Received a call saying that I have won 450,000 dollars. They will send me $2,500 and I have to return $2,000 to them via Western Union or Moneygram.  The man's name is Jason Smith from the National Gaming Commission.  I told him to call me back at 4 pm so that I can check him out on the computer.  Am waiting for his call to see whether he'll call back as I have information that I found on the internet. I just wonder how they got hold of our phone numbers.

I got a similar call.  The number was (646)807-3913.  The man left a message from Jon (John)? Rossi with the Federal Gaming Commission in New York, wanted to talk to me about my winnings. Since I don't play sweepstakes I just started looking online to see if it was real or not.  So now I know.  It was fake and of course since I did not play, I did not win.  Be careful folks the bad guys just won't give up.  They will try anything to steal our hard earned money.

I got two calls.  One from a guy identifying himself as from the American Sweepstakes Hotline (866-239-2995).  He warned about scams, etc.  Then he said I should call "Adam Rose" of the "National Gaming Commission" (202-391-0970). When I called "Adam", he wanted me to verify a code (TAO153749) that I had won $450,000.  He explained that I should have received a letter informing me that I had won the money.  He then read the address where he said the letter had been sent.  It was one digit off.  He said that that explained it, and continued that he would have to have 1% of the total winnings in order to insure the packet with the money ($4500).  He said it would have to be insured by Lloyd's of London.  I told him it sounded like a scam.  He uttered an expletive, and I said "Bye" and hung up.

Derek Morgan just called me from the Reader's Digest Prize Center informing me that I won a 2011 Mercedes S-Class.  All I'd need to do was insure the vehicle with Lloyd's of London for $2,950.00 (USA Lloyd's) or $1,250 (Off-Shore Lloyd's).  He gave 202-621-0146 as his call back number.

We have received a phone call from a consumer who received a phone from a ?Detective Sullivan ? Badge #0994 with the Law Enforcement Division of the BBB of Washington, D.C.?.  He is stating that the consumer has won lottery money in the amount of $300,000 and wanted to know the name of the consumer?s bank.  Obviously this is a scam.  Just wanted to pass this information along to you.  He had to be at the bank personally so that promotional pictures could be taken.  Have you received anything phone calls on this?  And?how shall I respond.  We will do further research.  Upon Googling the phone #202-595-3348, an 800 # blog came up saying ?fraudulent number, do not answer?.  Your advice would be helpful.  And here is for your information.
