Call several times per day and let phone ring at least 15 times, forcing the answering machine to come on. As soon as it activates the answering machine, "they" hang up. Phishing for real numbers.

calls two -three times for the past week. I have not answered it. I know the area code is a Washington dc number so I don't answer.

Got a call from this number, dead air on the other end, caller ID said Member Services.  Called it back and it was a Republic advertisement.

I have gotten several calls from this number.  I believe it is a political call asking for money.  Easy to fix.  I simply bloacked the number on my phone syste.  It worked!  Last call was one ring and done.  It did not even record as a missed call.  I love it!

Want to stop repeated telescam phone calls?
Try these alternatives:

1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after 3 rings.

2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

3.  If your cel is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear future calls from that number.

4.  Google NoMoRobo, and visit their site, to see if your phone system is compatible with that system.  (It may or may not be compatible).

5.  If you buy things online, you might want to google "Amazon phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon has to offer for landlines or smartphones. Similar devices are for sale on eBay and other online stores.

The harassing phone calls start about 8:00 in the morning  .. then continue every half hour for a couple of
hours ... then every hour for the rest of the day.  My wife and I have tried to stop the harassment; however,
everything requested, no matter how polite, is completely ignored.  Can I join in a law suit to stop this harassment.
These people should have to pay a staff fine for their rudeness and flouting the law.

Grab a computer program called Phonetray Free. You have to have a phone modem in your computer or buy a USB modem to use the program. Will block hundreds of calls.

Never, EVER, give out ANY information about yourself or your household over the phone or online!

Just don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. Your friends and relatives will leave messages accordingly.  Ignore calls/emails from those you don't know.  And don?t waste your time on ?do not call? lists and the like.  These lists have a bazillion loopholes, and the callers are scofflaws anyway; they couldn?t care less whether or not they?re breaking the law.

Only when we take the profit out of these calls will they stop!

We no longer answer calls from area code 202. These calls are usually from Washington DC area political hacks. Could be pro-criminal anti-personal defense nuts, pro-abortion idiots, left wing born again atheists, liberal anti-think tanks or Progressives chipping away at your individual liberties ?because, after all, we are all in this together.?

Caller ID displays "MEMBER ALERT". They call my home land line EVERY day, and I'm sick of it! I never answer, and they hang up as soon as my message kicks in. If they're calling for donations, I do not make donations over the phone. EVER!

Well isn't that awesome to know it's only Republicans in Washington, DC.  Oh and please people do not answer calls from any group that might be conservative because you definitely do not want to keep any of your Constitutional Amendment rights!

Received a call from this number, which was blocked.  (I block all calls from the 202 area code.)  Caller ID was "LOCAL CALL", which is absurd on the face of it.  According to CallerComplaints.com, "202-599-8715 is a 'spoofed' number, which means that whoever called you 'tricked' your caller ID to display an incorrect phone number."  Could have been anyone, not just a conservative organization as one person suggested.

Any number that has area code 202, we don't answer any more because it probably is some lobbying organization in Washington DC area.  Could be  gun rights, anti abortion, right wing religious zealots, conservative think tanks, Republicans looking for votes.  All seem to be looking for $$.  You won't miss much not picking up these calls.  Better yet, get a phone that has capability to block numbers.  We got one with a 30-number capacity.  Turns out that's not enough.
