Since I sold a car on cars.com I have be getting lots of phone spam.  I have my answering machine turned off and just use caller ID.  I started putting spam numbers in my telephone's phone book as SPAMMM###.  The last 3 spaces are numbers showing the month and year that I put them in the phone book.  If my phone book gets full I will delete the oldest spam first.

I can assign special rings to phone book numbers so each of my spam entries has a silent ring.  The phone doesn't make a sound when they call and they don't know that I don't hear their ring.

This won't work with everyone's phone and does take some extra time but it sure has helped my frustration level!  Keep fighting them.

Both of you don't understand how the DoNotCall Registry works and have blamed the Gov in error. The Registry works on voluntary compliance like speed limit signs on highways. Honest telemarketers honor the Registry, abusive telemarketers and scammers do not. Speed limit signs cannot "stop" speeders from exceeding the speed limit anymore than the Registry can "stop" scammers from calling you. Then what good is the Registry, you ask? Well, it helps to reduce the total number of telemarketing calls but will never stop abusive calls for sure. Burglars have never let locked doors stop them from robbing homes and scammers will never let the Registry stop them from calling you.

This number is a scammer trying to get credit card information under the impression that he is trying to reduce interest rate on credit cards.  I asked what credit card he was referring to and he did not refer to a financial instituation.  I told him I was not interested and he got very nasty saying that I was making a big mistake and I told him that he was making a huge mistake calling me because I was going to report his scam.

Michael - I agree!!! Maybe I should become a phone scammer myself....I wonder if you can claim the "wireless" phone account as a business expense & get a tax break on it....I doubt you have to make a certain amount of outgoing calls to consider it as a write off.
They say that the Feds are there to help reduce the amount of crime - but are they really counting those who commit these crimes? Nope instead they increase the taxes on those who have to obtain additional jobs just to pay the ridiculous phone fees that these scamming idiots cause!!!!

This is a "company" to reduce your credit card rates.  It is an automated message that indicates that it is "urgent" that you contact this "company" re: your credit card - but your account is not in jeopardy....funny they do not leave a call back #.  But I held on after the message & a man answered with "Hello?' As soon as I said that I want them to remove my phone # from their call list he hangs up immediately. I called the phone # back & get a Verizon Wireless message indicating that the phone # has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service.  Yep it's a fake caller id # - came up on my phone as Cell Phone  DC (Washington DC).  I think I will call Verizon & see if they will accept my complaint & maybe (just maybe - but I won't hold my breath) they will do something about tracking down these idiots.  I just LOATH people who have nothing better to do & waste others people time & money!!!!!

That's too cool on the air horn, LOL!  Wonderful!  Just got a call from this #, wireless, read on another site it was the same thing, card member services to lower interest rates.  Yes the Do Not Call registry is useless.  Even my call blocker now doesn't work, called AT&T and they explain that it will now only work on local numbers - not long distance numbers???  Another useless service!  If some local telemarketer calls me, I'm quickly going that direction to kick some butt, lol!  Guess those long distance now have it made, ugh!

"Rachel" from card member services with an automated message about lowering my interest rates on the credit card that I don't have.  I pressed 1 to speak to an agent to lower my interest rate and then used my trusty air horn to say hello to the poor fool that had to pick up my call.  It won't stop them from calling but it makes me smile knowing that their ears will be ringing for the next few hours.  Thanks for the repeated calls Rachel. I'm sure we talk again soon.  Honk!

SAME STORY AS ABOVE. TOO BAD WE CAN'T TRACK THE NUMBER DOWN, AND GO KICK HELL OUT OF THEM. I'M SURE THE FEDS CAN, BUT AS YOU SAY, THEY DON'T CARE HOW MUCH WE ARE BOTHERED BY ILLEGAL TACTICS.

I hate these people.  They keep calling our house and bother my father who has dementia.  I'm on the Do Not Call List and talk when they answer but then they just hang up on me.

One more example of what a joke the "Do Not Call" list is ... for that matter of what a joke the entire federal government is.
Try to tell the feds to enforce this law. Just try. HAH!
But try to retain the money you earned by your own efforts, and by gosh there will be all kinds of armed agents of the government ready to shoot you in order to take YOUR money.
But protect you? HAH again.
"Do Not Call" is just a hoax.

Scam to lower interest rates on credit cards. The only problem is, we have no credit cards. Probably fishing for information.

Just press 1 if you want to talk to someone.

File a complaint with the FCC as I have to stop this or at least try to.

This number appeared on my home phone as "Wireless Caller" at 4:39 p.m. but no message was left. Within less than 1 1/2 hours, I tried to return the call. The number was answered by a computer message from Verizon that stated that the number I called had either been changed or was no longer in service. I find that hard to believe.

I received this call regarding compiling credit card debt. I punched 0 twice and got a man. When I told him that I was an unlisted number, he said rudely, "why did you follow our prompts then."  Tried to call this number to complain and found it was a fake caller ID number.

I just received a call from this # and it says "Wireless Caller."  The call hung up after 4 rings, presumably to avoid my answering machine.  I have no idea who it is.
