Called me on 04/26/14 and 04/28/14. Just found out through my Facebook Messenger App that the owner of this number has a Facebook profile by the name of Gunther Stern.
I simply found out by adding this number to my list of contacts under SCAM. And the Facebook Messenger App had showed me that the scammer has a current Facebook profile, as well as the Facebook Messenger App on his phone.

One guy with a very thick accent called me and said I was pre-selected for a government grant with the value of $7,000. He also asked me to call to other number 253-656-5109 to claim my grant. He said his name is Max William. I asked him how he known about my phone number and my information, and he said it was from a democrat survey or something.

This is a scam seeing as how I am currently enrolled in school and have grants that are handled in person by my fiancial aid office in addition to the secure fafs.gov website. I will be reporting this to the FBI, seeing as how A.) they are saying they are from a government affiliate which they are not, which is a criminal act, B.) asking to verify my personal information, C.) Asking for my personal bank information, D.) obviously calling from over seas and when i asked to talk to an U.S. representative that is located here in the U.S. to speak as well as a callback number and his operating ID # he stammered and hung up on me----TOTALLY FAKE and OBVIOUSLY a SCAM!!!!!

Right at the end of the work day, this number calls, asking for me by last name. When I said this is first name, he seemed confused, so I finally said this is last name. Of course it was nearly impossible to hear what he was saying with his thick accent and incredibly loud call center background noise. He was trying to tell me that I was being offered a government grant and... but that's all I could actually understand. I told him I did not apply for one (I had pulled this site up by then and was not going to fall for it) and he said it was not an application process, just that I had been selected. He started going into the process, but I told him "No, this is what is happening, you are calling me from a call box and I do not want what you have. You are also not going to call me again, understand?" At which point he couldn't hang up fast enough.
That felt good.

The only legitimate avenue for government grants is through www.grants.gov which is the official US government webs site for grants.
From their FAQ concerning fraud:
http://www.grants.gov/web/grants/support/general-support/grant-fraud.html
Please note the following:
No government grant-making agency will make phone calls; send email or letters to solicit money or personal banking information from a potential grant recipient.
There are no processing fees for federal grants.
Federal grants are not issued for personal use, but are intended for institutions and non-profits to carry out projects with a public purpose.
Know who you're dealing with on the web. Scam artists will often post a website with a name similar to a legitimate site.
If you have provided personal banking information to anyone claiming to be associated with a Federal grant agency, call your bank immediately to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
If you receive a call, mail, email, FAX, or any other form of communication soliciting you for a grant, STOP.
It is a scam.
Report it to the FTC:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams
File a complaint with the FTC. If you think you may have been a victim of a government grant scam, file a complaint with the FTC online https://ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ , or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.

Called my cell phone twice. I picked up the 2nd one.. A guy who butchered my last name (which isn't usually mispronounced), very foreign and stated he was calling the government... Yeahhhh... Okayyyyyy...
I couldn't really understand him but I kept telling him to remove me from whatever call list I'm on. He started to get very combative and trying to get me to say the word "yes" which I did not do. Then lastly rudely asked if the money that is mine is to be given to orphanages and charities. I said he should shove it and hung up the phone.
Beware!
