also told them to stop wasting my time and that I was going to report them to the Board. They stopped for about three months and started back recently...

I received this call stating I would have a great income, I just needed to call back this number, (202-697-9238 ). The person asked me to repeat the number several times. I kept saying I wrote it down, I didn't need to repeat it. After 3 times, they hung up on me. It had to be a scam.
Tell your friends not to repeat the number!

A woman named Kathy said she was calling from the Federal Government, I ask her who she was since she sounded foreign and I could understand her...She immediately hung up....I then tried to call and the number listed as a Washington DC number said it is no longer a working number...

I got a call today from a woman with a foreign accent telling me I had won a $9,000 government grant.  Well, the government doesn't raffle grants.  I told her she was a fraud and I was going to report the phone number to the feds.  

Thanks for this posting, When this person called me and said I won an award from government, I googled immidiatley and I told him what I found. He hung up immediately.

Same exact scenario, accent, background noise..etc..except before he knew he was busted I heard him talking to some one cussing heavily and was able to understand him then and not when he was talking to me directly. Then he told me that he wanted f*&# my aunt as soon as I busted him which was instant because phone rang, I said hello...it rang back like as if i was calling him...he asks hello...I refuse to acknowledge since he had called me....thats when i heard him talking. I asked what hell he wanted since he was calling me....you know the rest.
